And yes, qua respect for each others safety etc, it was way better 30 years ago. What shit am I making up, though, please enlighten me. Looking at the image, he doesn't turn his head even slightly. Yes, he stops for a second, because he would've crashed, too, otherwise.

You are using one incident to go on a rant about how cycling was rode by better men 30 years ago. Are you that biased?

So you are a former pro cyclist? Good for you, does that have anything to do with the topic besides showing your bias? Because you are clearly not a pro cyclist now.

Dude, can't you read?
It was an Etixx rider who said there is less and less respect in the peloton. Not me! So no, I'm not former pro cyclist, a bit too young to have been retired from the cycling sport, actually.
Rode by better men? What the shit is this? I'm talking about respect among collegues, that's it. And it's not one incident, it's one of many. And it's the Etixx guy who said it, I'm just repeating it. Stop trying to make this into something I invented.

There is no need to cruficy Barguil after the incident. I don't know all that much about him, but from what I've seen in interviews he seems like a good guy. People who are going on about him being an idiot, saying he lacks respect for the other riders, that he doesn't care about their wellbeing as long as he finishes in the top 10, are dead wrong, in my opinion.

He's young, and in a decent like that there is alot of adrenaline. He had a momentary laps where he didn't pay attention.

According to some people here on this site, experienced riders have never, ever in the whole history of cycling, ever made a mistake in a downhill.

Barguil seems like a stand up chap, and I'm surprised if he doesn't give a heartfelt and apologetic interview afterwards, and perhaps even goes to the Sky-bus to appologize.

Nobody seems to be worried about the wellbeing of the pole. Never nice being headbutted by a Welshman.

If it was Danny Pate, the pole would have been knocked into the ditch and he'd have carried on.

It was mentioned on the Australian coverage that he did apologise to Thomas after the finish, i'm sure he feels bad for causing it but as you said it was an accident by a young rider who is still learning the ropes

If it was Danny Pate, Barguil would've crashed into a concrete wall called Pate and wouldn't have lived to tell the tale.

Forever the Best
Been away for a few days for a holiday and caught up now.

About the Froome sprint on stage 14,I don't see anything wrong with sprinting like that.Because even 1 second is very important. And even if not he tried to weken Quintana with mindgames which I don't see a problem with.

About today.Barguil just made a rookie mistake. Also feel bad for SaganFrown
Also great attack by NibblesGrin

Holy shit buddy, are you serious. So you used a quote from one angry guy to take me to task about how much better cycling was before you even watched cycling?

This is fucking nuts. I mean are you for real?

There is no angry guy. It's a professional rider who said it, stating a matter of fact. You'd think that if anyone knew about this topic, it would be a professional cyclist.

I never said cycling was better before I watched cycling Rolling Eyes
But, yes, that is my opinion. However, that has nothing to do with the discussion. I'm just talking about respect among cyclists.

A Welshman headbutting a Pole, it sounds like a normal weekend in Wales to me Pfft

He had a reason for saying it.... You dont just post things on social media without a reason. The double talk coming out of you at this point is just laughable.

I don't understand what you are saying... What social media? Who posted something on the social media? And what double talk? Explain, please.

Wow Sutty I thought you were better than that

It was my instant reaction to which i apologise Embarassed

For all the accusations that get levelled at riders Barguil made a mistake (we all make them it's part of what makes us human), he's apologetic, just as Sutty was big enough to be after his own rush of blood.

As for Thomas he was lucky and did well to get back on the bike so quickly after that and ride hard to the finish. Some of the comments about him, when people had little to no idea of his welfare, are far more damning and I doubt we're likely to see apologies about them???

All these riders have friends and family and hurt, break and bleed like the rest of us, whether we like them or not.

On Twitter there's a fair amount of people calling for Barguil to be DQ'ed after the incident. If that's the case, we need to DQ everybody who falls during decents and takes down somebody else, since it's their fault aswell. If you fall, it's because you weren't careful enough.

For the love of God, people. A young inexperienced cyclist makes a mistake, just like everybody else can make. It's a harrowing decent, there's a rush of adrenaline, and these things happen.

DQ would be a bit strong.
Though I'm all in favor of also training young riders in safety. Get them ready for the hazards of the roads as well as the classic training.
(for example also that when a train approaches, you stop, those things, you know) Pfft

Crazy stage. My thoughts;

- Yeah Ruben! Smile (Making Movistar - US Postal proud. )
- Barguil just messed up. Even Sagan had trouble on that corner.
- Glad Thomas is okay. Could have been much much worse.
- And nails again? Why! What's wrong with people...
