G thomas are you kidding me lol the alien transformation has begone

Gesink 9km in headwind alone thanks to that flat tire. So unlucky, would have never even lost time without it.

That's overplaying it, yes he is strong and stronger than I thought but if Thomas and Quintana went toe to toe as GC leaders in a GT then Quinana would destory Thomas over 3 weeks

If there's an ITT of 50km I don't think Quintana would destroy thomas he would lose near 4 min for sure against a guy like thomas after what he showed today in mountain just unbelievable.

There is a massive difference to riding as a domestique and riding as leader in GT's, I have seen Dom's perform very strongly but once they become leaders they struggle. Yes Thomas has been impressive in the Pyrenees but so has Quintana. Nairo has finished 2nd in a Tour then followed that up with a win in a Giro, who knows what would of happened at last years Vuelta if he had not crashed in the TT. I am yet to see how Thomas has shown that he can be a better GT rider than Quintana and the only way I see him ever beating him over 3 weeks barring accident is if we get another GT route like the 2012 TDF that Wiggens won and lets not hope we see such an uninspiring route like that again.

Yeah, me too.

Also, might just be me that noticed it, but it looked like Valverde took 2-3 seconds on Froome at the finish, not 1 second. I doubt those 1-2 extra seconds end up mattering, but you never know, especially since the gap to Thomas is only 5 seconds still somehow.

Great effort by Movistar to keep attacking, but I think they should have tried attacking together and relaying away. It didn't seem like they could sustain it by themselves, and they shouldn't have let Thomas get back into their group when they had that gap around 6km(I think it was) to go.

Quintana has never been impressive in the Pyrenees are you kidding me now ? He's still struggling and we all know that is strength is during 3rd week he was just able to limit damage during Pyrenees. The only reason why Quintana decided to go to this Tour de France is because there's so much mountains and not much time trial but if there was a 50km TT I can guarantee you he wouldn't be here. He's just a pure climber that expresses himself during mountain. Quite honestly if Quintana doesn't win this Tour I don't even know how he's gonna win one since he lacks TT and he's not good in cobbles at all. Unless a miracle he'll finish 2nd at best.

Explain to me how Quintana is never impressive in the Pyrenees, in the 2013 Tour he was still riding as a domestique to Valverde and on the 2 stages in the Pyrenees he finished with his team leader, so far in this Tour he has lost 1:04 to Froome and gained time on all his other GC rivals, doesn't really come across as unimpressive. No matter what the route this year unless it was like 2012 Quintana would of been here, his record in GT TT's isn't as bad as you think for a climber who has only turned 25 this year and is gradually improving every season in the TT. It is ridiculous ti say that unless he wins this year he will never win a Tour, the cobbles won't be in the race every year (he matched all his rivals over them this) and even if he loses 1-3 minutes in a TT he can gain that back in the high mountains. Also with any luck he won't have to ride another GT in a squad with split loyalties, Valverde isn't all in for Quintana and whilst Valv is there the squad isn't all in for Nairo.

Despite the Thomas freakshow I really enjoyed the stage. Kwiatek and Sep were the real MVP's.

Thomas would lose 8 minutes on stage 11

Thomas has shown to be a absolute beast but the type of climbs in the Vuelta favor a rider like Quintana already. Add in a few 22% ramps and I just dont see him being even close, even with a 5 minute take in the TTs.

And in case anyone cares, that stage 11 in this years Vuelta is absolutely nuts.

Love Kwaitek so with you on that, but though the stage was pretty shit except for the few KMs in the middle of the final climb when Valv and Nibbles got things moving. Maybe I was expecting to much but I thought that the day would be rode a little harder than it was. They walked to the final climb and thats what made the whole day kinda suck.

Kwiatek is, apart from his AGR victory, in awful shape this year though. Really dissappointing. Maybe the pressure from being a world champion is too much for him?

Oh man, Stage 11 of the Vuelta a Espana is like a wet dream. Probably still all come down to an endurance contest decided on the final climb but what a freaking 138 kilometre-long endurance contest it is with six massive bergs that dip no lower than 2nd Category rating.

It is fucking amazing and they did that crazy shit of taking a climb even higher on The Gallina. That climb is like perfect as it is but now with more at 20%..... Good lord.

I could re watch the 2012 Gallina climb any day.

Lol keep him at that weight on the Gallina and he is 1000% doped to shit. That stage is harder than the entire tour combined.

Dude you're crazy there's no way that Thomas in a single mountain Stage would lose 8 min to Quintana. If you says GVA or Stybby losing that much time on stage 11 of Vuelta I Would agree with you. Quintana is already struggling in this tour and you think he can put that much time to a Thomas that has been so consistent? No way
