Well, the hype of Nerz by roturn (and you?) for this upcoming race, speaking about top-15 and even top-10 proves pretty... optimistic. He is nothing more than mediocre GT-rider, oh well.
I didn't hype Nerz for the last two years or so, he's actually getting worse instead of better imo.
Which is why I pointed out Buchmann (or anyone for that matter) waiting for him, as I find that pretty pointless.
Did I really hype Nerz a lot?
Can`t think about I have written more than 1 or 2 posts about him to be honest.
He was 21st after yesterdays stage and only thing I once said, that a 15th in the Tour would be doable for him when being in perfect form.
Don`t think this is hype really.
Nevermind. He just abandoned, so we won`t know anyway.
My bad then, I thought I heard rumblings of possible top-10 in here. Pretty sure about that, but nevermind then |

I'm very excited to see what Jacob Birdsong can accomplish now that he is the team leader. Has he been a leader in a week-long race or more before?
Many times. He has had some very good Dauphines, and has been very decent throughout this season, right from the beginning with good secondary placings. As DiCyc said, he was captain in 2013 and was fighting for Mochema and the dutch armada for 7th, but unfortunately fell too short.
Reported in best condition this year, has lost some weight and was riding formidable at Pierre Martin, but was shepherding Nibz for the first 7 kilometres - was let go and finished around 3 minutes down which in terms means he climbed the last 8 kilometres 30 secs slower than Froome. #DanishHype
Ah, I must have chosing to ignore his accomplishments. You know, with him being danish, and all. I'm guessing a big name up there is needed now, so that names like Riis, Rasmussen and possibly Sørensen is a bit easier to forget

Good. Frenchies are always eager to fight back.
@Riis: Mhm, yeah I'm with you on being Q's helper. Guy has won too much; he may pull a bit like in Vuelta last year (and then take stage win hehe) but other than that, he is just too much of a champion to being someone's lapdawg.
It's been only one real mountain stage but I also see Gesink as kinda his biggest threat right now. TVG and Gallopin (unfortunately) won't hold up. I hope that Contador recovers and brings some pain to the peloton but if not, Valv getting podium would really sweeten this Tour for me. But nvm, it's been only the first of numerous mountain stages..
@Nerz: Yeah, I was obviously majorly wrong about that.

Nice found.
But honestly. It`s not absolutely wrong to be fair.
He raced with a light rip injury since stage 3 crash. Yesterday he was ill it seems with stomach problems and still improved to 21st. And his two Vuelta performances showed that he used to become stronger the longer the race goes.
So a top15 was not impossible. But even a top20 would be a nice result as well.
Unfortunately we don`t see it now but I guess the stomach issues are the reason for his abandon. |

Ehm, are you expecting Pinot and Bardet just to sit in bunch and get dropped by Poels and Thomas? |

I actually forgot about that thing. Seems like youre still on it. I'm sorry if you couldnt sleep because I didnt like Movistars riding yesterday. |

So you clearly don't have the decency which, tbh, isnt surprising at all. |

It's not as bad as it was in previous years but, especially at the Tour de France, Team Sky still have control issues. They want to control everything down to the last little detail and it sometimes leads to them blowing themselves up due to being just a little too fussy about who is in the breakaway.

Tinkoff-Saxo's directeur sportif Sean Yates who was presented with the fidelity trophy this morning for having participated to at least twenty Tour de France spoke to letour.com. “It was Alberto's worst day ever in the Tour de France or any grand Tour”, the Englishman said. “He's extremely disappointed. Now we have to accept Sky's domination and get on with it. I'm not surprised by Sky's performance. We know that Richie is strong. We know that G [Geraint Thomas] is strong. He showed it in the Tour of Switzerland. Alliances are fine but it's three or four guys maximum when a strong team defending the jersey is nine guys. So? That's mathematics!”
From Tour ticker.
Certainly looked like the worst day ever, the way he came up the last hundred meters. Unlikely it'll get better in the coming days but I still hope for some fireworks. Alliances is a worthwhile mention though, a bromance of Nibali and Bertie would be nice (Nibz for stage, Bertie for GC). If not, maybe Bertie will try something once he has legs are good in third week, maybe stage conquest up Alpe d'Huez can be a goal as well if he loses too much time in the coming two stages.

Some pee hype in the peloton might mean this is it, while I wonder why Demare and Simon are trying to join.
Would certainly be a very strong break to be in for Buchmann, I hope not too strong for him yet.
