2013 Season

We achieved our aim last season of improving on our 2012 performance, with some fantastic rides, particularly in the classics. As the only team to win more than one monument last season, as well as placing someone in the top 6 in each race, our classics team has a lot of work to do to improve on that this season.

Our main target for this year is to be more competitive in stage races, as well as being able to challenge in every race we enter, which is why the main focus of our transfers was improving the depth.

Whilst Gilbert unfortunately conceded the rainbow stripes at the end of last season, he will enter this season as the Belgian champion, while Warbasse and Van Garderen are the US Road Race and ITT champions respectively. Italian ITT Champ Cataldo also joins from Sky. New signings are headlined by promising British sprinter Adrien Hanzen, Czech climber Leopold KÃ¶nig and Swiss Champion Michael Albasini, hopefully making us stronger in all areas.

Hey, my name is Adrien. This is my first post as a BMC rider having made the switch from Sky. My neo-pro season was a massive success racking up 9 wins, including a WT stage in Beijing. I finished 4th in the U23 WC RR and gathered a number of high GC placings. I was the first EPIC rider to wear a GT leaders jersey and most recently i beat Brouwer to claim the honor of Best EPIC Rider 2013 on the road.

BMC were very keen to sign me for my neo-pro season and now they've got me. Sky was too focused on the GC for me and often i was left without sprint support. BMC has some great flat riders and the management promised to try and add a couple more lead-out guys for me. I'm great friends with the manager and i look forward to removing the 11th place joke from the team.

Milan-San Remo will be my early season target once again after finishing in the Top10 in 2013. From there it will be Giro or Tour before hopefully going back to the UK around the Autumn classics. I will be constantly updating you of my progress across the season so stick around!

P.S. At some point i might get around to explaining the nickname...

Dzien dobry, It's me Damian and I'm back at the team for the 2014 season! I joined the team in the late 2013 and I was thrown into my first leadership in Poland, but due to nerves I didn't perform well. Next thing I went on a private research tour to Spain to get ready for my first GT : Vuelta a Espana.

In the first stage containing mountais I got a Top 10 finish, but due to a minor nervous first nights, I didn't recover and failed due to the insane pace. This year I've gotten a chance to see things from a different perspective and I'm now 100 % ready to make some good results.

I represented Poland 3 times, twice in the U23 category and once in the Road Race for the Elites. Kwiatkowski got a 4th place and I was seen leading the pack beside Contador and my effort was a lot stronger than my previous efforts. In this break I've improved my climbing by great lengths and hope to do well at the team.

Dear Manager

Dzien dobry, I would like to say that I'm thrilled to have both Georg Preidler and Dario Cataldo on the team, they would be excellent riders for the season in the wait and I can't wait to start working with them. I've meanwhile realized that Adrien Hanzen also want to be a part of the Giro Roster, but I then feel the need to say why I chose Giro d Italia.

The reason is that I think the Giro would fit perfectly to my current level and because I already have seen the route and it should still give me an early edge, at least that's what I thought when I saw the route. Also the Vuelta is situated along two of my other goals; Tour of Pologne and Ã–sterreich Rundfahrt.

We are currently making basic season plans and you will be sent a message soon regarding this, as will Adrien. However, your plan is fairly similar to what we had in mind. It is likely that Poland will be the only WT race where you are the outright leader but we will be able to discuss more later.

Heyo!
The buzz created by the transfer season is great around the team. Whilst BMC has been busy there's been no major shakeups which has kept everyone relaxed and happy. I am very happy to see Fenn and Yates come into the team. Adam, Andy, Simon and myself instantly bonded into a close group. I've been working a fair bit with Taylor and Thor as well trying to improve out sprint-train skills.

In summary the off-season is going pretty well. The season start is approaching now and schedule discussions are brewing. Tejay wants to really attack to top end of the GC at the Tour. This leaves the Giro and Vuelta open for me. Owniak wants to go the Giro as do i. Can both ambitions be fully matched? That's for the manager to decide. All i know is that i am going to come out on form in time for Milan-San Remo targeting another Top10.

Still some transfer time left and i wonder if the the manager has anything else up his sleeve. Either way time to keep putting the hours in to make sure this season is just incredible. With that in mind i won't be attending CCC's Savona Cup thing. I'd rather focus on the real races than add more fatigue in events i can't win.

Dzien dobry, Hello fans I thought that now might be a good time, for you guys to know my first race of the 2014 season and it's going to take place in Oman with GC Leadership. I've also been negotiating my own Race Planner thoroughly and after some discussions with Mr. Griffin, I think we might have found the perfect Race Planner.

One reason I love being at this team, is that even though I should be a little bit pissed not to have a fellow Polish Rider on the team, Mr. Griffin has an extraordinary way of looking at things and coming with the right solution. He's always skeptic and apparently never satisfied unless Gilbert wins a Classic, but when you try to push him into an corner, he has a skillful way of handling it.

The team has been renown by several managers to have done the best transfers and I'm close to say that I agree. I can also reveal that I'm going to race and specific GT this year, but my role will depend on my former results from the season and to be fair I have no idea where I stand.

Transfers

With the transfer season done and dusted for BMC, we can now take a look at all of our new riders for 2014. The manager has been extremely busy and added a lot of talent to the squad. Here, we welcome them all to the team.

Future Stars

21 year old Lawson Craddock was drafted straight into the team at the first opportunity. One of the biggest American talents around, Lawson has proven his ability with the Bontrager Development Team and now will try to make the tough step up to the World Tour. Equally as capable on the climbs as he is in Time Trials, Craddock is the perfect young stage racer and will hope to learn all he can from Van Garderen in his neo-pro season.

Another 21 year old making a big step up is British starlet Simon Yates. Yates was originally drafted by Garmin, after being weirdly passed over by team after team, but both ourselves and Garmin's management decided it would be beneficial to both parties for Simon to come to BMC. A pocket rocket, Simon loves short, steep climbs, so will naturally be spending time with Gilbert this year.

Joining from Omega Pharma Quickstep, 23 year old sprinter Andrew Fenn will get a more elevated role in the team here. A friend of EPIC signing Adrien Hanzen, he will have a mix of leadout and lead sprinter duties this season. He may be young but he's certainly not slow.

Not only one of the most talented young all-rounders, Fabio Felline also possesses one of the best hairstyles in the peloton. The 23 year old Italian joins from PCT outfit Androni Giocattoli to bolster our sprint lineup. Despite not being the quickest rider in the world, Fabio can do everything so you can guarantee he will be there at the end whatever.

One of the management's main targets at the very start of the transfer season, Swiss all-rounder Silvan Dillier finally joined the team after being drafted by Champion System. The 23 year old is capable against the clock, over hills, over cobbles and in the sprints, making him a fantastic versatile option all season long. Expect to see him in breakaways too.

The youngest rider in the squad, 20 year old Stefan KÃ¼ng joined us late on after going undrafted. The U23 ITT champion of Switzerland will be looking to grow into the team by doing what needs to be done during most stages. Stefan has some serious ability against the clock and will hope to prove himself this year.

Another signing from Omega Pharma, 30 year old Belgian Dries Devenyns will be Gilbert's right hand man this season for the majority of the classics. Another jack of all trades, Dries will certainly get a chance to show himself this year.

23 year old Austrian Georg Preidler joins from the restructuring Giant Shimano. An aggressive, punchy youngster, Preidler has been given a great opportunity and will hope to show that he has what it takes to ride for a top team.

Leaving the comfort of Team Sky, 28 year old Dario Cataldo comes to BMC to prevent his career from stagnating. Whilst he may not be a GC contender at the highest level, his ability in the mountains and time trials make him the perfect companion to any GC hope. He will be a virtual ever-present in the team's Italian adventures this year.

One of the most attacking riders in the entire peloton, 26 year old climber Stefano Pirazzi loves a long attack in the mountains. Bardiani had no space in their new look team for him, so it was an easy decision to sign him and Stefano is very excited to test his abilities at a higher level. He probably won't want to spend much time in the peloton this season.

The Star Signings

33 year old Michael Albasini may not be in his youth anymore but, as a Swiss rider, it's only right that he should come to the only Swiss team in the World Tour to finish his career. After numerous great results while with Australian team Orica GreenEdge, he will aim to continue that success here. A phenomenally strong rider with a real kick over hills, he should also assist Gilbert extremely well in his Ardennes quest.

One of the biggest signings of the transfer season was our acquisition of Czech mountain goat Leopold KÃ¶nig from NetApp Endura. Both he and his manager felt he had outgrown the PCT team and needed a new challenge to reach his maximum potential, and we were more than happy to aid him in that. Another relative youngster at 26, his fantastic climbing ability took him to a comfortable top 10 finish in last season's Vuelta, and we hope for even better this year.

Last but not Least...

Our 30th and final rider this season is American Chad Haga. The 25 year old Texan is a solid climber and is also good against the clock, making him a useful ally for any stage racer. Like his compatriot Craddock, he will hope to show his abilities in his neo-pro season and learn all he can from Tejay and the rest of the team.

This transfer season has been pretty awesome. The team has improved so much and i honestly think could challenge for the top spot of the rankings! It's great to be part of something like this. With the manager having completed his squad we had a long chat about my race schedule for the season a few days ago.

The manager agreed my early season target should be Milan-San Remo, no surprises. I'll have some warm-up races before hand through January and February including an nice stint in Italy just before the race itself. The Giro has been firmed up as my next goal from there and i will be eyeing up a challenge at the Points Jersey with a nice sprint set-up in front of me. Then like last season it's a pretty packed back end to the season with quite a few races in August, September and October.

I'm very happy with the planning. It's very similar to last season, but hey last season was great! I've got some new challenges to try out alongside the familiar. Very happy and the discussion was always easy, flowing and simple. Just what you want as a rider. Now i know my goals i can start to put more thought to my training and progression through the season and i am very excited for what's to come.

Dzien dobry, Hello fans it's Damian once again and I would just like to make a brief description of how things are working out. We're currently preparing for Tour Down Under and it's been set clear to me, that my first race will be in Oman, hence I will start the season later than expected.

This has given me some spare time, but instead of wasting it on relaxing, I've decided to use it to travel around with the others and getting some experience of how to be behind the scenes. Don't worry I'm not planning on early retirement, but I will use this to get some more info about our new signings and give me a clearer perspective over where they stand.

I hope the team will do well and even though Phillipe will get some victories, I hope we can get some good results from Adrien and meanwhile I will lead the team in Oman, once we get to that point.

Hello Fans!

Just wanted to give you an heads up, that I will announce my new Rider Tab here and this will help the manager record my results of the season and to give an overview of my results to you guys.

You're on my time!
The Santos Tour Down Under awaits. It's the Grand Depart of the World Tour season and it has become a real great race in recent years. I am ready and waiting to join up with the full TDU squad and head out to Adelaide and get in the sun. My off-season has been good and i feel ready to go out and start fighting for wins from the first day.

The teams other EPIC rider, Owniak, doens't start until Oman and we get to race that one together. Obviously he's focused on the Green Mountain and i'll be going for stages. I look forwards to our first race together in a couple of months, should be a good one. Although i hope he knows Oman is in February and not March, just for complete clarity.

I'm eagerly awaiting the team to announce it's official goals. I am fairly certain either one of theirs or one of the UCI's at least will be target at me to complete it. I like the bit of extra pressure, i feel like i translate it into more watts. Put simply i'm as hyped as any and every rider to get going and start racking those wins up a bit earlier this year.

Goals

With the 2014 season approaching at an alarming rate, it's time for the BMC management to reveal their goals for the first few months of the season. Even though this is the smallest portion of the season, the first monument, some big stage races and the first sight of cobbles mean that it's still important. Especially with lots of new signings to parade.

The first few months can make or break a season as we found out last year when the team got off to a start so slow, tectonic plate movement nudged us into second place. This year we aim to win in January and continue that momentum into the Spring Classics.

Here are the goals:

Easy Goal: Top 10 GC, Tirreno Adriatico
Medium Goal: Stage Win, Tour Down Under
Hard Goal: Top 3, Milano - San Remo

We predict a phenomenal lineup at Tirreno this year and so even though a top 10 sounds easy, it probably won't be. We really hope for a win in Australia to start our season with a bang as opposed to last year where nobody knew we were even in Australia. And then, the big one, Milan - San Remo. With a new signing whose main career goal is to win La Primavera, we hope to give him the best chance to be up there at the end. He's not the quickest sprinter, nor the best over hills, nor the best in long races, but he's good enough all round to hopefully challenge for a podium already.
