sutty: As long as we can avoid wil bears and such Wink

Ian: Yes. I didn't even notice him before the line figuring that he wasn't a serious contender...

Shonak: That's what I said Wink

Miguel: Especially with Kittel/Sagan almost looking weaker by the day in stead of getting in shape!

Stage 14: Albi – Albi (ITT)

The stage win will probably be between Martin, Boasson Hagen and Van Garderen, but a lot of things will change in the GC top as well.

When Boasson Hagen goes out on the course Roux is on his way to best time, while Cancellara yet again has proven that he is past his best.

Edvald does what is expected setting best time passing two riders along the way.

Van Garderen is next of the favourites.

He crosses the line 1 second slower than Eddy!

Tony Martin came to the Tour in great shape.
And he’s not done yet. 40 seconds faster than Boasson Hagen in what looks like a winning time.

Ipsen is riding his most important TT ever to prove that he is a full-grown GC rider by now.

He did great finishing provisional 15th only to be beaten by two riders higher placed in the GC.

Stage 15: Mazamet – Plateau-de-Beille
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-15-1_zpsd0bcd9f1.jpg
With only two mountain top finishes and 50 km of ITT left this is a very crucial stage for anyone with GC hopes.

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-15-2_zps0b0d2ad6.jpg
No one seems too worried about the break so when the climb for Port de Pailhères starts Voigt, Rathe, Trentin and Arredondo has almost 6 minutes to the peloton.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-15-3_zpsc6569519.jpg
Masciarelli attacks on the climb to defend his mountain jersey, but that’s pretty much all the drama we get before the final climb.

He crosses the summit 3’30’’ before the favourites. 49 riders remain in the peloton. We have everyone in there we wanted.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-15-4_zps5bfb69e4.jpg
With guys like Van Garderen and Quintana chasing down the early attacks we just sit in the peloton for now.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-15-5_zps2632adb2.jpg
Ipsen is looking terrible early on the climb and quickly loses contact with the main favourites as well as his own main competitors.

With 6 km to the top he has fought his way back up to Urán and others in a group containing all the challengers from behind. Coppel and Martin are both further down the mountain.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-15-6_zpsa960b2cc.jpg
Willy takes charge of the group from the 6 km mark.

He manages to put in a very decent finish considering how bad he looked early on.

Hey, I missed a Kelderman stage-win?
Well, yay! Banana

Ipsen fought back bravely there!

Great time trial from Boasson Hagen Smile

Shonak
Good to see Willy moving up the ladder. Seeing as he put quite some time into De Gendt and Van den Broeck in the time trial, Top 5 must be the goal. Duarte crushing everybody on the mountains - I said it before but I say it again: This just ranks Fuglsang's Giro victory higher.

"It’s a little bit scary when Contador attacks." - Tommy V

Atlantius
Ian: Yes, he did have two good stages in GC terms!

Jesleyh: You did. And a quite epic one of that Wink

sutty: It was in deed. No shame in losing a TT to Tony Martin Wink

Shonak: It will be interesting how he handles the last week compared to his more experienced opponents...

Tour de France Rest Day

Not much news for you on this rest day, so we will just have a look at how things fared when the team rode in Sweden a few days ago.

IKEA Cup Grevie
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-15-Grevie-1_zps3dcf5c36.jpg
A hard profile, but Ludvigsson is motivated to show his jersey and Wallin is eager to show it was a mistake not to select him for the Tour.
The rest of the team was pretty much just along for the ride.

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-15-Grevie-2_zps2dfb157c.jpg
Wallin went in the early break. Only the peloton didn’t feel like letting it get away.

With 120 km to go the gap was up to almost 7 minutes, but then the peloton started gaining terrain again.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-15-Grevie-3_zps31474c3c.jpg
Statoil starts ripping things apart with 50 km to go and quickly gets the break reeled in.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-15-Grevie-4_zps89e649ad.jpg
Kennaugh attacks on the steepest part of the route with 19 km to go. There’s no chance Tobias can follow him here so Chris Anker is put to work in the peloton.

It’s not quite enough, so Ludvigsson takes things into his own hands and then the other teams start chasing.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-15-Grevie-5_zps8574c409.jpg
With 3,5 km to go 19 riders are together in front, but Tobias has used a lot of energy to make that happen.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-15-Grevie-6_zps73d06bf3.jpg
Tobias puts up a good show, but just haven’t got enough left in the end.

Ludvigson rode pretty well

Ian Butler
A nice showing from Tobias. Joel good to get in the break, but still that doesn't prove it was a mistake not taking him to the Tour Grin

Atlantius
krisa: He did veru well in deed. It turned in to one of those races where everyone was watching 2-3 riders who then had to burn all their energy before the sprint leaving it up to the outsiders to take the win Wink

Ian: Putting in a good effort in a 1.1 race and deserving a spot in the Tour is in deed two very different things.

Plus add the fact that the Tour team is so successful at the moment, nothing to be said there Wink
But of course, there's nothing wrong with him being ambitious and wanting to show what he can do, all the better for the team!

Ian: He was very equal to Olafurson, but ended up missing out on the Tour on the base of a worse recovery.

sutty: That's for sure!

welker: It was. Always nice to see a NC perform well in his home country Grin

Stage 16: Foix – Loudonvielle-Le Leuron
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-16-1_zpsa2a9d5cb.jpg
Definitely not an easy day, but the downhill might take the edge of the finale.

Nissan didn’t hesitate to work all day so we kept calm in the early parts.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-16-2_zps67ac829b.jpg
Kelderman proves a worthy wearer of the white jersey though as he attacks halfway through the stage.

Saxo-Tinkoff take over when approaching the top of Port de Balès.

Rolland gets to Peyresourde almost 4 minutes ahead of the closes chasers.

Ipsen keeps most of the favourites together by setting a hard pace until he attacks 700 m from the final summit of the day.

He can’t get the final gap, but at least he managed to get rid of Coppel and De Gendt from the top 10.

Rolland takes a glorious win to great joy for the locals.

Stage 17: Orthez – Col d’Aubisque
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-17-1_zpsf93fba00.jpg
The last mountain of the Tour is Col d’Aubisque. That will be a tough one!

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-17-2_zps92199931.jpg
Once again Nissan drive a hard bargain starting the elimination race on the first climb.

Sep Vanmacke is the only one, who dares to challenge them so 87 riders get to the top together.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-17-3_zpsa0ec27bf.jpg
With three NC’s and Bakelandts pulling Nissan keep everything under control.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-17-4_zps54ef5e04.jpg
With 30 km to go Brajkovic, Txurruka and Talansky has a gap of 3 minuts to the favourites while the rest fo the riders is shattered into 26 different groups behind. Arntsen is one of the riders in need of a miracle in order to make the time limit.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-17-5_zpsce012f09.jpg
With 50 km of flat TT’ing yet to come Andy Schleck has to attack as soon as the final climb begins if he is to have any chance of defending his win from last year.

When Nibali gave his helpers the day off they pretty much stopped on the mountain right in front of Willy, so he had to spend most of the mountain trying to get back up.

He did a great job, but the hopes of gaining time were shattered.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2016%20Novo-SAS/07-01-TdF-17-6_zpse4b49966.jpg
Schleck takes the stage while Willy once again finishes just outside the top 10.

6 riders including Arntsen missed the time limit.

Great racing! Daring effort by Willy at the first stage. Shame it didn't quite work out. At least, De Gendt won't be any longer one of his competitors for Top 5. Second stage quite a bit tougher but he didn't lose too much time on Van den Broeck. Oh, and from here it looks like a sure overall victory for Nibali.
Rolland and Van den Broeck should both be behind him in GC after the final time trial. I'm confident that the youngster will be Top 5 in Paris. Cool

Willy still trying hard Smile

Shonak: Let's hope you're right. He is starting to look a bit tiread and that could prove important in the last TT of a long Tour...

sutty: He does his best Wink
