VoetsT: Thanks. Let's see if we can prevent Gilbert from making it four in a row...
SSJ2Luigi: Thanks for the banana
Ian: Well it was his big season goal and with only 2-3 guys higher than him in TT-stat (though a lot of riders on same level) it's not really that shocking. If he focused on TT'ing (and generally focused more) I think he could be among the worlds best in 2015 IRL as well?

Matti Breschel has several medals from previous World Championships, but this is probably the best suited route there has ever been for him – and he is fitter than ever with only 52 days of racing in his legs!
Gilbert has more or less established a monopoly of the rainbow jersey winning it three years in a row. He hasn't shown anything all year, but that's not different from other years, where he has a total of one win in the rainbow jersey.
Another very dangerous rider on this route would be Peter Sagan, but his team is probably not strong enough to control things for him.
Some of the sprinters might even make it to the finish if the hills aren't ridden hard enough opening an opportunity for a guy like Cavendish to take his second title.

No, IRL he takes a Vuelta stage or two before becoming World Champion...

Troels Vinther gets to be our man in the early breaks. Not that we expect anything – we just want someone else to do the work in the peloton at this time…
In the end it was Østergaard, who made it to the main break alongside Nordhaug, Ventoso, Hermans, Bardet, Ginanni, Schär and Nordhaug.
With 100 km to go the seven in front has 7 minutes to the peloton lead by Britain, USA and Germany.
With Matti claiming to have the best legs of his career today we went to the front going all-in on catching the break and making the hills hard for the peloton in the last 50 km.
16 km from the line the chase is so hectic that a lot of riders crash. It’s hard to get a good overview but at least Cunego, Duarte and Gerrans seem to be down.
9 km from the line only Wesley Suzberger remains in front. And that only by 19 seconds.
Breschel is looking comfortable behind Fuglsang with Chris and Brian pulling the peloton hard on the hills.
7 km and it’s a 106 rider peloton fighting for the win.
Fuglsang tries to lanch Matti, who has Edvald Boasson Hagen on his wheel.
Not a lot of success at first, but 5 km from the line Matti goes solo.
2 km from the line and he hasn’t got much of a lead.
The group counts fast guys like Cavendish, Sagan and Boasson Hagen and Gilbert.
Being a good team mate on an every-day basis Edvald is just watching the others without contributing to the chase.
Luckily none of the sprinters behind want to open the sprint as they have no helpers left and the first to start sprinting will be sure to loose.
Going under La Flame Rouge Breschel has just over 20 seconds to the peloton.
And he does it!
Matti Breschel is officially the best cyclist in the world!!
Two wins in 53 race days might not sound that impressing, but when it the World Championships and Milano – Sanremo it shows you know how to plan your season perfectly!
Now on for a strong season end...

Ian: Thanks. I'll certainly try to plan a great season for him!
Marcovdw: I can see you went by the Danish camp after the race
Miguel: Thanks for the bananas
admirschleck: In deed - I always knew he had it in him!
MrUfo: Thanks!
SSJ2Luigi: The benefit of having enough riders from a nation to be able to plan the season for the National team as well
Daggen: On the short term: Il Lombardia. On the slightly longer term we still have to finish a season on the very top of the rankings before we can truly call ourselves the worlds best team...
sutty: Thanks. We have plenty of bananas anyway - we have to be able to eat them as well

VoetsT: Thanks. Second time in history the same nation takes both titles, but the first time they're also on the same team
Also a big thanks to everyone who voted to make this the first "Story of the Month". Didn't expect it, but it really means a lot!
