A nice and steady start from the guys in France Smile

Paris - Nice

Stage 3: Cosne-Cours-Loire – Nuits-St.George

The final hill could make the stage tricky for the heavier sprinters making it perfect for Eddy.

Early on the stage Nissan controls the breaks by themselves, but the last 100 km they seem to loose control so we sent half the team to help them.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-33_zps2258b448.jpg
The gap doesn’t shrink quite as fast as we want, so I tell more riders to join the chase and up the effort. That has some effect – among others that no one else can/want to help in front.
Pulling hard over the hill doesn’t quite make the havoc we had hoped and with five km to go five riders still have a small gap.

Vaugrenard takes a deserved win from the break.

In the meantime Thor is leading out Eddy nicely behind.

Not quite what we had hoped for, but the boys did good working hard all day. Just too bad no one else wanted to catch the break today.

One of the days riders can loose the race, but probably not hard enough to gain enough time to win the race.

i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-42_zps49b563d9.jpg
Pretty much all the other teams seem to have agreed that we are not to get in a break today.
As soon as we stopped joining the breaks everyone else stopped chasing them, so with 110 km to go four riders hold more than eight minutes and it is up to us once again to reel them in without any help from the yellow jersey-team…
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-43_zps6c71750b.jpg
Jakob did a lot of damage to the peloton pulling over the last couple of climbs, but the break still manages to hold on to a decent gap.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-44_zps2e5bcc7e.jpg
With 10 km to go it's Rabobank doing most of the work as the breakaway riders are no longer threats to the GC.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-45_zps1643cbc6.jpg
The break just manages to hold on to get a rare Brazilian win, while Edvald is the by far strongest in the pelotons sprint.

The most important thing today probably is that Jeremy Roy has been removed from the GC top after yesterday, while we still have Jakob, Edvald and Lasse placed where they should.

Lets hope Eddy keeps hold of the points jersey until the end Wink

sutty: The main target for him is stage win(s), but a points jersey would be a very nice bonus Wink

Well, winning a stage would be good for that jersey, so try to do both Pfft

EBH doing well

Ian: Exactly Wink

Jakstar: In deed he is. Now he just needs to win a stage as well

Stage 5: St. Symphorien/Coise – Vernoux-En-Vivarais
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-51_zps0145a619.jpg
For sure one of the most important days in terms of the GC.

i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-52_zps2530260f.jpg
The positioning battle on the first climb has one major effect: 24 riders split of the front of the peloton.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-53_zpsdfd2e335.jpg
Things are reunited shortly after the intermediate sprint, but on the first big climb Lasse and Jakob goes to the front to see how much damage they can do.
A few riders are lost behind, but more importantly Fuglsang shows he has great legs today as no one can keep up with him and he crosses the summit alone.

Things are kept fairly close all day, but when the final major climb begins Costa and Kritskiy have a couple of minutes advantage.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-54_zps045254a1.jpg
5 km from the top Fuglsang puts in his grand attack.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-55_zps1969a06c.jpg
Several of the big names join him, but the yellow jersey cracks.
After a small break Jakob continues his attack on the descent and gets a small gap to the seven riders, who had joined him in the attack.

A strong effort, but in the end Andy Schleck is just too strong today.

Time for the all-important timetrial.

i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-63_zpsc7523a75.jpg
The Ukranian champion Popkov sets a good time early on. Since he only beats our own youngster Tonning by four seconds it probably won’t be enough to win though…
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-64_zps97cb0f1e.jpg
A good bet for a stage win could be Castroviejo if he has found some good form. 39’12’’ is the time to beat.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-65_zpsf8a52fc4.jpg
Surprisingly German veteran Jens Voigt sets new best time 23 seconds faster than Castroviejo.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-66_zps0939f7d0.jpg
The French go nuts as Offredo sets new best time.
Cornu beats the Frenchman, but only hold best time for about a minute before Lasse Bøchman crosses the line.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-67_zps1fed63e5.jpg
But Lasse gets just as short time on the hotseat as Edvald is right behind him crushing the competition.

L.L. Sánchez is extremely focused chasing the GC lead and he beats Eddy by as much as 35 seconds.
A brilliant day from the guys. Sánchez was just far too strong today.

Still no stage win, but things are really starting to look good in the GC and the points classification with just two stages to go.

Only 31 seconds. You can get that back easy Fuglsang

dienblad
Great that you keep on continueing this story!! Getting some good results in Paris-Nice, hope you can grab a stage win and maintain 2nd in the gC!

Ian Butler
Fuglsang still in a good position!

sutty68
Two Good time trial performances from Jakob and Edvald Wink

And now Jakob looking real good on the GC Smile

The Rider
The team looking to be one of the best performing at Paris Nice, EBH looked like he lost a packed at stage 5.

Any chance Tobias Tonning can get into the white jersey top 10. Pfft

Atlantius
Jakstar: I will certainly try, but Sánchez looks really strong end determined to defend his win from 2014!

dienblad: Thanks, haven't bought PCM13 and is still enjoying the career, so I might as well just carry on Wink I will certainly chase the chances in the final two stages.

Ian: He most certainly is, though Nibali 4 seconds behind is not a very soothing felling.

sutty: Very good in deed - but annoying that Sánchez is in this kind of shape Angry

The Rider: They are in general doing really good. Tobias might be able to get in to the youth jersey top 10, but that won't be a goal for us. It's his first season as a pro and for now he has to help and learn (and being 10th in the youth classification isn't really worth anything anyway...)

Paris - Nice

Stage 7: Brignoles – Biot Sophia-Antipolis
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-71_zpsd8378deb.jpg
Charatcerized as a mountain stage, but I expect the mountain is too far from the finish line to be of any real importance for the GC.

i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-72_zpsd1634a3c.jpg
Most of the day Movistar did the duty of the yellow-jersey team and kept the break within reach. Then we pulled it all the way back in on the main climb leaving Jakob in front to take the mountain jersey and get rid of a lot of sprinters.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-73_zps5a6a8e79.jpg
On the descent Brambilla breaks away. At first we expect Movistar to quickly reel him in as he is only just over three minutes behind in the GC. But no – they let him get more than five minutes before Bøchman and Hushovd goes to the front of the peloton.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-74_zps034a6644.jpg
With 7 km to go Cunego attacks and Jakob goes right after him hoping to win some time for the GC.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-76_zps8189051f.jpg
In the end everyone has to acknowledge that the yellow jersey is on the right rider.

One final hilly stage to settle the GC – and the final chance for us to win a stage…

Hushovd is very active trying to get in the break early on but Movistar and Saxo – Tinkoff reel everything in.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-81_zpsa987ae64.jpg
After those early attempts everyone just give up and it’s a united peloton who rides the first 100 km. Fortunately for Fuglsang that means he is allowed to secure the mountain jersey with minimum effort.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/03-04-ParisNice-82_zps2cd0fd3c.jpg
On the penultimate climb some of the big names starts attacking lead by Cunego. I tell Jakob to stay near the yellow jersey for now.

As expected Sánchez attacks on the final climb and Fuglsang is ready to go after him.

It’s a hectic ride down the last hill with everyone either defending their position madly or chasing the last chance for glory.

Fuglsang does his best in the sprint, but used a lot of energy trying to keep up with the biggest names of the game.

The sponsors wanted us to get a stage win. We failed in that, but a GC third, the mountain jersey and the points jersey should be able to compensate somewhat for the failure.

Soon you will get an update from a surprisingly good Tirreno - Adriatico

sutty68
Damn you Sanchez Angry

But what a Great podium from Fuglsang though Smile

Atlantius
Ian: Thanks, Tirreno is only on report, but it's actionpacked Wink

sutty: Sánchez is really strong in the early season for the second year in a row, so third after him and Nibali is in deed a great result!
