It’s not like there wasn’t any tries but crossing the 100 km mark all 177 riders were in the main peloton.
With 20 km to go Boom, Cancellara and Swift holds 52 seconds to Offredo and Le Lay and another 36 seconds to the peloton.
7,6 km left and time to start organizing trains as the last breakers are caught.
Vodafone had prepared a terrifying train with Sagan-Boasson Hagen-Cavendish. Cavendish got pushed away from Edvalds wheel by Thor though and lost contact with his train right as the sprint started for real.
Boasson Hagen almost has it, but Cavendish and Greipel are coming fast from behind on the line. Cavendish celebrates, but starts too early as he loses that bit of momentum allowing Greipel to steal the stage.

Stage 11: Bruzelles – Saint-Vith
This stage is gonna hurt a lot of people/teams. Hopefully we will get through it alive…
Going in to the first big cobbled section of the day we keep everyone near the front of the peloton while Pozzato makes sure it won’t be easy overwith. And a good thing that as the peloton breaks and our entire team remains in the 63-rider front group.
With 100 km to go 7 riders have nine minutes to the peloton. Levarlet is bravely fighting for his dots.
Early on we decided not to worry too much about the break, but rather focus on the GC. So on the cobbled descent we send Thor to the front to give it all he has and see if we can shake someone. Especially the Schlecks should dislike this…
It doesn’t quite have the massive effect we had hoped for but it does help tire out some teams.
With 13 km to the finish Westra is alone in front. 40 seconds ahead of Porte, 60 seconds ahead of El Fares and 1’40’’ ahead of the main favourites group with Hushovd, Löfkvist and Hansen.
With 9 km to go Jesper Hansen is off to show himself a worthy wearer of the white jersey (He is the only U25-rider left in the favourites group).
Jesper puts in a strong effort to finish 3rd on the stage while Thor and Thomas finish inside the favourites group.
I’m surprised how little impact the cobbles ended up having. Only Horner, Poels and Machado of the riders in a decent GC position lost any significant time today. At least we managed to crack Moser on the cobbles eliminating him effectively from the young riders classification.
Jakstar: Yeah, it was one of those big dilemmas you have when aiming for more than one thing. I considered sending out Thor, but believed that the stage might be more favourable for strong hilly riders than cobbled riders (which the results confirm), so I decided to use Hushovd as a super-domestique protecting Löfkvist and Hansen and see if I could shake any of the favourites on the cobbles.
But in deed a nice third for Jesper Hansen
Supposed to be a flat stage, but hopefully the hill can be used to get rid of some of the heavy sprinters.
The intermediate sprints is taken care of by a 16-rider breakaway 1’30’’ ahead of the peloton.
As announced we try to challenge the sprinters on the hill. Five riders have a gap of 3 minutes right now.
We force Cavendish, Greipel and Farrar to fall to the back of the peloton, but they just manage to hold on.
With 9 km to the line the break is almost caught and Cancellara goes solo.
Löfkvist delivers Thor nicely for the finish, but four riders are still out in front.
Spartacus is immensely strong and takes another one.
Hushovd just manage to hold most of the main sprinters behind gaining a little ground in the battle for green. Guess the hard work on the hill paid off in the end anyway…

Stage 13: Sallanches – Grenoble
Quite some hills on the menu today…
Not much drama on the first climb, but on the descent Boom started to attack and got company by Vanotti, Kyrienka and Hushovd.
Thor was allowed to take the intermediate sprint without controversy.
For Thor the break was really all about the intermediate sprint, but seeing as the break had a gap of 11 minutes with 100 km to go it might me time to change the tactics slightly.
With 50 km to go Boom is no longer in the front group. The trio still has 9’30’’ to the peloton where Orica – GreenEdge seems to be preparing an attack for Andy Schleck.
Going over the last mountain top the break still has 9 minutes. Thor was struggling but managed to hold on to Kiryinka and Vanotti on the climb. Now time to recover before the sprint.
None of the favourites moved, so closing in on the summit Thomas is off chasing some time for the GC.
Final 6 km and nothing can prevent the break from lasting (except perhaps a bear). Löfkvist have been reeled back in behind.
In the last 8 km it was completely impossible to make any of the two others pass Thor, so it turns in to a very tactical sprint.
Kiryinka opens the sprint with 1,5 km to go.
But there really never was any doubt about who was fastest here!
Thomas and Jesper did brilliantly in surprising the others in the main group making this stage close to perfect!
This stage might be short, but climbing the Galibier is never easy! It shoule be a very fast and active stage.
Nothing decisive happened up until the intermediate sprint, where Thor came second right in front of Cavendish.
With 20 km of Galibier left Basso, Kruijswijk, Rabottini and Rodríguez has 1’24’’ to Valverde and Poels who have 3’06’’ to the main group.
With 13 km to the top Gesink decides it’s time to start racing for real. Jesper and Thomas are ready near the front and tries to follow the best they can.
Kruijswijk, Basso and Purito manage to hold on all the way and the Dutchman takes a brilliant win.
Löfkvist and Hansen fights the best they know, but both lack a bit to be able to compete with the absolute best climbers.
Rasmus Guldhammer had a terrible day, so now Jesper is looking very comfortable in white.

Stage 15: Besancon – Super-Sauze
Another fairly hard stage opening with Col d’Izoard right from the first km.
Contador is showing no mercy and reels in all early breaks himself.
Halfway up the mountain Guldhammer takes over for Alberto.
[img][/img]
With 1 km to the top Löfkvist goes to the front to get the mountain points. 38 riders remain in the front group…
With 12 km to the intermediate a couple of groups have come up from behind. Including Hushovds group. This should be a very good opportunity for him to get some valuable points in the battle for green. Jelle Vanendert surprised him with an early attack, but Thor still gets enough points to be back in green.
On the small Mont Guillaume Thomas goes the front of the peloton to pull it over and get the points on the top. Instead he just rides slowly away and has a minute down to the favourites when crossing the top alone. He is reeled back in by Monfort and with 50 km to go 56 riders comprise the front group.
Löfkvist is second over the last “free-standing” climb as Rabottini attacked early and have build a gap of about three minutes.
Going in to the final 5 km Rabottini still has 2’38’’ on the peloton, but Contador & Co. are yet to make a move.
Contador pedals away with 4,5 km to the top and no one is able to challenge him at any point…
As expected quite a lot of riders missed the time limit due to the hard pace from the start. We lost both Krutzfeldt, who missed it by a minute or so as well as Jebjerg and Madsen. Other noteworthy riders out are Kittel, Galimzyanov, Swift, Kristoff and Goss. 150 riders left and we haven’t even hit the worst mountain yet…
Miguel: 85 MO (Same as Schleck, Nibali has 83), STA: 81 (as Schleck, Nibali on 80), RES 79 (Schleck 81, Nibali 78), REC 84 (Schleck 82, Nibali 79)
sutty: They are, and there's quite a lot of them here
Jakstar: Thanks . I bet Cavendish is furious in the team bus after this...
Ian: I have it from Daily's 2012-DB for PCM11. It's v10 made by Nilserik. If you're lucky he might still have the files to convert for PCM12. There's some evry nice stages in here!
