9 minutes to 2nd? Looks like Contador took a little bit too much steak for that race.

Miguel98: Yeah, and that's even right after finishing 2nd in the Giro and going on to race the Tour. Talk about suspicious...
No one managed to follow him on a single attack - he just went off and then people cracked behind!

We know it would be next to impossible to beat Boasson Hagen, but that won’t stop us trying…

The riders expected to battle this one out it Bøchman, Alex Rasmussen, Fuglsang, Quaade and Norman Hansen.

Blue Water is having a brilliant day as Lasse Norman Hansen sets best time - a time Fuglsang is not able to beat! First rider to beat Lasse is team mate Rasmus Quaade.

Mads Christensen of Glud & Marstrand – LRØ is even faster. Only Bøchman and Rasmussen left on the route by now.

Lasse have really enjoyed riding in the champions jersey this last year and just manage to beat Christensen. They are no match for Alex Rasmussen in shape though. Brilliant ride by Alex, but disappointing for us to lose the jersey.

Larsson have had a monopoly of this title the last few years, but this year he is not in top shape so perhaps it is time for someone else to wear the flag?

Unfortunately Kessiakoff managed to do just that. He even managed to break the monopoly with his perhaps best TT ever.

Admitted: That was quite disappointing. Of course the Norwegian championship was never within our reach and Alex is hard to beat in a TT when he is in top shape.

I didn't see Kessiakoff's strong TT coming though. He is not a bad TT'er, but Ludvigsson in a decent form should beat Fredrik 9 out of 10 times!

Jakstar: In deed. No surprise in Norway and on paper Alex Rasmussen is the best Danish TT'er so I guess that's fair as well but I can't figure out how Kessiakoff managed to pull off a TT that strong! The RR's should be much better Wink

With the form Edvald have been showing lately the key to winning this race is finishing without him. Preferably without Kristoff as well…

i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2014%20Volvo%20Stark/06-25-Norge2_zps39fc493f.jpg
For once in the Norwegian Championship Boasson Hagen and Nordhaug are ready to work right from the start so we can’t get Thor in a break as hoped. With 40 km to go 21 riders are left in the front group.
The Vodafone riders take turns in front for the last 100 km. They are hoping to tire Thor, but this is right up our alley.
Slowly more and more fall behind and when the group goes in to the last With 10 km only Nordhaug, Boasson Hagen and Hushovd remain in front. Guess it will be a sprint after all. Hopefully Edvald will be tired after working a lot today.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2014%20Volvo%20Stark/06-25-Norge3_zps18933a22.jpg
Thor didn’t quite feel comfortable by a sprint so with 5 km to go on a small flat section before the final 3 km downhill he is off. Edvald relies on Nordhaug to catch Thor.
That was the last mistake he made today!

200 km of ups and downs. We have a strong team and anything except a win will be considered a failure.

Lots and lots of attacking right from the start, but for some reason GM – LRØ keep reeling the breaks back in – even when they’re in the break themselves!
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2014%20Volvo%20Stark/06-25-Danmark1_zps29e68983.jpg
So we figured that if we can’t get in a break we might as well take charge and make the race hard from the peloton.
With 50 km to go we have reduced the peloton to 36 riders with Nikola Aistrup, Jonas Aaen Jørgensen and Mads Andersen out in front with about a minutes advantage. Everything going according to the plan B this far…
9 km to go and Bøchman sets in his move. Surprisingly no one follows him and he quickly gets half a minute alone.

With the form Kessiakoff showed in the TT we will have to keep a close eye on him and make sure he is either gone or tired when the final kms approach.

Right from the start I told Tobias Ludvigsson to get in a break. If possible with an IKEA-rider and one of the Concordia-guys. He did so even though three IKEA-riders might be overdoing it a bit.
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2014%20Volvo%20Stark/06-25-Sverige1_zps18857589.jpg
With 100 km to go the gap has grown to 17’25’’. Kessiakoff still not looking to start working and with IKEA and Concordia satisfied to be in the break he doesn't get much help…
I have to say I find it rather embarrassing that Kessiakoff still won’t do anything. An alliance with the other “lone riders” could have been strong. The route fits Wetterhall as well and Håkan Nilsson should have good chances in a sprint.

The three IKEA guys could become a problem in the finale, so Tobias put on the pressure on the hills to shake them and it pays off. With 7 km to go he is alone with Sebastian Balck 1’40’’ ahead of the three other breakers and about a millennium ahead of the main group.
Having absolutely no risk of getting caught from behind the last 5 km turns extremely tactical with neither Tobias nor Sebastian willing to lead. Both knows that the one who opens the sprint will be the one losing it...
i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q675/AllanHG/Nordic%20Cycling%20Project/2014%20Volvo%20Stark/06-25-Sverige2_zpsc64f05f9.jpg
In the end Balck opens the sprint and Tobias can call himself Swedish Champion.

Rider of the month: Alberto Contador, Team Saxo – Tinkoff. Complete domination in Tour de Suisse and a Spanish TT-championship. Not bad for a month in-between two Grand Tours.
Nordic rider of the month: Edvald Boasson Hagen, Team Vodafone. For winning Ster ZLM Tour including the mountain jersey, the points jersey and four of the five stages. Along with that a completely sueperior show of power in the Norwegian TT-championship.

Edvald Boasson Hagen, Team Vodafone

For the last 1½ month you have completely dominated the races you take part in making you the rider with the most victories of all this season. Yet you are only 106th in the World Tour rankings. That must feel weird?
It does. When I signed with Sky for the 2010-season I was promised to be captain in the biggest races when I have developed and then the management go signing riders like Cavendish and Sagan, who target the same races as me. That is very disappointing for me!

So you will not be staying with Vodafone next season?
It this point I can’t give you any details, but I promise you that next season I will not be riding mainly as support for others. I’m going into the best years of my career and I will not waste them on a team that doesn’t appreciate my qualities!

One team does spring to mind when a Nordic profile seeks a new team though…
Haha… I guess it does, but since we aren’t allowed to negotiate contracts until tomorrow I can’t tell you anything. Except that I’m leaving all doors open as long as I get to be captain on a WT-team.

You’re all set up for Tour de France. What will be your role their?
The same as usual – babysitting for Mark and then riding my own chance in the TT’s. 18 days at the office and three days of fun…

Well good luck with that. We’ll look forward to seeing you dominate on the World Tour next season…

It is expected that the announced replacement of Glud & Marstrand with the major Danish phone company TDC will increase the team budget next year. What will this mean for Danish cycling in the future – especially considering DONG energys replacement of Concordia Forsikring? Two big companies replaces two small in the peloton.

Quite a lot of high-profile riders have yet to sign a contract for next season. Among the most noteworthy are Cavendish, Urán and Wiggins from Team Vodafone. A team that apparently will be looking very different next season. Also RadioShack is parting with a lot of their best riders as are Liquigas – Cannondale. This will certainly invite to an interesting transfer season!
