I think we are lucky that the PCMdaily databases don't cost anything.

Yes, for extra equipment of little teams. I don't know why you are so "francophobic", all the frames, wheels and helmets of Protour teams are in the FREE download pack.
After if you prefer the Daily, you can chose, but if you don't want to understand, I can't do anything for you ...

The fact that you have to pay anything makes no sense. No matter how many arguments you come up with, it's stupid to charge for anything like this.

It's better to say something and come up with arguments than saying something is stupid and giving no argument , isn't it ?
However I understand that people have some problem with paying for a DB. But try it (the free version at least) , it's a good DB.

We've already said that we're not francophobic - we're opportunistic-charging-phobic.

The best thing is not to charge for anything at all. Paying for a PCM add-on is just stupid, you don't need arguments for that.

The DB is great from what I saw so far. Excellent work. I love DBs with a huge number of teams and minor races but very rarely you see one that is actually playable. Congrats.
As far as the whole "paying for premium" situation, it's his work, the use of the db is not dependent on the update and it doesn't contain critical stuff. If he wants to give something to the people that contribute monetarily, I say let him. When it's all said and done it's the strategy every online game does. What makes this so wrong?

I have no idea what's in the premium package, but if it contains anything that's not made by the team behind the DB, you have a major problem there. You can't charge for work that other people did.
Even if it doesn't, it's still controversial to charge for community made packages. Mods have been available since CyM1, and no one has ever charged for anything.
And just to be clear: I'm sure this is a great DB. I'm sure a lot of work has been put into it, and I have absolutely nothing against the makers.

Just to straighten that out: I read that what's in the premium package was done just by team. My opinion was made based on this premise.
The mod is available for free. You don't have to pay for anything to enjoy it fully. If you want to give something to the people who made the db, you can give them x€ and in return they give you some more of their work. The majority of the work and the most tiring part of it is available for free. If this was just a case of people trying to score an easy buck surely they would make you pay for all of their work, no? (not including here the stuff made by other members that are not on the team)
It may be controversial, I'm not disputing that. I'm disputing saying that it is wrong to do this.
