The attacks start just before the first intermediate sprint of the day, and Pate takes the 6 points, from Schinker and Scheunemann


In the end, we have a break of 11: Echarri. Renang, Scheunemann, Schroder, Pate, Gallego, Schinker, Facci, Kaisen, Bret and Bacquet


Bacquet will take the 2nd sprint, from Facci and Kaisen


In the meantime, De Gendt and Baugnies attacked from the peloton. But just as they were about to catch the break, they were caught by the peloton, and the break doesnt last much longer


To the bunch sprint then, and on the far hand side, Alex Rasmussen is leading out Vanoverschelde. We also have Dekkers leading Van Stayen and Corioni, Arango leading Castaneda, and Vitoria leading Vanderbiest, Roelandts, Bennati, Farrar and Serebriakov. To the right of them are Weylandt, Lo Cicero, Cooke and Avelino, while out of shot, Bewley and Hushovd are battling for Serebriakov's wheel


B&O are going strong, but are being closely matched by Jack Wolfskin


But Vanoverschelde soon makes his move, as Cafe de Colombia and Pearl Adidas close in


Now would be the perfect time for Van Stayen, Vanderbiest and Castaneda to emerge from their leadouts, the first 2 have even moved alongside them, but arent going yet - providing somewhat of a block for those behind


As Vanoverschelde pulls clear, Roelandts spot a gap and darts for it. Avelino had the same idea, but the Stage 2 winner loses out to the Belgian, and may be starting to fade having gone from a long sprint after a poor starting position


Castaneda now makes his move as Arango moves over to block Bak, and both Farrar and Bewley are following Castaneda. Its a nightmare for Bennati, as Vanderbiest still has not gone - the Pearl riders are seen merged together here, while Van Stayen has missed his opportunity and now looks trapped with Dekkers


But amid the scrambles behind, this sprint has been dominated by one man. Kobo Vanoverschelde takes the stage, and with it, the race lead!


2nd place for Roelandts, with Castaneda 3rd again, ahead of Farrar, Bewley and Vanderbiest - who finally decided to leave Vitoria behind late on


In the action of the sprint, there was a small crash. Kaisen and Coyot have been forced to abandon, while also down were Cornu, Barth, Kolesnikov and Sagan. Kolesnikov was the Warner Bros leader, and his whole team drop back to help, but they, plus a few others who were not involved in the crash, have lost 2 minutes
