Tour Down Under - Stage 3
SportingNonsense
Todays big 3 favourites were Casper, Manan and Chavanel, only one of those would even come home in the peleton though, the Aussie Bookmakers again prove their stupidity.

The 6 man break is White, Sohrabi, Riblon, Candelario, Drapac and Sijmens.

There are attacks coming up to the big hill of the day and at the top, Sijmens, Riblon and Sohrabi prove to be the strongest.

The break will be caught though as Letua and Tinkoff are setting a very tough pace, with the occasional help from Nippo, DFL and Designa Kokken. Their hard work starts to pay dividends as riders begin to drop off.

With 40km to go a group containing 2nd Overall and Best Young Rider Ortega has fallen behind, the group also includes Hendersen, Van Heeswijk and Manan amongst others.

Its all over with 10km to go:

Before we get to the sprint, Graeme Brown and Alexandre Usov are forced to let go but with 3km to go, despite Usov's absence, 2 Tinkoff boys are at the front, alongside Julian Dean.

Hopes of an Aussie victory are soon dashed as the Estonian champion Janek Tombak moves through and creates a gap. Casper is lurking ominously behind him and Wegmann is tucked in 3rd position.

Tombak produces a huge gap between 3rd placed Wegmann and 4th place Dean and with a 1km to go, Casper jumps out from the Estonian's wheel.

And he wins!

Wegmann is pipped by Tombak for 2nd while Dean fades badly in the last km (Stopping sprinting didnt exactly help) and Kurt Asle Arvesen takes 4th. There was a very tight battle for the final CT points in 8th. I thought Hagen had got it but the judges gave it to Leezer.

On the overall front, Ortega drops from 2nd to 5th, Wegmann's time helps him consolidate 6th while a bonus sprint win for Riblon takes him to 7th.
