At the tail end of last season, Hans Dekkers was contesting a sprint against Boonen. With about 50m to go, Boonen unclipped and had to stop pedalling. Because of that, Dekkers managed to come from behind much faster than Boonen (since Boonen wasn't pedalling) and win.....barely.
Silent cries of "WTF" arose as Jon Vaughters saw this as proof that Dekkers could beat top sprinters and signed Dekkers for Garmin. Failure was predicted.
But against all odds, through thick and thin, due to courage and perserverence, Dekkers managed to......
.....well, actually no he didn't. He sucks and Garmin have realized their mistake, so they don't want him around. He's moving to continental squad Landbouwkrediet.

Apparently, Michael Rasmussen hasn't signed a contract with Tecos. The manager says that he has to earn the contract by making results in NE races - and if he's doing well enough, he'll be offered a contract, so he can ride Vuelta Chihuahua.

How low can your career get if your "big motivation" is the chance to maybe get a spot to ride the Vuelta Chihuahua?

Steegmans was known for a few days. Hermans is new and is a great prospect. Well done Radioshack!
Katusha meanwhile has signed a once extremely promising prospect who's yet to show anything in 2 seasons as a pro, Alexandr Pliuschin, along with promising Egor Silin and also Timofey Kritsky

Saxo Bank was also interested in Silin, but once again, their financial problems come into light

I think this guy is quite promising. Good choice by Cervélo.

I think I read earlier he has a lead of about 9 minutes after the first mountain stage of whatever race he's racing.
Might just be OK for that contract.

I hadn't read that they wanted to sign him, but that he wanted to sign with them.

Here is a little something. Not sure if it is a done deal, but Sterling Magnell may have a contract with Amore & Vita. Sterling most recently raced with Rock Racing, and Toyota United before that. He was stuck on the ugly end of the Rock Racing fiasco early this season, relegated to the amateur team, which means he has had no team all year. That is really unfortunate because, despite being 20 feet tall, he is one of the nicest guys ever. To give you an idea of how nice he is, at the local tuesday night crits in the pro1/2/3 race he saw I was struggling, dropped 40 riders back, let me sit on his wheel(as I mentioned he has a huge draft) until I got dropped for good.

it seems like Astana will build Italo-Kazakh team with several slovenians or croatians. And im very interested in that.
Somebody knows where Klodi land after this season. I think BMC could be good team for him. And all Astana swiss riders (except Rast) will be there too.
