Matthew Busche has signed with Radioshack. He went to my college and I have ridden with him numerous times.
First year as a pro, rode for Kelly Benefits as a staigaire later part of the season and was the only one to hang on to Hincapie at US Champs. He finished 5th while Bajadali, his teammate was second.
He is gonna be good for their domestic races in the US and should get to race some in europe!

Ho Shi!
How confirmed is that? I remember watching Matt Busche race at like Tour of America's Dairyland for Nova IS Corp (which is a decent sized regional club team in WI for those who didn't know) and then I was surprised when I saw him beat everybody at the super tough RR there by a couple min, then he won the series and I was thinkin' "pretty good local kid here" then I saw he got 5th in the RR championships and signed with KBS and now he's going to The Shack already? If they get a PT license he will have effectively gone from someone who raced in Wisconsin for a club team to Pro Tour within one season.
Crazy stuff.

Just talked to an announcer that I work with and he said he spoke with Matt last week and it's for real. Damn.

take it easy he's neopro, he has driven a few months at Kelly benefit as his highest level, I'm sure he's talented, but he's gonna need time to learn how to act in a pro field. There's a big diffrence between riding in US and europe.
And don't call him the next Lance Armstrong before he has proven himself on prop level. I know you haven't called him that yet, but I feel you are moving closer and closer to calling him that.

Matt Busche next Armstrong? He's 24 and just turned pro lol a bit late on that one, and I'm not sure he'll amount to anything as a racer if I'm honest, I just think it's pretty cool how much he's grown in just one season.

Wow, that's a big step - from a Danish Continental team to a Pro Tour team.
Edit: He actually had an offer from Vacansoleil too, but refused and extended his contract with Designa Køkken - with a clause, though, that if a Pro Tour team showed interest, he could negotiate with them.

I wouldn't call him that, 24 already. He was an All-American XC runner at Luther. VO2 was estimated at 70 something. So no Lance Armstrong.
Just excited since I know him first hand.

In terms of personality, I hope for his sake that that's true.

You do know VO2 can be improved by training, efficiency due to years of training and body adaptation, and, biggest of all, loss of weight?

I do know that, and I am sure it has gotten higher. He is gonna be good. He is a pretty "stocky" kid for his size ( 5'8ish...). He still climbs really well so far, maybe not against a top guy, but who knows! I heard he might move to Texas with Lance, and also spends some time in AZ/NM area where Tour of Gila is. His fiancee goes to school at NM State.

Why is everything I say supposed to be ironic? No I was not being ironic. I was stating that as a VO2 max, 70 is pretty damn fucking low. And as far as I know, no single GOOD cyclist (ie a pro) would have one that low. Unless you're a trackie, then your weight makes it less. But the absolute value - ie 5litres more or less, is what matters in that case, but then it doesn't because Watts count. And of course watts count at set VO2 amounts anyway. For example, my VO2 max, if I lose the kg I need to (to get to 60kg) would be about 78ml.kg.min-1, but my watts are incredibly low still, so thats the most important factor for me.
I know what I'm talking about. Especially as I want to make my life about this. (Coaching, not being a pro myself).

I hadn't realised everything you say is supposed to be ironic. Anyways, my fault. It's just every time I read something including Lance Armstrong, weight loss and huge performance raise, I turn my bullshitometer on.
