Well, I can give you at least my current experience:
I started with a stage race rider on grand champion potential yesterday. I thought of training the side stats. Stamina, acceleration and sprinting are just not going up nevertheless I'm trying to train on puncher and climber and stuff.
at level 16 I gave up and decided to train on stage races, result when going to level 17: +1 downhill, +2 recuperation and +1 resistance.
I don't know nif this is a general thing or not tough.

I have a stage race rider on level 18 at the moment:
79 mountain 78 hills 74 rec. Both TT atts on 73. I've really only trained him on Hills, to get rid of the low Stamina att (still on 68 however...)
Is it any use being domestique for a leading rider anyway? I mean, do you get some extra features if your lead rider wins anything? I'm really just riding for myself, and seem to finish before my "lead rider" most of the time anyway.

Nah. It doesn't give you xp or anything. Attacking does, and finishing high ofcourse.
What bothers me so far is the great generation of potential 8 and potential 7 talents. I'm in 2020 and there are 10 potential 8 riders and 90 (!!!) potential 7 riders.
Waaay too many.

Holy crap! How did you manage to win a GT with such a low flat stat is beyond me.
My flat is 68 and they somehow managed to "cook" me on a flat part before the biggest climb on Tour of Turkey so big part of my yellow bar was spent before I hit the bottom of the mountain and I didn't climb as well as I expected. So I guess being several points lower on flat and riding GTs would make those situations appear much more frequently and efficiently prevent you from winning the overall, but apparently, it's not working that way.

Hi to everybody,
How do you think that it's the best way to train an all around rider? Starting as a Stage races specialist and train him as puncher to gain acceleration and then climber?
Or start as climber or puncher and then training him as stage race specialist?
The problem to start as Stage race specialist is that he is soooo slow and it's so complicated to win any stage.
So what do you think about it and what is your experience in it?
I don't think chosing stage race specialization is a good choice if you want an all-around rider. They're by definition riders good on mountain and TT, but with poor acceleration and sprint what makes it hard to compete in flattish races. I think your chosen specialization does affect your development. As a stage-racer, I was training for baroudeur the whole season and I still improved more in MO than in flat.
From what I saw from other players, northern classics specialization gives you a chance to become nice all-rounder, but you'll never be great in high mountains then. But you have a chance to develop a rider who can compete on cobbles, hills and sprints.

I am wondering about the roles your being given before the races. Lets say your being told to not attack. What happens if you do attack, what happens are you punished in xp or can you do whatever you want and nothing happens?
And before the races there are some colorboxes to the left of the riders under team strategies, what does the different logos mean?

Don't stay too much in front when they are pulling on the flat and use the own effort effectively. It saves a lot of yellow.

Surely I'm not riding inside first 30 places of the peloton when I'm struggling. Using own effort may be the answer, but I'm surprised it could make that much of a difference. And I guess if there are any echelons, you stand no chance with such a low flat.
I remember when I was 62 flat at the beginning of the game and they were able to drop me on flat stages consistently. Each time they rode hard enough to split the peloton, I was left in 2nd group. So I spent whole year training baroudeur only to improve my flat.
And sometimes they ride really sick pace on flat for no clear reason.
It's even funnier then that my first win came from a flat one-day race. There was a small climb at the top of which I decided to attack and the peloton didn't decide to chase me and I gained 5 minutes on 10 kms.

How can is it possible to change stats in "be a pro" with the Lachis editor? It appears an error and can't change it.
Anyone knows how to use it?

I think the best way to change the stats for yout rider is using the Fast editor, to be found in the download section of an older version of pcm

Edit the .cdb file in the Documents\ProCycling\Cloud, to do this though you need to rename the files and remove the space between 'Pro Cyclist_1.cdb'

Thanks @Moxi and @the sim-eraser. I tried it with lachis editor erasing spaces but had the same errors. Also i tried with the fast editor but then the game didn't run, it get freezed, seems that didn't recognize the file.
Anyway i will try it again. If someone has done it, please let me know.

Thats weird, I was able to change the nationality of my rider without any problem and I had the possibility to change the stats also.

I noticed that sometimes it works, and sometimes appears an error. I don't know why, maybe some intern data. So i will advance and try until i can do it without problems.
Thanks for the comments

I hate Cyanide, i really do.
In my 4th year with slovakian stage racer, i was preparing for La Vuelta, where i wanted to attack the first GT podium of my career. First is usual TTT promo stage, where we achieved respectable 3rd place with my Lotto Soudal team.
So i advance to next day and bam, i am at the start od Avenir, that is not even visible in my calendar and schedule page, so i really had not a chance to choose to not ride it. Game let me ride whole Avenir, but not another single stage of Vuelta, which was actually listed correctly in my calendar as if i was there, but i probably abandoned it to ride "invisible" Avenir, where i was 6 points better in every stat and won it by 10 minutes...whole season ruined because of this shit.

I don't even know how that could happen, jeez!
Also yay for Lotto, my favourite team to ride for so far.

Yeah there are some really strange bugs Cyanide still need to work out of the game concerning the calender.
Sometimes you have to race something you don't want.
But the most annoying thing...everytime I try to remove a GT from my schedule, it is gone, but it somehow stays when the race arrives. I don't ride it, but the fatigue goes up and form goes up as if I was there, which really screws up my planning.
Hope this gets adressed in the next patch

Did you try to change the Avenir row for your team in DYN_Team Races? That's what I would do in such case. Changing any of the columns invitation_state, list_roster or pro_cyclist_state should work.

Just finished second season with my danish stage race rider, riding for Cult Energy Pro Cycling. 1st overall in Internationale Österriech Rundfahrt, with 1 stage win also. Same with Tour de Pologne. Second in the danish NC ITT and World Championship ITT.
Signed a two year contract with Orica GreenEdge where I hope for some good results in the Giro and Vuelta (maybe even Tour de France if I manage to unlock it this season)
