I'm very new to stage making but thanks to Doddy's wonderful tutorial I'm hooked. I'd just like to make sure this is one of the correct ways to make a stage.
1. I go to bikeroutetoaster and make a route
2. I make the stage and route (according to the tutorial by doddy)
But now I want to add Forests and cities but I'm not sure how you get the forests and cities in their exact locations like in real life. Or do you just guess the location of those things and hope its right?

If you have bikeroutetoaster open while making the stage, you can compare the road to get a good idea of the positions of towns and forests

Ok I sorta thought of that but then had my doubts so I thought I should ask.
Just wondering now, but there isn't a .dem file for canada or parts of it is there?

I hit the check stage button and like Waghlon said about the road overlap error way back its because the turn is too tight or something, but I'm wondering how I edit the peice of road so that the turn isn't as tight and hopefully (then) passes the editor test?

I usually (if it's a turn), drag the arrow to make the turn a bit wider.
Not so realistic perhaps, but it does the job of making the editor happy. Can't remember which colour arrow this is though.

Yeah this is my 2nd real try. My first was the Tour of Gila stage 1 even though its already been made, but I had 36 errors when I checked the stage so I gave up. This one I'm on now only has 4 and they're all the road overlap.

I had over 300 errors in my first stage making attempt. After that, I gave up.

36 errors isn't much. Often, if you fix one, 2,3,4,5 errors will go away with it.
However, the best stage I've probably made, I had 190 errors.

About 70 errors of all kinds after my first stage - but you quickly learn why it is that these errors occur - and so now I only get a handful each stage.

yeah, I had one with a river just last weekend. Fixed one bit of the river about 4 other errors went away. (The river overlapped in the same place more than once).
My worst error count is 45.

I always check my stages every couple of minutes - makes it very easy to sort out those errors

I made a stage up Mont Blanc. I check mine for errors every 3 or 4 turns.

Today I came across a weird problem. I had finished the roads of my stage, corrected the errors I could and then did a re-check of the stage. It told me the stage was good and ready to export. I hadn't added things like tree's or cities yet, and it had been about an hour of work already so I saved and took a break. I just came back to it now, added a medium city and a field, and then did the stage check again. To my surprise I got an error, but the error was related to the road (which shocked me even more), which had been accepted in the last check. I thought it might have had something to do with the cities and fields I added so I deleted all of them. But it seems the error is still there. The error btw is the "Intersection only have 2 ways" error, but I don't know how to add a direction or "way" to the road, and can't delete that piece of road as it is the very beginning.
Has anyone else come across a problem like this before?

yes several times. It's easy to fix. Youjust have to add new road and "connect" it with the section where the problem is
