So I've done my first 4 exams. Done quite well I think apart from Art History which no-one cares about.

Why would you choose that then?

At my age we only get two electives. Art History is mandatory at the moment but I'm dropping it next year. My electives are French and Geography, where there is also a mandatory course.

I remember some months or a few years ago, how it seems everyone here (or most people) have learnt French at some point.
I should not bother speaking English any more. Pfft

So, AP exams are on right now. I just realized I have to take 5 of them next year. Frown

Five in one year? That's gonna suck.

I only have one next year, then three the year after, then another four (plus two college classes) senior year. Luckily, that's a ways down the road Smile

For one year. My school has a 6 day cycle (still 5 days a week though) and once every cycle we have a double period of art, which is actually making art, and one period of art history. So it's not like we do it much anyway Smile

Plus, my school if for gifted people, so they make us try everything Rolling Eyes Pfft

That's what I got for living 10k away from the border -.-
Not that starting it in year 3 ever had any advantage, and I'm yet to seriously use it anywhere. Deux baguettes, s'il vous plaît. Ça fait 3 Euros? Wow.
I hope they drop that soon here so the children learn English early instead, heck why not even Chinese.

And don't you dare, the ESC just started to make me hate your country as a whole again, you ridiculous English-ignoring lot Grin

I only had French at school even further because I don't wanted my 4th (important) subject to be something like biology or physics which I hate more (the teacher and their style to teach of those subjects) than French.

The downside: I have probably completly forgotten almost everything I learned at school because everyone can some bits of English and not French. Almost never used it after school.

Here it was a 1 year mandatory in 7th class and from the 8th class on you could choose once your 4th important subject. Ok, I could also choose also from IT-stuff or Spanish but still French was the most "relaxing" subject because the teacher hasn't made of it the "typical German in the 30ies teaching style". To read from the book all the time!!!

45 minutes just reading 2-3 pages out of the book 2-3 sentences per pupil/student.

Our history teacher was unfortunately that kind of teacher. I think I learned more about the 2nd WW from the TV and internet than from the stupid book which was (even though I went until 2007 to school) from the early 90ies.
In fairness the book was from the 2000s but it was just an "update": The Soviet Union and the communist countries were replaced

Actually thats sad an nothing to laugh about Sad

But school was still to some degrees funny for example when your physics teacher shows you something he build and got zapped/small shock because probably he isn't the very best physics teacher.

Haha, I figured ESC (trade and business college if that doesn't make sense to anyone) would be THE place where people would actually be able to speak English. I guess we're a lost case as a lot then. Sad

To be frank, I never really used my German outside of school either, and since I've passed my baccalauréat (A level or Abitur for you Pfft), I've lost most of it.

Thing is we can live almost our whole life in this country without ever needing to speak a foreign language (all foreign stuff on TV is dubbed).
I'm thinking my parents want to travel to x or y country, and look at me weirdly when I mention that 'people don't speak French everywhere on this planet, and you can't speak another language (Breton does not count)'.
