Our sponsors really like this small French stage race for some reason, so we had to send a team able to compete here. LÃ¶fkvist, Juul-Jensen and Jebjerg were given the responsibility and it went quite okâ€¦

Kasper placed 3rd on the first stage while Thomas placed 4th on both the stage 2 and 3, which also gave him a 4th in the GC.

Oh and yes, obviously we took the mountain jersey as well. Christopher Juul-Jensen took care of that bit.

Mainly for warming up/maintain form. That doesnâ€™t mean we canâ€™t go for a good result along the wayâ€¦

Stage 1: Middelkerke - Oudenaarde

With a lot of cobbles on the route this is expected to be a very important stage for the final GC.

Yet another day with the Norwegian champion in the break.

One break does manage some success today. Fuglsang is in there. Not because he likes the cobbles, but because he needs to build some form for April. With 70 km to go they have just over 6 minutes advantage.

As we knew from the start Jakob is not enjoying the cobble sections and with decent cobblers out there it called for us to help Lotto and RadioShack in the chase.

Sadly Oâ€™Grady and Baer is having a splendid day and with 14 km to go they still have 4 minutes gap.

Bak tries to win some time with an early attack while Thor is waiting for the pelotons sprint.

Australian veteran Stuart Oâ€™Grady takes the win. The only second win since he won the 2007 Paris - Roubaix.
Boonen beats Thor on the line for third.

Looks like a sprinterstage.

Jens Erik working hard in the morning break, but the peloton is not allowing them more than two minutes lead.

But then 50 km into the stage the peloton start loosening its grip. 4 minutes with 90 km to go.
40 km to go and 3â€™30â€™â€™. That puts Jens Erik in the provisional lead!

10 km to go and exactly one minute.

Jens Erik fights bravely but the break is doomed.

Zingle takes full advantage of Madsenâ€™s late attack and just manage to hold the peloton off.

Vanbilsen sets a fast time early on.

Fuglsang is the first rider I send out but he is still building form and puts in a bad effort for his standard.

Larsson does better finishing provisional 4th just before Kwiatkowski sets new best time.

The home fans are thrilled when Rosseler sets new best time 6 seconds faster than Svein Tuft.
Bak delivers a highly disappointing 20th. 40 seconds slower than Boom, who has now taken the lead.

Cancellara has been pretty much invisible this far in the race, but when thereâ€™s a TT heâ€™s hard to missâ€¦

Admitted. This was a disappointing finish of the race for us. We had hoped for much more than we got, but everyone had an offday on the final TT. Guess I should have a chat with the team cook about that...

Still the guys have built some race fitness and hopefully they'll be much sharper at Ronde van Vlaanderen!

Rider of the month: Tom Jelte Slagter, Rabobank. The young Dutchman surprised everyone by a very strong effort in Tirreno. His by far biggest result this far in his career.

You have had a good start of the season with your 3rd in Paris â€“ Nice and 2nd in Gent â€“ Wevelgem, but still no victories. When will we see you win?

When the other teams least expect itâ€¦ Iâ€™m feeling great at the moment, so it can really come any time or maybe it wonâ€™t come at all.

You seem to be given a lot of responsibility on Volvo â€“ STARK compared to earlier. How has this affected your racing?

Only in one way really. Iâ€™m allowed to use my energy in the last 20 km instead of the first 180â€¦
I think a lot of strong domestiques out there could do the same if they were given the chance. For example a guy like Danny Pate who I rode with back in the HTC-days could be terrifying had he been allowed!

Will you be aiming for a win in Ronde van Vlaanderen of Paris â€“ Roubaix after your second place in Gent - Wevelgem?

Letâ€™s put it this way: I wonâ€™t not be going for the win, but I expect that Thor will prove himself the strongest in those races.

As earlier mentioned RadioShack is pulling itâ€™s sponsorship at the end of the season. Apparently Nissan will be sole sponsor next year.

Kjell CarlstrÃ¶m have announced that he will be ending his career (again) after this season. He is rumoured to get the job as head scout in Finland beginning at the end of the season.

The contract of former World Champion and pride of the British Mark Cavendish is expiring this season. Sources say that he intend to leave Vodafone to join Garmin - Sharp.

Ronde van Vlaanderen

Last year Thor and 2nd after Ballan. Hopefully weâ€™ll do at least as well this year.

On the first flat section before the cobbles begin a lot of rider try to get away but RadioShack and Orica is having none of it. Guess they have learnt from the last couple of races what can happen if you let a break get away...

With 100 km to go thereâ€™s still no break, but only 42 riders remain in the front group at this time.

70 km to go and now things start getting serious. I told Jens Erik to help in front of the group as several riders were starting to hang in the back. He pulled so hard that he ended up alone in front. Both Lars, Thor and Erik was sitting in the second group of 16 riders.

50 km to go. Boonen is pulling the front group containing both Lars Bak, Thor Hushovd, Jens Erik Madsen and Erik McDermott. Erik is starting to get tired off the hills but he is looking good considering his young age.

With 33 km a group comes up from behind upping the numbers to 27 for a short while.

With 15 km to go Boonen goes solo while Bak loses contact with the front group.

Tommeke was just a level above everyone else today.
Behind Thor is putting in his best effort, though he said on the radio that his legs were quite heavy today.
Lars fights his way into top 10.

We had perhaps hoped for more, but all of the guys said early on that they had heavy legs today, so considering that two riders in top 10 is splendid.

On top of that note that 21 year old McDermott finished 24th in the same group as Sagan, Nuyens and Gilbert. In the cobble classic least suited for him!
