All nice that everybody is telling Gesink to 'attack 'till Piti crack' - but he won't. Gesink is not a rider who likes many acceletations. Sure, if he's got the strength, he'll attack. But not time and time again. That'd be stupid for him.
Also, I don't think he'll be able to drop Valverde. Valv now just has to focus on one man, take some more boni's and it's a done deal.
Only one thing can stop him - a bad day. In any way; too few food, crash, puncture or just bad legs. If not, I think Valverde's got it.
Gesink have to try an attack, just the way he "attacks" (more just an increase in pace but a deadly one) in the very steep section between 5-3 km left. That is the way he has a chance to drop valverde, nopt by doing all a lot of crazy accelrations.

Stage winner Moncoutie is now re-considering retiring at the end of the season.
"I had a lousy Tour de France this summer, with two big crashes, but now I'm re-thinking about quitting," the 34-year-old Cofidis rider commented.
"Days like today make it all seem worthwhile."
Taaramäe described Moncoutie once as lonely wolf..who takes low salary and getting for return liberty to ride he's own way.
Then question..are you already better then him?..answer: no way!
I personaly respect Moncoutie..classy rider.

Basso's last chance later. The Pandera is a real leg breaker. I hope he's saved a couple of accelerations - struck me that he put in more digs at the Giro than he's done at the Vuelta.
Valverde needs to crash to lose this race now I think.

how unlucky was Evans? it shouldn't take 1:23 to change a wheel, poor form by neutral service.
can't seeing him getting onto the podium from here, even with the final tt. it's not that he's lost too much time, or he won't attack, but it'll be like at the tour, where he had a bit of bad luck, which made him care more about having a hissy fit than about the race. The same thing will happen here, unless he can grow up and fight for once.

So we shouldn't be surprised if we see Rabobank people stealing food and drinks from Valverde tomorrow then?
Don't be silly...

and dont forget that last TT (witch is to short anyway) is always different..man ho has energy left will be ok there.
If Evans is exausted and can't climb..then he also can't TT.
We need a miracle to stop Valverde..

Does not help..neutral service will fix that with 4,3 sec. and race organizes will give him bonus 10 sec. for compensation

Neutral service has been (at best) crummy this year. Remember in the tour when Jens Voigt had a problem when he was in the break, neutral service was equally rubbish, he missed out and rejoined the peloton.
It was a stage Jens could have possibly won too.

Oh and Cadel recieved a 10 second penalty for holding onto a bottle for what 2-3 seconds.
I've seen longer without penalties, wow the spanish are really against him,

Missed the stage (had to go to a DOB) but... Congratulations to Moncoutie ! I'm glad that he reclaimed the Jersey Naranja, he really deserves it. A very good climber, sadly he ain't good at TT so he can't contend for GC in th e big races. I still got some questions :
1. can somebody please make a summary of what happened on the last climb ? all I know is that Evans hasn't got any chances to win the Vuelta because of the puncture.
2. Is the Vuelta "done" ? I mean the only guy who seems able to catch Valverde is Gesink, but he still lays at 27 sec, whilst the rest of the pack have over a minute ! ( what on earth happened????)

1 - Nothing, absolutly nothing happened. Mosquera gained a few seconds. Valverde won the sprint to take the bonuses for 3rd.
2 - Not done yet, the gap isn't huge. But after today it's probally done.

Missed the stage today - but again, it's a non-GC rider who takes the stage win. Boring - next stage, please.
At least, Moncoutié is a "real" climber, not like Hesjedal or Cunego, so I enjoyed his win, even though he isn't really a GC contender.

You've been spending too much time with the "I'm a fan but I'm not a fan" guy

thanks doddy... seems that I haven't missed much. Do you guys think that today's stage could produce some changes ? I mean gesink at least stealing away 10 seconds (let's say) for Piti ? Also, when the hell did Evans had that puncture ? I mean damn, he lost over a minute !!!
