Errrr.....I'd have to disagree with that. Though, I myself would prefer to win one of the monuments.

Had an idea for rest days.

24 hour chaperones for riders in the Top 20 on rest days to prevent blood transfusions. Pfft

Everybody refill your blood bags, it's rest day Shock

Here goes the same post I always make after Grand Tour rest days Pfft

Certain riders tend to suck after rest days.

Expect people who will otherwise be very strong throughout the Vuelta to suddenly suck majorly tomorrow and go back to normal on Saturday. Perfectly normal.

Can you give us an idea of who?
Sastre's the obvious one but hes not here

The opposite is true for Sastre.

No one I can think of that's in this Vuelta. All the obvious ones that tend to do badly after a rest day are absent.

Basso maybe?

I thought that was part of the reason you gave for Sastre failing on Blockhaus

Nope, that was because Sastre does well in the hardest, longest stages possible. His great performances (dropping the other climbers), you'll find are extremely rare and only happen when the stage is insanely long/hard. Blockhaus was an extremely short stage with 1 climb that wasn't even steep at all Smile

Basically he's the diametral opposite of Contador in every way

What about Cunego or Danielson? I'm at least expecting Cunego to get back on normal so he can prepare the Worlds, but my guess is, he'll only do that after a really bad day in a mountain stage, which btw should be iminent

huh?

(and yes, I know what diametral and opposite mean, I just don't see how that works when comparing the types of stages Contador and Sastre are strong at)

mb2612
isso came up with some evidence after Contador failed in paris nice showing that he burned out in long time trials and stages
hence opposite to sastre.

Oh and I think it should be diametric

Yeah, it was the diametral part I was wondering about, but it does make sense with diametric.

Gesink said on the rest day he takes it day by day and his main goals are a stage win and try to stay on the podium. He also said he learned riding a bigger gear sometimes, especially when others accelerate...

Guido Mukk
Taaramäe told that he will try to get into breakaway today...
