I'm watching live and didn't see anything like that yet...
Oh, and the Vuelta a Asturias is nowhere near a small race. Check out the history of the race.

Perhaps it was where i was watching it at the same time as the Tour de Romandie, it seemed about as organised as the races I do...
I know its not small in terms of its history etc, i was just suprised.

Especially for you p3druh:
Tiago Machado impresses the ProTour teams
The young portuguese Tiago Machado (Madeinox Boavista), 2nd on wednesday's stage of the Vuelta a Asturias has provoked awe in sporting directors.
Euskaltel's Igor González de Galdeano says "What he's done today is the feat of an exceptional rider. I didn't know he was this good.
Liberty Seguros' Américo Silva sensed the danger and mobilized his team to furiously chase the escape of their young counterpart Tiago Machado.
As for the directors of Caisse d'Epargne, they had tried to sign the 23 year old portuguese this past winter. But Machado's mind was set on just one more season with Madeinox.
The french-spanish team has thus decided to delay signing him until a year later. They may very well not be the only ones interested.

Every year, same story. Let's hope he actually wins this Vuelta and someone snatches him at the end of the year because it's getting too late.
Didn't he renew his contract with Madeinox for 3 years?

And Hector Guerra won the 14km ITT stage 3b.
Machado keeps the overall lead through the mountains and the time trial, just ahead of Guerra, Samuel Sánchez and Vicioso . More mountains to come, still.

The portuguese are like the dutch, they have more than enough talent, but somehow never break through in big races

They lack the basics. The talent is there but comparing to the other countries, they are miles behind.
And the fact that the biggest portuguese team right now is not even Pro Continental doesn't help neither.

Hm. I see this as a compliment, from my understanding of it though very few or none of the riders from my country are near the level of a Thomas Dekker or a Robert Gesink, not to say others.

I think that Rabo is in trouble there. Menchov is too fast for his team-mates
