I'm waiting for the usual interview with the DSs at the finish. Guerra clearly had some sort of problem. He was going very well as usual, then completely blew up in the final km and lost about a minute. Probably a hunger knock.

The next mountain stages are going to be exciting because Blanco can't sit back: he has to attack in the mountains because he won't win 2 whole minutes in the chrono.

Giro di Lombardia..for shure.

Goldberger
Patrick Sinkewitz beating Cunego in a mountain stage? Easy......

Why is that strange? Sinkewitz was a decent climber before his suspension, albeit more of the ardennes type like Cunego.

But anyway, who isn't beating Cunego in mountain stages these days?

Finally, for Sinkewitz... When I could see in the start of the season that he signed with PSK Whirlpool, I said 'Wow, what a great rider in Czech team!'. But his results were very poor during the season and I was dissapointed... Now it looks he finally have found his form before suspension, after winning Sachsen-Tour International now and with his climbing in Portugal... I hope he'll stay in Whirlpool for next season... The problem can be he has very low salary...

he earns a lot of money not doing that though. So far he's been at pretty much every criterium in the The Netherlands, even when he couldnt ride due to an injury. Then he just gave the startshot, probably still earning half he'd get for riding it.

I don't think is that difficult for Blanco to win 2 minutes. Ribeiro has consistently lost 3 or 4 minutes to Blanco. Although he wasn't fighting for the GC in 2004 he lost almost 2 minutes to Bernabeu when he came from a victory last year and was 30 something seconds behind the spanish and only won 9 seconds to Arroyo.

Even though i do think Blanco should attack to be secure in the final TT.

Ribeiro isn't the type to fold under the pressure of having the yellow. Quite the contrary, he's the type to grow wings when he has the yellow Smile

I'm pretty sure that if he gets to the top of the 30km finishing climb on saturday with this advantage, he'll win the Volta. The problem is precisely how well he can hold onto Blanco on Saturday Smile

In the mountains i do not think Ribeiro has any desavantadge to Blanco. Ribeiro is probably the best portuguese climber and very underrated in the last few years.

So only one of the worst climbers in the Tour (the ones who quit before him like Napolitano are even worse) is worse than Cunego?
