Stage 5
Today is another stage that is classified as hilly but really shouldn't be tough on any of the riders. There were two riders in the leading group today, and one of them, Aitor Galdos, was getting a lot of support from the fans.



Eventually the facorites began attacking and despite there being little chance we would get away, I had to at least keep Capecchi in my sights.



Another breakaway victory and the Spaniard has to be excited about this stage win.



The favorites did have a small gap on the peloton but at the sprint finish we were all given the same time. I came in 6th right behind Lowe.



Next up is another flat stage.

Stage 6
Another flat stage that the breakaways will try to take another victory from. 3rd place overall Peter Voss went in the early breakaway so we immediately sent Hita right after him. They formed a group of 8 and built up a big gap.



The gap kept increasing because Bbox refused to chase them. Eventually other teams began chasing and the speed began to rise. One rider who couldn't hold on was Sokolov and he was dropped!



The breakaway was caught with around 8 kilometers left, but thankfully they were so close to the finish line that they couldn't be dropped. The sprint was won by Vicente Reynès as Sutton just barely missed 2nd and 3rd, taking 4th.

Stage 7
Today's stage was another flat stage. There was one thing different then from the past stages, we hold the jersey again. This time Mario Hita, our young trainee is wearing the yellow jersey in his first career race.



There was a large group of riders who broke away today but this time they wouldn't win the stage. They were caught far from the finish.

The bad news was that Hita couldn't survive on the 2% climbs, was dropped and lost his yellow jersey lead.



Thanks to smart decisions made by Sutton, he picked the right train and out sprinted everyone to take his first stage win of the Vuelta.



Tomorrows stage is a 41 kilometer time trial. The two riders I've been watching are horrible at time trials so I'm hoing to push my lead over them even farther ahead before we get to the Mountains.

Stage 8
There aren't many strong time trialists so Wiggins or Millar should have a good shot at winning. Millar was a little dissapointing. He was sore from the past few days but he still could only manage to come in 9th, 1'02 back.



I had another great time trialing performance coming in 8th only 53 seconds back.



Wiggins could only manage 5th, despite being the overwhelming favorite on the stage.



3rd place and the yellow jersey went to Rabon who made up 2 mintues and 45 seconds on all the riders ahead of him on the GC.



In 2nd place was Linus Gerdemann, who hopes to take a top 5 overall.



The winner of the stage was Lars Boom, who showed his time trialing abilities beating Gerdemann's time by 13 seconds.

Week One Recap
Everything has been great this week in Spain. We held the jersey for two days, won stage 1, took 6th on stage 2, 3rd on stage 4, 5th and 6th on stage 5, 4th on stage 6, 1st on stage 7, and 5th on stage 8. I now hold a 6 minute lead over Capecchi and a 4 minute lead over Seeldraeyers. Not to mention that we are leading the KOM and the Points rankings. Overall everything has been great for the team and for me.

Stage 9 is another flat stage so this report will be short. As usual there was a break that tried to take away the fun of the sprinters.



Eventually the group got larger and Aleksandr Kuschynski won the stage. The chasing group were just barely able to survive and Sutton came in 11th, 2nd in the bunch sprint.

Stage 10
It's the final stage before the Mountains begin and after the breakaways were caught it came down to a bunch sprint, won by Guarnieri taking the 2nd win in a row for Liquigas.

GC remains unchanged. Next up is the Mountain Stage.

The exciting stage 11 is coming up.

Stage 11
Stage 11 is the first Mountain stage. I have been waiting a long time for us to head into the Mountains. A group of 5 broke away from the peloton.



On the 2nd to last climb, riders began to drop off and at the bottom o the final climb the peloton was down to 37 riders.



Half way through the climb I attacked along with Hesjedal.



Hesjedal led me up the Mountain with only Seeldraeyers being able to hlod on.



At the finish line Seeldraeyers couldn't sprint and I could have taken the big win but Hesjedal deserved the win more than me so I held back and let him take the win.



Tomorrow is another Mountain stage.
