Stage 6
Today's stage has a couple of tough climbs especially a big climb heading into the finish. Taking a page out of my book, Kroon yet again, broke away on his own picking up even more KOM points.
It was no surprise he was caught on the final climb. In the peloton there were 74 riders left with 5 of them being from Garmin.
I made the decision to go upfront and try to shed some riders. I took control of the peloton and immediately it was down to just over 40 riders.
Somehow though, Kolobnev was able to go off the front and built up a gap of a minute. I was able to get the gap down to just under 30 seconds but he would still get the win.
I managed to finish in 5th place and Dekker finished in 2nd. I was able to shed the leading group down to 29 and some of the favorites including Rogers and Devolder lost a lot of time. The unfortunate news was the abandonment of Wiggins. He wasn't able to finish under the time limit along with 20 other riders.
