Hello, my name is Daniel Martin. I am 22 years old and I am a stage racer for the USA team Garmin – Slipstream. I was born in Birmingham, England. I was born to be a cyclist. My mother’s brother is the famous cyclist Stephen Roche. Even my dad was a pretty good cyclist, so from a very young age I knew how to ride a bike. In 2004 I was the British Junior Road Race Champion and for 2006 and 2007 I rode for VC La Pomme. I signed a contract with Garmin in 2008 and as a neo pro I had some good results. I came into the spotlight when I won the Route du Sud last year. I am currently the Irish Road Race Champion and the U23 Irish Road Race Champion.
My goals for this year are clear. I want to make a name for myself and make the Tour de France roster. I think I can pick up some wins this year and help my teammates win also. Of course I would like to defend my title as Irish National Champion and possibly represent my country in the World Championships later this year.

I think you need to write everything in an Irish accent, Laddie.

First is Dominique Rollin of Cervelo. Third is probably Rein Taaramae of Cofidis.

Grand Prix La Marseillaise
This is my first race of the year so I wasn’t in great shape but a top 25 would be a great result for me. The scenery was beautiful and it was easy to sit back in the peloton and take in the scenery. I had the support of the team and I was the leader of the race.
A large group of 14 got away and held on to a two minute gap for almost the whole race. We took the responsibility of keeping the break in check and they had almost everyone relaying.
With about 40 kilometers left, 3 riders fell and one was the leader of Française des Jeux, Anthony Geslin. All the Française des Jeux’s riders dropped back and worked to bring back Geslin, but he would never make it back.
The break was caught with 20 kilometers left and it was up to the sprinters to compete for the race. Bouygues Telecom set up nicely for the sprint and it was Fedrigo who took the win.
I came in an average 57th place. Seeing as I’m not a sprinter, you can’t expect great results.

Quick recommendation, if your doing the story in first person, always do it in first person. Martin would say "We" not "Garmin"
Besides that a good first race, would have loved to see you go for it near the end, but whatever. So what's next?

Trust me if I could have gotten away I would have tried. I had low fitness plus a fast pace so there was no way anyone was getting away.

My plan is to make this as realistic as possible. I will release his schedule for the first half of the year when I wake up tomorrow.
Also no need to comment on this, I will begin to use .jpg for my pictures.
Also feel free to give suggestions

He might not like the team, and use Garmin as a way to express his other-ness.
Good luck with the story, too. You have a lot to live up to.

yes only a 72. Pretty lowe for someone who came in 2nd in the Volta a Catalunya and some other really good results in the mountains.
