News in September
doddy13
just seen this on cycling news forum, looks odd but some are UCI confirmed.
Basically the flemish classics have been shuffled.
Wednesday 24 March: Dwars Door Vlaanderen (to be confirmed)
Sunday 28 March: Gent-Wevelgem (UCI confirmed)
Wednesday 31 March: E3-prijs Harelbeke (to be confirmed, used to be on Saturday, the day before the Brabantse Pijl))
Sunday 4 April: Ronde van Vlaanderen (UCI confirmed)
Wednesday 7 April: Scheldeprijs Vlaanderen (to be confirmed)
Sunday 11 April: Parijs-Roubaix
Wednesday 14 April: Brabantse Pijl (to be confirmed, used to be on Sunday before the Ronde)

Now there are some race organisers very unhappy with the change.

Not sure I understand those races switching to Wednesday - unless Easter is early next year?

I'm not sure to be honest, the idea is the Gent-Wevelgem is on a sunday as it was always skipped for in between Flanders and Roubaix, not sure what the hell is going on with the others,

Again it's a case of UCI failing.

World Championships 2012 to be held in my region. Limburg, Netherlands Smile

Expect it to be a very hilly course. Finish is in Valkenburg, just a few kilometesr beyond Cauberg, Start in Maastricht.
Details will come in a year I think Pfft

TT course unknown, probably starting in Heerlen and also going to Valkenburg

doddy13
I was quietly hoping for Holland, the course description seemed a lot better that Florence so that's good.
Should make up for a flat 2 years + flat olympic course.

In other news: about next years Giro.

It's already known to start in Amsterdam, but now there's some new infos:
The prologe in Amsterdam will start and finish on the 'Museumplein' (exact route yet to be fully made), and the first two regular stages both start in Amsterdam as well, with one finishing in Utrecht and one in Middelburg. Then the tour will move on to Italy.

The stage to Middelburg especially should be interesting as it's in the provice of 'Zeeland' = Sealand. The name speaks for it's self: loads of sea = most likely loads of wind.

And me about London 2012, it's an exciting time for this country. Olympic stuff is popping up everywhere, City hall has the olympic and paralympic flags up. The Stadium is almost done.

And i'm planning on getting to Rotterdam for next years TDF start (wanted to see the Giro, but time of year prevents me!), and hopefully Paris for the finish.

I want a WC here, someone is Estonia should cough up some cash and make a campagne to get it here.
Damn TdF organizers teased us last year with a chance of a prologue here but it aint happening unfortunatelly.

A TdF prologue in Estonia? Isn't Estonia way too far to make a prologue there? I mean, it's like a 3 or 4 hours flight from Estonia to France, and that for a simple prologue...

Bosskardo
From Tallinn to Paris under 3 hours. And yes it is very unrealistic but at the time it was considered as a possible option and it got a lot of coverage here.

Chicago 2012 for Olympics!

schleck93
Not the subject really, but my guess would be Rio or Chicago for olympics 2012, as there is no way Spain is gonna change their view on doping (IOC has said they have too to get olympics there). I don't see Tokyo either as olympics was in asia in 2008.

*cough* the 2 above, they are bidding for 2016.

And Rio and Chicargo now have equal chances. Tokyo and Madrid are out of it.

My gut feeling is Rio has a major problem, and thats being able to afford it. Chicargo wins.

(But i want Rio to win!)
