Well, I kinda figured I wouldn't be in with a shout at the end. I basically saw 3 options.

1. Try to get viv to end in top shape and try and win on a parcour that is not really for him.

2. Grab some early stuff for Meyer, if he gets pull back nab a sprint with viv then get to the end.

3. Go fully for Gallopin to stage win.

I like keeping my options open so I went with 2. Meyer triggers +5 at start and its like... yay the gaming gods like me today XD. Viv popped +4 after winning the sprint, so that made getting him to end pretty simple. I almost lost Meyer at the end but he just stayed with the pack over the line.

Glad you liked the report. Atlantius tips with the pictures really helped. I could show much more. Also just went with pretty much purely a focus on our team rather then telling the whole race story. I knida forget sometimes its a story about my team, not the whole of world cycling XD.

I'm proably going to do some reports that are a bit more texty, but what I might do is throw that stuff in some seperate side reports, so those guys that only have time for the stages can skip the extra fluff. And those that like fun fluffiness still get it XD

Yeah, he gets to keep it at least another day. Tommorow should be good for him too, its Old Willunga that will be the doing for him I think. Meyer is looking good with those bonus seconds though. Means he can probably just stick with lead group rather then having to force.

We could probably clean sweep this tbh. Fitness camps rule XD

EDIT: Front Post updated with the amazing NC jerseys Atlantius has blessed us with. Just wait what for what comes out when we start winning nationals XD

I'm seriously more excited about nationals now then the tour Pfft

NC's look really nice Wink

Flair
Yeah, I really like them. We both wanted to go with traditional sorts of nat jerseys, and Altantius said he could do that and fit it well without changing much. The results kinda speak for themselves XD. He is a genius!

That team is none other then Red Bull.

New spring can offer you The Mentalist Season 5 DVD shopping storm to embrace new episodes.

Ten Dam winning the sprint?

The race was nice, with Meyer taking some necessary points. The report was very enjoyable to read!

Flair
It was on an incline. There was really hard pace coming into it, its what caused my train to break.

Stage 4 played and pictured, so report coming up now XD.

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage Four

Modbury to Tanunda - 126.5km

Red Bull Race Report by Team Director Flair Adams

We had a great day yesterday. Today is about securing that day.

The sprints and KOM are a fair way out today, so we will be hoping a nice break forms containing riders who haven't scored yet. Everyone is still feeling great so we are happy to pull all day if we have to. Early season work is nice.

Stage victory is the goal today as Elia is great shape at the moment and our train showed what it can do on stage 2.

BOTD! Forms 25k in. Boaro (TST), Vandenberg (OPQ), Rowe (SKY), Vaiktus (OGE), Gretsch (ARG), Gruzdev (AST)

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS4KOMRoll_zps09218eca.jpg
They work well, rolling over the KOM with nearly 4 minutes!

So far so good. Gruzdev has good time, but shouldn't be too big a threat tomorrow even if he gets the full 6" from today's sprints. No sprint or KOM points within the break at all. No-one else seems keen to chase, so we slowly bring a few guys to the front, keeping the gap steady before slow reeling it in.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS4Meyerworks_zps746915d8.jpg
Meyer showing off his KOM Jersey and putting in a shift.

Moviestar eventually helped us a little, and the break got pulled back just past the 10k mark.

Trains at 4k. Favalli is in Viviani's wheel, Ventoso trying to get Gallopins?

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS4Trains3k_zps42493312.jpg
At 3k, Ventoso is thrown off the pace as Gallopin full off the front, job done. AG2R train pulling ahead, Orica train formed

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS4Sprint_zpse681ca0a.jpg
Favalli jumps with 2,2k to go. At 1.5k, there is a mass fight for the wheel. Viviani has a open runway to his left!

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS4Win_zpsc73f3c76.jpg
And he doesn't waste it, hitting the front at 500 to go and never looking back. Win two for Viviani! Phinney nabs a top 5.

Beautiful victory there, congrats Wink

Train did a great job. Because Favalli was on Viv's wheel it played out perfectly. Lars had just pulled off to the left so he couldnt go that way, had to go right and down the centre. Phinney had loads of time to react, get the wheel and because we were furthest left it just left that channel open. I knew there was no way he was gonna fail on that.

I lost a picture from 500 meter which sucked. It showed the whole road, a massive line of sprinters from right to left with Viv just taking the lead wide right up against the barrier. Was really nice, but apparently I set it up and forgot to SS it. And since i thought i had all my pictures I didnt save the replay XD

Next stage is the big one. Everything changes!

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 5

Snapper Point to Old Willunga Hill

Red Bull Race Report by Team Director Flair Adams

Today is the big one. In past years the race as been won here. Our big hope is Cameron Meyer today. His got the mountain jersey on his back, so we know his climbing legs are good. We dont have a massive amount of support for him though as our main aim is the sprinters jersey with Viviani.

So today we are going to try and be clever. We will look to set a very high pace in the final flat section before the first climb up Willunga to try and put some of the good climbers in difficulty and exploit Meyers all round ability. Depending on how he feels, we will keep the pace a high as we can to the finish until Meyer feels he can break to the end.

The Early Game

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS5FirstBreak_zps1454594b.jpg
At 10k out, an early break formed with Cherel (ALM), Kennaugh (Sky), Keukleire (OGE) and Vichot (FDJ).

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS5Marcatofollow_zpsb066c4a9.jpg
Marcato (VCD), sets of in pursuit

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS53tobridge_zpsa14cbe19.jpg
And he is joined by Rathe (GRS} and De Kort (ARG)

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS5BBOTD_zps7142d184.jpg
And come together with a 1'40" lead over the peleton.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS5OtherTeamsWork_zpsee47a9b3.jpg
For once we were not having to do the work, with other teams trying to get back for a sprint, before eventually giving up and letting the break go.

Other teams continued to hold the gap at about 3'30" throughout, so we took it easy, chilling in the middle of the bunch. Hense the lack of jerseys in these early pictures. That's going to change.

Old Willunga Hill

Sabatini (RBC) leading our team across the flat leadup to Willunga at a high pace.

Despite our efforts, the gap to the break way still to big for comfort as we crested the first summit. We told Phinney to give it everything on the descent.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS5PhinneyDownhill_zpsac780f9e.jpg
We catch the break before the end of the downhill, maintaining a high pace all the way to back to the last climb.

Meyer hits the front with 2k to go, grinding a big gear as many others start putting in attacks. The leading group comes back together at 1k before finally.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS5MeyerAttacks_zpse1665840.jpg
Cameron Meyer breaks for the line.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS5MeyerWins_zps692c36eb.jpg
And he takes the win. But will be awarded any gap?

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS5MeyerTen_zps735f5e50.jpg
Its Ten massive seconds for Meyer, in addition to the ten seconds for winning the stage. That gives him the leaders jersey tomorrow.

Cameron later explained he felt really bad today, which was why he had to leave it so late. Viviani almost made the leading group, but just missed out.

Its a pretty dominating show by us so far. With one stage to go, we lead all 5 classification. I get the feeling the end of tour press conference is going to be,,, interesting.

A nice win from Meyer to grab the GC lead and only one stage to go Wink

Flair
Its not over yet though. 7 seconds from Ventoso so its all up to Viviani to deny him the seconds so Meyer can win. Super team work!

Leading all classifications Grin Though Ventoso could still threaten him, try to take some boni seconds with Cameron Wink

Might try that depending on how it pans out. Ideally, I'll let a break go to soak up the sprints and then win the stage with Viviani. Even if Ventoso 2nd places it will only be 6 seconds leaving him 1 off Meyer XD

Guess its a Crit though. Cameron is meant to be good at those XD

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 6

Adelaide City Council Street Circuit - 90km (20 Laps)

Red Bull Team Report by Team Director Flair Adams

Short criterium race today. Cameron is going to try and break last in the day before the sprint to snatch the ten seconds away from Ventoso. Gallopin will try to infiltrate the break but its unlikely to stick, so we will probably be pulling most the race again.

If Cameron doesnt get away, its up to Viviani to make sure he beats Ventoso to any sprint. Its a good chance to stamp dominance of the sprinters jersey, not to mention good early world ranking points.

The days break is formed within 20k. Preidler (ARG), Soupe (FDJ), CUmmings (BMC), Astarloza (EUS, Porseu (KAT), Gavassi (AST) and Vandenberg (OPQ) get their faces on TV today and build a lead of 2'30"

Not much happened after that. We kept pressure high until the first KOM point of the day just incase Vanderberg won, since he could draw level on points if he won both and I wasn't sure exactly how countback would place us. When he didn't take the first max point, we let it stretch back out until the final run in.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS6Meyer15khit_zps9547504e.jpg
Sticking to the race plan, Meyer (RBC) attacks with 15k to go, breaking from the back with the breakaway just in sight a minute down the road.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS6Everyonecaught_zps29d7f61c.jpg
Its short lived though, as by 8.5k the pack catcthes Meyer and the last of the days break. Time to switch to plan B.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS6BadAt25k_zps7fdca8d0.jpg
At 2.5k however, things looks bad for us. Our train got trapped and boxed and Viviani is at least 12 bike lengths of the front (and 12 off Ventoso)

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS6LarHaulsAss_zps87392d5d.jpg
Lars Back (RBC) puts in a monster turn to drag Phinney and Viviani somewhere near the front come the last 1.5k.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS6CloseFinish1_zpsd40a3993.jpg
Viviani isn't going to win, but neither is Ventoso so the GC is secure. He mgiht nick 3rd though. Its really close between Murilo Fischer (FDJ), Elia Favilli (LAM)i, and Grega Bole (VDM).

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/bth_STDUS6CloseFinish2_zpsc6938800.jpg
And Fischer just holds off Favalli by a rim.

i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a557/Flair17/STDUS6EliaFourth_zpsc697c7c5.jpg
Viviani just misses out on another podium.

Shame we couldn't get another stage victory, but a very successful tour never the less. Really can't complain when you dominate like we have here. Wasn't entire expected, but our pre-season camp has clearly paid off with the results over the last week.

Very successful tour from a fairly inexperienced team. Cant really have any complaints with that return at all. We expected a couple of stage wins and the sprinters jersey and had half an eye on the young riders jersey but a clean sweep was beyond expectations.

We were fortunate in a rather weak field, with no headline sprinters and not even much in the way of top line punchers or climbers, but you can only beat what is in front you and we have done that comprehensively.

What's next for Red Bull Cannondale

Tour de San Luis 2.1
Roche, Spilak, Phinney, Meyer, Sabatini, Haedo

Nicolas Roche will be leading our team out in Argentina. Phinney will be our designated sprinter for two reasons, his fitness is better then the other sprinters in the squad and also because the time bonuses may come in handy. If the splits don't happen in the mountains (or even if they do) there is a long Time Trial on day 4 that Phinney could do some very serious damage on.

Tour Goals

2 Stage Victories
Top 3 General Classifcation

**Personal Goal**
Taylor Phinney has set himself the target of 3 overall top 10s in 6+ day tours this season so as to prove to the management he deserves a Grand Tour place next season.
