I knew you'd like it
@ Teddy: That's what I thought as well - but what can I do? Klöden had a shape of 78, I think, Martin 71. Sagan 94 ^^ And Valverde, who has 73 TT only, shows how important the hill stat was... But now we have the chance to have the first double world champion ever in our team
@ johannes-w: Thanks. Yeah, the team has almost twice as much CQ Points as the two teams coming next, and it gets even stronger now... I didn't really think of that when doing the transfers. But well, now you'll have to cope with another year of good results (I guess, and I hope, at least ) and then we'll see what happens...

Very much deserved, and what a surprise!
No way that he doesn't get the double!

Thanks @ all for the comments. I'm glad that you're mostly positive about the outcome. And just to clarify again: I did not control Peter! So it wasn't really "well done" by me
But anyway. About the road race, we'll see... I'll post the report tomorrow.

September 25, 2012 – World Championships
The Race
The UCI world championships are among the most prestigeous races in the cycling calendar. Held since 1921 in changing places, the winner is awarded with the prominent rainbow jersey for the following year. Four riders could win the race three times, among them Eddy Merckx and most recently Oscar Freire.
In 2012, the UCI world championships stop by in the Netherlands. The parcours around the prestigeous Cauberg in Valkenburg is very hilly, the climb short but pretty steep. At the end of 265 kms, we will definetely see a puncheur taking the win.
1 | Allan Davis | Australia | 2 | Tom Boonen | Belgium | 3 | Damiano Cunego | Italy | 4 | Serguei Ivanov | Russia | 5 | Mark Cavendish | Great Britain |
Allan Davis won the race solo in front of the group of three chasers. But this year, the sprinters won't have any chance.

Two riders overshadow everyone else: Phillipe Gilbert and Peter Sagan. They both had an amazing Vuelta and are surely the measure of all things on a terrain like this. Sagan has a weak team but the moral boost from the ITT. The strong teams of Spain (around Valverde) and Italy (around Cunego and Visconti) might have a say here, too.
Our team has two good chances for the win today. Last year's third, Damiano Cunego, and above all of course Peter Sagan, who is supported by his brother Juraj. Sylvester Szmyd starts for Poland.
Live Ticker
| | Km 2: | It's the Ukraine who opens the race with an attack by Vitali Kobzarenko. Jens Voigt covers. | . | Km 22: | But they didn't get away. Many riders continue to try. | . | | | Km 63: | 13 riders are 2'30 in front. Most important ones are Tiago Machado, Matti Breschel and Thomas Löfkvist. | . | | | Km 130: | We're about halfway through the course and the peloton has everything under control. The break is seven minutes away. Oleg Chuzda crashes but luckily he takes no one with him. | . | | | Km 152: | After it grew to a bit more than eight minutes, the advance of the escapees is decreasing. Italy and Belgium are doing most of the work with Germany in the second row. | . | | | Km 172: | The first riders start to lose contact at the back of the peloton. Among them is Michel Albasini, the Swiss leader. | . | | | Km 186: | And another crash, the third of the day. This time, it's David Zabriskie. | . | Km 213: | Germany starts to participate in the chase as well and both the size of the peloton as well as the advance of the escapees continues to decrese. | . | Km 222: | Now a German rider is affected as well. Paul Martens hits the ground. | . | | | Km 233: | A first major split happens: Only 45 riders are left in the main group. All major riders are present but Peter Sagan is already alone. | . | | | Km 235: | And immediatly, the first interesting rider attacks: Sylvain Chavanel! But still 31 kms to go. | . | | | Km 236: | And Phillipe Gilbert follows! Is he so strong? | . | | | Km 240: | They don't finally get away but the group shirnks dramatically. Only 17 riders, none of them German, are together. One minute behind the original break. 26 kms to go. | . | | | Km 242: | The pace slowed down again so Peter Sagan attacks. Gilbert follows. What a race already! | . | | | Km 249: | The Bemelerberg and Cauberg both have to be passed only once more. Sagan opened a gap of 20 seconds to Cunego and Gilbert. Behind this duo is already a 40 seconds gap. | . | | | Km 256: | 10 kms to go. Over the Bemelerberg, Sagan increased his lead to 35 seconds. Cunego escaped from Gilbert. A Liquigas double lead at the moment. The Belgian is now accompanied by Valverde. No other rider will interfere anymore. | . | | | Km 261: | At the foot of the Cauberg, the trio behind Sagan reunited. But the Slovakh is already 50 seconds in front. It looks like we'll see the first double world champion in the history of cycling! | . | Km 263: | Sagan is a monster. Only on the small climb, he added a whole minute to his advance. He will win for sure! | . | | | Km 264: | Cunego starts the sprint for place two from the worst position. | . | | | Km 266: | Sagan does the ride of his life! Almost 25 kilometers solo! He is the world champion! | . | | | Km 265: | The line comes closer and Cunego still leads... | . | | | Km 266: | But of course he's overtaken easily. Valverde second, Gilbert third. | . | | | Km 266: | Van Avermaet finishes fifth in front of Kolobnev and Romain Feillu. | . | Km 266: | The Germans had nothing to do with the outcome today. Wegman as their best comes in 16th. |

Incredible! Peter Sagan scores the first double world championship ever! He will now wear the rainbow jersey in every single race he participates in next year! And he also takes the favorite's role for the Tour of Beijing and Il Lombardia.
I don't know what to say! I'm so happy for Peter! He really deserved this title. And just look at his advance! He crushed someone like Philippe Gilbert by almost two minutes! What a ride!
