Has anyone figured out how daily fitness (-5 to +5) specifically impacts a rider's attributes in that given race?

Sprint: Effects the speed during the part of stage when you can use the 'Sprint' button, even if you're not sprinting; doesn't effect speed while attacking; it has no effect on mountain/hill(like hillunga, muy) finishes; stages have sprint/hill ratio
Maybe I read this incorrectly or else this has changed in 2013?
I thought all uphill finishes had an uphill sprint ratio that determined the mix of hill and sprint attributes applicable in the last part of the stage, in which case, the sprint attribute will always have at least some effect on a mountain/hill finish?

First bit- it gives a small increase to your fitness.
Second bit- you are right I do believe.

Not enough effort to keep up with the group, so he will drop back if you don't higher the effort

I usually use energy gel for sprint 7 km before finish line on flat. Around 5 km when the finish has a positive slope (hilly).
I don't know if gel use has a bad impact on recovery. It is said to reduce yellow and red bars consumption.

My understanding is that the energy gel kicks in at a certain time after consumption, and that seems to differ a little by rider. I don't know if an official test has been done by somebody, but informally, I've noticed that if I have a full team riding along at the same speed and they all eat the gel at the same time, it kicks in sooner for some than others. So the time to gel effect must be linked to a rider attribute.
That being the case, it would depend on the slope of the finish. The steeper the finish, the more time it takes per km and the closer to the finish you want to eat the gel.

Just wanted to clarify a couple of game attributes:
Endurance Stamina: Does this only kick in after around 170km of racing? If so a race of just 190 km is not going to have much effect on it, but a race nearer 300km would? If this is the case it's only important then for really long stages and classic races? For example it would be vital to high in this if a rider wants to win classics like the Milan-San Remo, making it a vital stat for classics riders.
Recuperation: Does this only take effect on the major tours or does this also effect on the week long tours as well? Again is this stat only important to those riders that want to win a jersey in one of the major tours or want a high placing?
Resistence: I've seen resistence like 'Fighter Stat' doesn't work in the 3D game, is this correct? Also what does the resistence stat actually do?

Stamina: It is thought that it kicks in after exactly 170Km, and the effect of it on a rider's performance increases for every KM after. For example, when comparing a low STA rider with a high STA rider, at 171Km the difference is very small, but at 200Km it's bigger, and after 250Km it's very big.
Recovery: This affects every single race, not just stage races. In PCM13, riders need to recover their from all races, including single day races. REC determines how well they recover. Of course, it plays a larger impact when a rider has multiple races in a row (like in a stage race) compared to a rest day between races.
Resistance: Based on a series of tests conducted by forum users, the consensus is indeed that RES has zero effect in 3D. I think this was also confirmed by Cyanide, who said they would not fix it this year, because it would require way too much programming.

Stamina: Ok so I was right about stamina and the sliding scale a great feature.
Recuperation: I can see the point you're making and in career mode it would effect every rider, but as I don't play the game in career mode, recuperation is only going to effect the riders when they're in stage races and again the longer they are the bigger the stat needed.
Resistance: Ok but what is it actually meant to do in sim mode?
Fighter: Do you know if there are any plans to incorporate this into 3D mode in the future?

Resistance in simulation should work the same as in any older game because Cyanide did not change it since like 10 years. Try the forum search.
