Hell yeah ! Nordhaug is a rider to watch this year. The team was telling in certain interview's he's one of the stronger on the team. He's done highest VO2 max on the team and now Julich is coaching his personally. Julich was responsible for Froome after Tour
To pint out ,he created that gap within 2km
Great to see Puccio up there too
You do realise he also had Henao behind to keep the others in order. So it's easier to create a gap.
Still impressive though But yeah, true that.

Lemoine seriously crashed in this race. He needed an emergency operation and seems to have bruises on kidney and lung as also two broken rips.
But obviously he is fine now.

I will try to find it. One of the Norwegians who knows Nordhaug personally wrote on different forums he had a VO2 of 92 in the training camp in Mallorca. I will try to find that for you, but I don't know there is anything except that. Possibly on Sky's website I may find out something more.
Sorry, but that's impossible. VO2Max is an enormously gigantic part of being a professional cyclist and the highest recorded in a pro cyclist is Greg LeMond's massive 90-92.5 (accounts differ on the exact number). If Nordhaug's was 92 he'd be winning the Tour de France last year.
It's normal though that random people who know athletes make such claims about them. Happens every day.
EDIT: For reference, Induráin's and Hinault's were both 88

It's a preventive excuse. When he's storming the field from nowhere à la Froome, they'll just point out that "there's nothing strange, it's already known that he's got a massive VO2Max".
You heard it here first.

Max value reached maybe, but it fluctuates throughout the season(s) for any sportsman. Not that I'm of any importance, but mine fluctuated between 64 and 69 in 1998, and was down to 60 in 2002 (lack of training).
And before somebody asks a noobish question, no, it's not a percentage.

I heard Contador VO2max was 99,5 in 2009 (Verbier). Is that possible?

Really interesting race in Qatar today with lots of wind.
16 riders in front with eisel, flecha, stannard, blythe, boonen, maes, steegmans, cancellara, farrar, hunter, navardauskas, cooke, kruopis, kluge, veelers, friedemann
Cavendish behind, won`t probably come back.

I'd say Farrar looked stronger, but he was, just like Blythe and Kruopis, taken out by a puncture on the last 5 kilometers. Pretty sure Blythe punctured before, but waited for the 3 kilometers sign to raise his arm to signalize the puncture, as it looked like a puncture on his rear wheel.
Well done Boonen, great stage from him and his team, completely ripping the peloton apart.

It was a good race, Blythe was looking great following Cancellara's acceleration until he punctured. There were a few punctures today, Krupois from GreenEDGE dropped out of the front group also. Farrar wasn't happy at the end, swearing and such.

Yes. It's not above any physical limit, and it's not a percentage either, so yes, that's possible.
Saying that was really case is something else (I have no idea), or saying he could do it without dope is also something else (I have an idea).
Sportsmen with the highest VO2 are generally nordic skiers. Björndalen had the highest VO2, with a figure of 96.
That's why I find Contador's 99,5 hard to believe.

Great race ! Saw the last 10 km. Cancellara with great attack and Boonen in fantastic shape.
I was in Mallorca the last week and we had crazy weather. We were in the same hotel as radioshack and omega pharma. Was impressive to see them eye to eye. We could eat with them and met them on the road when we were in the training.

Actually, it's Daehlie (most succesful wintersport athlete, counting olympic gold and medals) who has been registered 96 in VO2. He tested 96 in offseason, and the doctor/trainer who was there when Daehlie tested, said Daehlie in top form could have a VO2 above 100.

Actually Bjorn and Ole Einar has both equally 11 olympic medals, but that is not so important Both were/are rather machines than humans, these numbers are brutal.
To be not so off-topic, great victory from Boonen, i like OPQS more and more.
Edit: I was wrong, checked Wiki now and Bjorn has 12 medals

King Boonen is back. Hope he can compete with the best in the cobbles later in April.

Still hard to believe... where is the 2nd highest V02max of a cyclist?
On-topic: yeah OPQS is really making something from the early season, i hope they don't get stuck in April
