Okay, but for Europe I would consider a limit on riders per country per team. So you can't just take 9 Spaniards or Dutch riders, though as you're the Belkin manager, you will be against this no doubt .
I'd suggest maximum 5-6 riders from any one country, which will make the race more diverse and stop it from becoming a National Championship for teams like Movistar and Belkin.
I'd agree in theory... but it's variable by region.
The American races will have maybe 10 nationalities (USA, CAN, COL, CRC, ARG, BRA, MEX, URG, ECU, CUB, VEN) and up to 90 riders. Colombians are sort of spread across the teams as are Americans and Canadians etc. Some teams could send a full 9 man team, but it's only few and mostly it would be made of some rubbish riders.
The Other races (not Europe, i'll get to them) will suffer from a limit problem. Whilst there are Aussies away from Orica they are few and far between. There are Africans outside MTN but again they are very limited in number. Asians are a lot more spread, but the teams will never really be more than 3-4 riders anyway.
Europe is just a mess. Is there a limit to nations competing? I mean how it is it decided which nations do get to send a team and which don't. There are more nations than available spots. And if every team that could send 9 riders is allowed, well the startlist will be well over the 200 limit before the smaller nations can even think. Here imposing a limit works, but it would not in America or Other.
Also how are the teams selected? Do managers get to nominate like in the MG, then some selectors make the final call? Will teams be limited in the number of riders they can nominate? Will there be more than one selector per nation? etc. etc. A full explanation of the entire process would be nice.
Also why the 2012 route and not the 2013 route? Why the same for all continents, would some variety not be nice? Europe could use the standard Worlds route, the US could use the Philly Classic or Quebec or Montreal, while Other could use an Aussie NC route.

@tmm i think it was said earlier that every team can send 9 riders which ride in their normal teams and not in national teams

It's done by team, not country.

I thought that was quite obvious from my post. Certain teams have a load of riders from one country, so I meant to stop them from sending all their nine riders from the same country. This is a European Championship, not a National Championship.

Wrong. And you're only saying that because you have Movistar . We could bitch like this all day or just let Ollfardh decide. I think it was a good idea but if you're just going to turn it into some sort of biased argument, then what's the point.

Well put it this way, i'm FDJ... i ONLY have French riders! A limit would unfairly disadvantage me... (well i do have Boucher from Belgium but that's only 1 rider out of 27)

Hmmm, okay. Well, in that case, maybe not . Still, it was a good idea in principle but I guess you can't implement it fairly across the board.
And to add to knockout's argument, I don't see how me having loads of different nationalities in my team would help me in a one-off race. You would still send Valverde and I would still send Gilbert. The domestiques are just domestiques and are largely irrelevant at the final result. It was just about making the race diverse.

Carry on bickering, it distracts you from certain races still not being run
I give teams the option to choose as they want, for certain teams it's not even an option to get several nationalities in. Others might want to send a national team for other reasons. So everyone is free to choose.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Nothing could distract me from the fact that Oman is now a month late. Nothing.

Hang on, I don't really get it.
So there's a Continental championship, in sponsor teams. So I send as many riders as possible max9 to each one, depending on continent. So for me everyone is Italy except me two custom riders, one is also Europe. But hey. And then, there's NCs, which are different?

Yup, I also got only 1 custom American rider on Belkin.
National champsionships are different, obviously. I also haven't decided which (if any) will be actually raced.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

What about including the Himalaya stage from the Db Comics for the Asian Championship? 72 km of climbing-only
At least Po-Ding will like it

I was just kidding .
I mean i don't care whether
Valverde, Herrada, Intxausti, Castroviejo, Ventoso
are supported by
Costa, Moreno, Rojas and Cobo
or
Costa, Visconti, Capecchi and Llanet

Yeah, Herrada definetly is worthy of Costas support.
