Hi my full name is Rui Alberto Faria Da Costa but you can call me Rui. I´m from the city called Póvoa de Varzim it is a beautiful city specially at night. Just look:

upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/50/Povoa_Varzim_skyline_2.jpg/660px-Povoa_Varzim_skyline_2.jpg

I´m riding for spanish team movistar and as I am from Portugal it is the best option for me . If you want to know more about me just google me Pfft.

Today is 21 december 2011 and I decided to start blog about my season/career. I know several other cyclists that are writing blog about their careers. I can only inspirate from guys like Dominik Nerz, Timothy Roe or now even two neopros François and Fréderique. All of them makes some personal goals and stuff like that my goal is to became a really valuable rider for a team. My dream is to win every GT atleast once in my life it will be tough but still its just a dream.

I will report you mainly stages that mean something to me so if I dont became a sprinter I wont report you sprint stages Smile. Later today I will give more informations about my schedule, team, staff in the team and about what the team is expecting from me in this season.

That´s it hope you will follow this blog. Wink

Hi it´s me again. Today is 1st January and we just and our pre-season meeting. We were talking about next season and mostly about our schedules.
I could split my season to two parts one from late February to late April and second from August to end of September.

So month by month it will look like this:

January: -
February: Tour of Oman
March: Paris-Nice,Milano Sanremo,Criterium Internazional
April: Vuelta al Pais Vasco, 3 Ardennes clasisc and Tour de Romandie
May: -
Jun: NC
July: -
August: Vuelta al Burgos, Clasica San Sebastian, Vuelta Espana,
September: WC, Il Lombardia
October: -

In total I will have 65 race days

As you can see I will start my season in Oman where I will try something in only Mountain stage. Then I will go to Paris-Nice where our sponsor want a stage win so that is my main goal there. In Milan Sanremo I will be helper for Valverde as we need Top 3. Than I will lead the team in Criterium Internazional and Vuelta al Pais Vasco. In Ardenes I will be main helper for Valverde. If I still have a good form I will lead the team In Romandie but if not I will go for stage win.

After long break I will start my second half of the season in Vuelta al Burgos then I´ll go to San Sebastian. After all this finnaly comes highlight of my season Vuelta I will probably be a free element there if nothing unexpected happens. Then I´ll represent Portugal in WC and end my season in Lombardia.

I don´t know a lot about schedules of others but I know that Valverde will lead our team in Down Under because Movistar want us to be 1st overall.

Hi Guys today is 23 january but you probably know that. I´m writing you from training camp in Nice it´s really nice here Pfft.

Simon Gerrans is new Australian champion. He came ahead of Rory Sutherland and Cadel Evans.

In Tour Down under Valverde really disapointed he ended 16th on GC.
I´m really looking forward to Oman.

See you soon.
Rui.

Hi, i think Rui Costa has more potential as a classics rider, although he's a good time trialist as well. Maybe winning every one week race in Pro Tour, as well as all the hilly classics, would be more realistic.

But, as a portuguese, i really wish you are right about the GT.

Question: do you think that Rui didn't had the support he needed this year in Tour de France, when Valverde lost too many time, and he was the only Movistar rider on top 12?

In Portugal, a lot of people said that, when Cobo didn't waited to help him, and he felt to 19/20th place.

Good luck Wink

I'm glad you started your story! I will definitely follow as best as possible! Looks like a great schedule, however, his shape might be off at the NC, because he won't have any race fitness Smile best of luck!
