Perfect weather, no winds. Langeveld as the top-favorite for this hilly cobbled classic in Lincoln.



More than ten riders tried to escape early: Last, Jonasson, Capecchi, King, Parno, Partridge, Losch, Murray, Esquivel or Sabatini as the most active. Also Earle, Eefting, Kern, Weiss or Coutts with a few empty-handed attempts.

Eventually, a group of just 3 riders is allowed to go clear though:

The breakaway builds a lead up to six minutes before the peloton (led by Strava and Lierse) starts to chase. The here so often dangerous mid-race attacks happens 80km before finish then:

Lee with a solo-move!

At this point, we notice the first major splits in the pack, where just 58 riders remain in the first field. Most notable names being dropped already:

Bakari and Takenouchi!



Lee would then quickly join the early break, but with the peloton keeping up a brutal pace (and a small group with Einsle/Langeveld/De Maar/Mortensen pulling a small gap as well), this breakaway is soon caught:

Langeveld now going clear from the bigger leading group with 37km remaining!

Einsle, Last and Lee at the front of the group, where also De Maar did show some first strengths here.. no one jumping behind Langeveld on first hand though!



De Maar now goes as well: 28km left and he's quickly dropping the chasing group and faces a 30"-gap on Langeveld..



30" behind, there's a now a group of 9 riders formed:

Joseph
Last
Lindeman
Wynants
Turgot
Aulas
Østergaard
De Backer
Steegmans

Also Selvaggi tried to hang on, but he will find himself back in the first peloton soon..



22km to go and Langeveld holding on to his gap on De Maar..

Turgot now attacking the chasing group, where Ostergaard got dropped in the meantime!



Still a similar constellation of groups with now just 7km to go: Last is the next being dropped from group Joseph/De Backer, that pulled back Turgot though!

Wynants, Turgot and De Backer launching another acceleration..

Langeveld now already a minute ahead of De Maar, who's already two minutes ahead of this group here!





And so it's a dominating victory for Langeveld, who crosses the line in the middle of a dropped group then. Perfect race for him, as no one else couldn't hang on with his pace.



De Maar with a nice 2nd place then, crossing the line a minute later. He should be pleased with that.



The chasing group then contesting for the final podium. Unfortunatelly, the sprint takes place in a big group that had been dropped. You may spot the riders anyway:

Lindeman 3rd ahead De Backer and Wynants! A nice result for Lindeman and a huge 1-4 for Strava.

Aulas, Turgot, Steegmans and Joseph from 6 to 9 then. Unlucky Turgot, who tried to escape. Joseph had not much left to sprint.

Last completes the Top-10 a few seconds later. Quite an effort.

Strava makes this race a huge success, as Einsle/Pfingsten and Selvaggi/Tulik make it four more riders inside the Top-15!
