So after not really being able to take much from the GC perspective, can Jagoba continue his decent form and give us a good result on the final stage?

The Race

In the order of which they crossed the climb, the escapees were:
Gerard
Tereul
Sijmens
De Negri

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0608_zpsc07a94f2.jpg
Again the sprint train was a failure. I was brought in to help with positioning, but Virgilijus and Jagoba were blocked with 4km left to go. I wasn't stopping though.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0609_zps977ef83b.jpg
Again an easy win for Greipel. Rounding off the podium were Sinkeldam and Felline.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0610_zps27ca37a8.jpg
Jagoba took another Top 10 with 7th today.

So, with 11th and 12th in the GC with such a field I guess we can be proud. To beat Esteban is big for me, and Jagoba must be loving his start to the pro circuit - 3 Top 10s in 3 sprint stages. Will it be off to Algarve next? We don't know.

Well PCM decided to delete all my race planning Rolling Eyes. That means that the team isn't registered for Cholet or Norway.

A nice way for Jagoba to finish off his time in Argentina Wink

And i feel sorry for you, PCM can be a real pain some times Angry

Jesleyh
Good sprint for Jagoba there Wink

Shame you lost your calendar, hope you can overcome that...

And yay for Kelderman beating Quintana Banana

Stage 1

The Race

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0614_zps12d1bf7f.jpg
With no break formed yet, the Sky trio of Fenn, Pate and Markus rode away from the bunch. The latter took maximum points.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0615_zpsf13e9713.jpg
When the break did form, it consisted of 4 riders:

Barbero
Carvalho
Sokol
Vallejo Dominguez

With the stage entering the business end, the peloton became frantic.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0616_zps7c7bab28.jpg
The result of this was several (!) bunch crashes, invloving between 2 and 10 riders each time. No huge names were affected, Castroviejo was the best rider down.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0617_zps68cdcfd0.jpg
Some of these crashes also caused a big split. Our main climbing trio of Suarez, Chalapud and I were all behind, frantically trying to get back.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0618_zps963dd319.jpg
With 5km to go, we finally had a good train going. Jarlinson was very handy in getting over the hills in the closing kilometres.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0619_zps1555cb11.jpg
But just as everything was going right, Leo put in a horrible leadout. He barely accelerated, and this left Jagoba in a very bad position.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0620_zps3cf67f5e.jpg
Marcel Kittel took the win ahead of leadout man Ramon Sinkeldam and Andrea Guardini.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0621_zps5cba389e.jpg
Jagoba took an amazing 5th, with Leo finally accelerating to 6th, and Arango 9th with a 3km sprint. God knows what could've been.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0622_zps135ede4f.jpg
With 3 in the Top 10, the team lead was always ours.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0623_zpscdb43f2b.jpg
A good day overall, as Jagoba continues to show us his amazing sprinting capabilities, while me and my fellow 'dropees' finished in the same time as the leaders.

Again the biggest chance is for Jagoba. Hopefully the leadout will be better.

The Race

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0625_zps539f309c.jpg
The escapees of the day were:
Zuazubiskar
Madrazo
Marycz
Lammertink

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0626_zps3ad411db.jpg
Again a big pileup! No big names aare down, but hopes of competing are well and truly over for some.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0627_zpsf896e1c4.jpg
Our train was going well, until Leonardo and Jagoba were blocked. Juan Sebastian was doing an extraordinary job though.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0628_zps7a508bfc.jpg
Kittel took the win again, ahead of Kristoff and Guardini.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0629_zps0b10c99f.jpg
Jagoba was blocked for the whole sprint. So, he could only get 14th. Leo was 15th, and Juan was 16th.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0630_zpsabb81b32.jpg
Again an uneventful day for me in the saddle, but the sprint train will have plenty to complain about over dinner.

Today is the one GC stage, so we need Robinson to be firing on all cylinders.

The Race

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0632_zps0a83734b.jpg
The break was 5 strong. Howevr, the peloton would make sure that they didn't survive until the end. Still, they were pretty strong:

Navarro
Bak
Herrada
Teruel
Piedra

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0633_zpsadcaf032.jpg
Skip to the interesting bit. Robinson and I made the attack train, but I was, as usual, too strong on the downhill. Sean was quick to tell me over the team radio to keep going. Thank god the old DS wasn't here.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0634_zps9fc49b14.jpg
I was away solo, ahead of Robinson, and then the favourites group:

Froome
Contador
Van Garderen
Moreno
Quintana

I was keeping a constant 30" lead on them.

It was a 16" gap down to Rob, then a further 15" on the favourites, with 7km to go on the Cat. 1.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0635_zps8e4d6e6f.jpg
It was truly grueling. It felt like I just wanted to explode. I felt like I had never felt before, but then I realised. I am leading - with a constant gap - over the best climbers in the world.

At 2.8km to the summit, the energy was gone, but this thought kept me going. The gap was still 30". Could I do the impossible?

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0636_zpsaa573842.jpg
No... I was caught with 1km to the summit, but I stayed in the group, while others tried fruitlessly to attack away.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0637_zps30c43098.jpg
I just went first over the climb. Meanwhile, David Arroyo managed to crash on an 8% gradient... Rolling Eyes

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0638_zps22358bec.jpg
I tried to leave the group on the last hill, but to no avail. I thus took the wheel of the best sprinter of us, Moreno. Luis Leon Sanchez has joined up with us, but was surprisingly not offering a leadout to his teammate.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0639_zpsff8e719c.jpg

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0640_zpse9d080a1.jpg
I couldn't go around, my 'leadout man', while also misjudging the downhill trajectory - finishing with energy to spare. Quintana was the strongest, ahead of Contador, the Katusha duo, me, and then Froome.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0642_zpsbd3cd8dd.jpg

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/Abbiati123/Album%20For%20Albums/Fabio%20Melani/PCM0643_zps99972428.jpg

A good performance I think personally. The KoM jersey and 2nd place behind the race winner out of the young riders. We still have tomorrow, though that is for Jagoba.
