Benjamin Dyball – Australia – 20th April 1989

Former Australian road race champion in 2011. Strong results this year including winning the Mount Fuji stage in the Tour of Japan and placing second overall in the New Zealand Cycling Classic. Clearly a decent Climber. Okay against the clock seems to prefer the longer tests too prologues. The Mount Fuji result was a bit of an overachievement but his other results do imply he is possibly a 68 or 69 Mountain climber possibly a bit less on the hills.

Jacob Kauffmann – Australia – 24th March 1987

5th in the Australian TT championships this year and 6th in the less prestigious Oceania ITT. A decent rouler by the looks from his Tour of Sinkarak results, but looks like more of a pure chrono man.

Campbell Flakemore – Australia – 6th August 1992

Young Aussie chrono specialist, fitting their endless conveyer belt of men in that regard. 3rd in the U23 Australian TT at the beginning of the year to Howson, but edged Howson at the Olympia’s Tour in May on his way to 9th overall, implying he is slightly better than Howson on the hilly stuff. Also edged Howson again at the Thuringen Rundfaht, in both races was pretty ordinary in the shorter prologue well behind Howson implying he prefers the longer tests.

Jordan Kerby – Australia -15th August 1992

Current U23 Australian Road Race champion, who rode this years Santos Tour Down Under for the UniSA team, his best finish was 44th on the hilly finish into stirling. Featured in some breakaways there and has been getting some top 5 results mainly from breakaways in the small stage races in Morocco and Korea. Prior to this year Jordan is a bit of a Prologue specialist though finishes lower. down on some of the longer tests. Seems unable to deal with hilly stages too well at this stage.

Lachlan Norris – Australia – 21st January 1987

Former mountain biker punchy type who currently rides for Raleigh as one of their hilly leaders. Good enough to finish with the bigger guns in the Tour of Haut Var and recently won a mountains competition in the circuit des Ardennes. Former stagiere for HTC- Highroad in 2011, but had a blank year in the one following. Before joining HTC had some good results in the Tour of Taiwan and Tour of Wellignton. Seems to have some mountain ability also possibly MO 64 to 66ish and hills perhaps as high as 70. Not to bad against the clock like must Aussies.

Alex Frame – New Zealand – 18th June 1993

Kiwi all rounder who seems to climb okay when feeling good, but seems to be more of a hardman sprinter type. Finished behind Caleb Ewan in the top 10 on a couple of occasions in the Thuringen-Rundfaht. 5th in the New Zealand TT championships implies some okay TT skills.

Roman Van Uden – New Zealand – 29th October 1988

Kiwi sprinter who has several top tens in Asia Tour races. Currently racing in the UK for Node 4 Giordana, with some good sprint results over here. As always does okay in TTs, notably finishing in the top 20 of the opening ITT in the Tour of Langkawi 2012. Possibly sprint as high as 71 – with the potential to slightly improve with some experience. Climbs okay over the small hills, but no results to speak of over the mountains. Has plenty of stage racing experience.

Giro dispatch –

Diego Rosa – Italy – 27th March 1989

Young Italian climber who finished a highly credible 23rd in this years Giro (5th in the Youth standings), followed this up by and impressive 5th at the Route du Sud finishing just behind the lead group. Has had good results in hilly classics but seems better as a mountain climbing stage racer. Finished 66th in the long ITT at the Giro – around the same time as Betencur.

Jorge Azanza Soto – Spain – 16th June 1982

Long time Euskaltel climbing domestique seem mainly hauling Sammy Sanchez up the climbs at the Giro. Pretty ordinary against the clock, has had a few decent results on the hillier stages. Somewhere around 73 Hill and 71 MO or possibly a notch or two higher – your classic minimum wage climbing domestique, with the capability to climb with 30 to 40 lead groups. Not known to have any real sprint speed.

Edwin Alcibiades Avila Vanegas – Colombia – 21st December 1989

Team Colombia sprinter who battled through this years Giro D’Italia finishing 11th behind Cavendish on the flat stage 6. Has achieved top 10 in sprint stages across Europe this year (Burgos, Luxembourg, Turkey and Algarve. Had been improving in the Americas Tours prior to this season certainly has the potential to improve to a 78/79 level sprinter, shown little climbing or chrono ability, though can at least claim to have finished the majority of stage races he starts (i.e. Not Bos levels of hill hating!)

Manuele Boaro – Italy – 12th March 1987

Very good Italian TT specialist 8th in this years long TT at the Giro 2013, 4th in the opening prologue in 2012 and second in the short TT at the Crit International. Seen by some as having the potential to win small stage races as long a climbs are not too severe. Won the mountains classification at this years Volta ao Algarve. Has possibly the potential to get up to around 79/80 in the TT, could argue is already around this number with 7th at last years Chrono des Nations. Would say can survive hills okay but mountains are a bit iffy. Something like 72/73 HI and 68/69 MO and medium sprinting in the low 60’s.

Alan Marangoni – Italy – 6th July 1984

Italian journeyman chrono specialist – relied on by Liquigas often as a reliable Team time trial rider. Has regurlarly finished in the top ten in his national Time trial championships, including 3rd in 2011. Has ridden and finished all three grand Tours and usually features in the top 50 of the chrono stages whilst being a regular in the autobus. A classic TT rouler type who can do okay in hilly classics domestiquely and has experience of the cobblestones, possibly high 60’s HI, low 60’s COBB, high 50’s MO and high 70’s TT. Seemingly uninterested in Sprinting or Prologues so low stats there.

Jose Herrada Lopez – Spain – 1st October 1985

Currently fully XP MO 58, HI 66 and I think following a strong Giro and narrowly failed to deny Voeckler a win in the Dauphine stage into Grenoble surely needs a climbing boost to something around 76 MO and 73 HI or something in the region of that. Possibly with higher STA, Rec, RES as well. A really decent climbing domestique for Movistar who could be a very helpful rider for Valverde in the upcoming Vuelta.

Lvl 1 0 rider not picked up last year with a potential of 4. Fairly average stats in the database across the board. Looks to have the potential to be a strong climber so based on Dauphine KoM jersey this year and some reasonable climbing performances at the Giro.

Brian Bulgac – Belgium – 7th April 1988

25 year old Dutch climber who has ridden the last two Giro’s with improving results in the final week. Very much a rider with potential at this stage and in riding for Lotto seems off the radar of the dreaded Dutch fanboys. Had some good results back when he was a U23 rider in those races on the harder climbing stages.

Marco Canola – Italy – 26th December 1988

Young Italian sprinter who can get over small hills. Was 22nd up Green Mountain this year finishing 4th on the Youth Classification and in general seems to have okay stage racing attributes in the 60’s in the main as is no disgrace against the clock. Certainly has a kick to his finish finishing in the top 15 four times at the Giro including the stage that Degenkolb won and third in the opening large group sprint in last years Tour of Austria and winning a stage at 2012’s Tour of Langkawi from a large breakaway. Possibly one for the medium developed riders.

Whilst the ‘real-lfe’ Oleg Tinkov may disagree with me (not the MG manager) the MG Hernandez stats have led to Bertie’s mate being overlooked by MG teams. Currently surely amongst the better climbing domestiques around (no doubt if he had to work for himself would struggle to replicate results but even so). Recommending a rework of stats for a late MG career, possibly of course in one of the Spanish outfits around. Currently MO 62, HI 61, TT 59. I’d argue for MO 76, HI 71, TT 66 (allowing for him being 33 next year, the normal MG wind down period).

Alexis Vuillermoz – France – 1st June 1988

One of Sojasun’s better climbers in this years Tour who gave a battling performance on the penultimate stage to finish 20th. Has done pretty will in his first full year as a professional could improve in the future, to become a really decent climber. Doesn’t appear to be too bad against the clock and has an okay finish to him also.

Kevin Reza – Franca – 18th May 1988

Is in the database already under the ID 6268.

Free agent who showed some excellent sprint speed at this years Tour with a couple of top tens, most notably down the Champ D’Elysees. It should be noted also that Reza finish 5th on the opening flat sprint stage of the Tour de Romandie this year as well. Seems also okay at mediam level hills so a slight hill boost is perhaps in order. Climbs the high mountains in the gruppetto – but impressively held his energy levels okay. MO 53 -> 56, HI 59 - > 65 and SP 57 - > 74 ACC 62 - > 70, STA 64 - > 69?

Yohann Gene – France – 25th June 1981

Is not in the database I don’t think. Europcar hardman rouler with a decent finishing speed also. Numerous stage wins in La Tropicale and this year grabbed a stage in the Route de Sud in a field sprint, can defenately mix it with the sprinters. Won a stage at the Tour de Langkawi back in 2009 again out of a field sprint. A weak climber but very good on the flat as seen often at the head of the pack in 2011 when Voeckler had his stint in yellow. I’d say FLA 75, COB 67, SPR 76/77 ACC 74/75, will be 33 next year.

Egoitz Garcia Etxegibal – Spain - 31st March 1986

Second rank Spanish (basque) sprinter (actually racking my brains there is not to many top rank Spanish sprinters around at the moment!). Did well in Majorca in the early season and at the Tour de Haut Var. Numerous top tens and some good stand out results including 5th into Lyon in this years Tour. Won Last years Paris Correze. Possibly could be an Impey like late bloomer – currently I’d say around 77 SPR with HILL’s around 66 to 67, possibly higher has finished a number of Basque Country stages in the top 10. Raced on the cobbles this year and last year also and did okay for a Spanish rider.

Hirt is already a free agent, but i think he needs a second look (he has 4 potential now), actually he is maybe one of the best climbing prospects around. He is sriding for Leopard CT for second year and he has some nice results this year, like winning mountain stage at Tour de Azerbaijan by more than 4 minutes. He also came 4th overall at Tour Alsace (2.2), where he was one of the few to challenge Herklotz in mountain stage. He was also 2nd in GC at Course de la Paix U23 and is doing well now in Portugal (14th in mountain stage).

Together with Vakoc biggest czech shot for the future,but more of a pure climber. I would not fear giving him the 6 potential, with possible reach to some 78 at climbing. Also his accelation needs boost, bad TT is fine, but he is doing well in TTTs, so no abyssmal.

As majority of cross riders, he should be explosive on short climbs, with good descend and finishing kick. I think he can become a solid climber or puncher, maybe around 74, with 5 potential.

O course also Kreuziger, Barta and Stybar could use some polishing,as they are completely off, but Milka is "blocking" them all.

One of the biggest talents in Slovakia, cycling is obviously came to spotlight thanks to Terminator and new faces arise. He is current national U23 TT champion,also came 6th at seniors road race at age of 19 few days after (beating Velits and few other known riders). He has some other results too this year, like 20th at Trofej Porec or 5th at Carpathian Couriers Race U-23 (2.2U).
I think he can become a very good stage racer, but preferably a great puncher (not explosive) with strong TT. He would be someone to build on (obviously and honestly i am thinking on my team,as i miss some slovakian talents who would fit in, i had to abandon slovakian sponsor because of that ). I would suggest 5-6 potential with possibility of maxed around 76hill/TT.

I know also about some 1995 born talents from Slovakia, but i will save that for next year.

Yeah, seriously they would need to, but if I release them I will never see them again, they are too good and they wages will go sky high. Anyway thank you for your effort to get more Czech-o-Slovakians to the game.

This guy beat some really good british riders in the Tobago Classic and has been quite impressive in the Pan America games considering he's being given no funding he is a bit special being the only rider form his country and I think he should be given stats to show that

67 mountain 74-77 hill 70-71 sprint exp 2/3/4.0 gives him the chance of being taken by a protour team also could give Banco Costa Rica and other teams sponsored by Central American teams a chance to get a leader from their area.

I think Jacques Janse van Rensburg is severly under-rated. I recommend changing Burry Stander to Jacques van Rensburg, i.e. just deleting JvR's old ID (6312) and just replacing Stander's name with JvR. In other words, JvR now adopts Stander's stats and Stander is removed from the db.

A very promising young rider. This year he won the KoM at the Mzansi Tour after being in a lot of breakaways. David was also the only rider who was able to follow Hunter's wheel after a massive attack on Stage 2 of the Mzansi Tour. He's always very active in local races in terms of attacking. Not a pure climber, but descent on hills, strong on flats and does have a sprint finish.

He's also a strong workhorse for team leaders, but proved he's a very strong rider when riding away from the bunch at SA NC. However, long TT are probably his strong point. Jay was used as a lead out for Jake Keough at UHC.

Very similar to Jay, but not as strong in Time Trials. Martin loves attacking with ~30km to go and tries to ride solo to the line or just attacks straight from the gun. He's also very good at pulling the bunch the whole day long. Very strong domestique.

Seems to be very promising. More of a hilly specialist with a sprint finish than anything else. He won the recent EKZ Zuri Metzege in Switzerland where he outwitted some IAM, BMC and EKZ riders. I know very little about cycling talents, but bring on the frenchies and greek riders! Surely there must be a greek talent that I haven't already snatched

Having gone through the World Tour results of this season, including watching a fair bit of the races myself I would make a few suggestions towards riders currently at Free Agent, but performing "well".

I'm sorry if I'm mentioning a lot of riders already mentioned, but I thought I would give it a go, so pick what you agree on, and leave everything else.

Riders already in the DB, but needs tweaking:

Daniele Pietropolli - 1980 Ingame
- Showed that he was a decent finisher at the Tour Down Under with a couple of top 10s, while he showed strength in both finish and upgoing in Tirreno-Adriatico, Amstel Gold Race and a single stage of the Giro d'Italia. 33th of the Amstel Gold Race indicates more than 63 HI and 65+65 END and RES.

Recomended: 70MO -> 72MO. 63HI -> 71HI. 65END -> 70END. 66RES -> 68RES. 59SPR -> 68SPR

Jonathan Cantwell - 1982 Ingame
- Sprinted decently in the Tour Down Under. Also showed last year that he was a pretty good sprinter for Saxo Bank. Not a top sprinter, but a fairly strong rider, that would essentially be a decent leadout.

Recommended: 65FL -> 70FL. 64END -> 68END. 70SPR -> 74SPR. 68ACC - 74ACC.

Juan Jose Lobato del Valle - 1988 Ingame
- Is a decent talent ingame, but he showed that he is a much better sprinter, especially at this years TdF. Atm he will max around 77SPR, 76ACC and 71FL, while I think he could actually be better. 3 times in the top 10 this TdF and also a top 5 Tour of Romandie and a low top 10 Tour Down Under proves that he is there at times. Also he seems decent at going over bumps.

Recommended: 54MO -> 58MO. 64HI -> 67HI. 77SPR -> 79SPR. 76ACC -> 78ACC.

Klaas Lodewijk - 1988 Ingame
- At the start of the season Lodewijk sprinted into top 10 of the TdU twice. He can be 74 SPR, and 73 ACC.

Recommmended: 74SPR -> 76SPR. 73ACC -> 76ACC.

Jésus Herrada - 1990 Ingame
- Have been a decent TT rider this season, first with 12th of the Paris-Nice Prologue and then 30th at the Tour of Switzerland final TT. He is a decent talent ingame, but his TT and prologue is lacking.

Using maxed stats
Recommended: 71TT -> 75TT. 71PRL -> 78PRL.

Cyril Lemoine - 1983 Ingame
- Lemoine did decent in timetrials throughout the season, and with 13th at the Tour de Suisse and Tour de France he showed he is a fairly competitive TTer. He also sprinted well, especially at the Tour de France with 9th, 11th and 14th, but similarly at the Tour of Suisse with 12th and 13th.

Recommended: 73TT -> 75TT. 72SPR -> 76SPR. 71ACC -> 75ACC. Possibly also 70ish flat.

Jens Debusschere - 1989 Ingame.
- Some decent sprintresults in Paris-Nice and Tour de Suisse must give him a better setup than currently. He can be 69SPR and 70ACC, but with 3 WT top 10s already he should improve a bit.

Recommended: 69SPR -> 75SPR. 70ACC -> 76ACC.

Alberto Losada - 1982 Ingame
- Ingame Alberto Losada is a shit rider who is best on the flats. However he climbed very well at the Paris-Nice this year ending in 11th GC.

Recommended: 57MO -> 75MO. 68HI -> 73 HI. 64TT -> 70TT. Possibly slightly better at the End, Res, and Rec.

Luca Paolini - OLDIE
- Don't know if you want to correct decent riders from the past back into decent riders, but Paolini has been riding very well this season, in all kinds of terrains. He should be top 30 cobblers in the world and he is a very nice puncheur aswell - Also around the 30 best in the world.

Yoann Bagot - 1987 Ingame
- Pretty nice talent in the db already, and mostly he's spot on, but with 61 ingame he'll do absolutely nothing. IRL he did quite a lot of nice results, basically finishing around 15-35 in all mountain and semihard stages.

Recommended: 61FL -> 67FL. 65HI -> 71HI. 62END -> 70END.

José Herrada - 1985 Ingame
- Just like Jésus he is basically only decent at the flat, but he is climbing really really well actually. 33th GC Pais Vasco, consistently in top 20 on mountainstages, 24th GC Giro d'Italia with a lot of top 25 placings, even a 9th place on one stage. Also climbing well at the Dauphine with a 2nd place and a 25th or so. Especially 24th Giro overall must surely mean something.

Recommended: 58MO -> 76MO. 66HI -> 71HI. 69END -> 71END. 65REC -> 72REC. 61DH -> 69DH.

Steve Chainel - 1983 Ingame
- Not a lot of WT results, but 17th overall at Paris-Roubaix indicates that he's not too shabby. Atleast on cobbles.

Recommended: 68FL -> 71FL. 65HI -> 68HI. 66END -> 74END. 69COB -> 73COB. 64FIG -> 68FIG.

Mads Christensen - 1984 Ingame
- A pretty useless "talent" ingame, but in real he is a pretty consistent TT'er and also a pretty good rider to make the BotD. He got a few top 25 TTs this season, best was 8th at Tour de Suisse TT.

Recommended: 66FL -> 72FL. 62HI -> 67HI. 68TT ->75TT. 63RES -> 71RES. 58SPR -> 64SPR. 64ACC -> 68ACC. 66FIG -> 72FIG.

Maxime Mederel - 1980 Ingame
- Did decent at the Tour de France and Tour de Suisse, atleast in the mountains. No top results, but very consistent in the region of 30-45.

Recommended: 65MO -> 73MO. 61HI -> 70HI. 60RES -> 66RES. 62REC -> 69REC. 63DH -> 72DH.

And now for riders I don't think exist in the DB, but probably should:

Davide Malacarne - 1987 IRL
- Consistent climbing throughout the year, also with some decent punchy stuff. He got home with the favorites of stage 3 in the Paris-Nice. A couple of top 35 stages at the TdF (Hard mountainstages). 26th Milano-San Remo. 49th GC Tour de France. In 2010 he won a fairly tough stage at the Volta a Catalunya and in 2011 he won the Mountains Jersey at Tirreno-Adriatico.

Recommended:
- Somewhere in the region of 73-75MO, 72-74HI, ~70FIG, ~70REC and END. 71-75DH. 71-74ACC. Or the possibility for him to get to that level in a year or so.

Bart de Clercq - 1986 IRL
- Very nice mountain rider. Not much else I suspect though. Won a stage at the 2011 Giro d'Italia and did quite some nice results in lower races GC wise this season. 5th Andalucia, 7th Tramuntana, 9th San Luis. Also climbing fairly well throughout the season with some highlights in Paris-Nice, Pais Vasco, Dauphine and of course Tour de France, where he lid up in the final stages of the race.

Recommended:
- 75-77MO, 72-74HI. Don't know much else. He could potentially be lvl. 4.00 with potential to 77MO.

Egoitz Garcia Echeguibel - 1986 IRL
- 15-20 like sprinter at this years TdF, also a single pop-up at Pais Vasco (7th) at a semitough sprint. According to Wikipedia he seems to be getting significantly better also performing at subtop races like Haut Var and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.

Recommended: Dunno. Probably some decent allrounder with a reasonable kick.

Alessandro de Marchi - 1986 IRL
- Climbing very well, and should definately be in this game. 25th Liege-Bastogne-Liege, 25th GC Tour of Romandie, Stagewin at Dauphine (Mountain)+30th GC, Two top 20 Mountaintop finishes at Tour de France

Recommended:
- Should already be a good rider, but in the future perhaps something like 76-77MO, 75-76HI or so. Don't know his potential, but he seems very promising.

Manuele Boaro - 1987 IRL
- Nice Timetriallist, who can also survive the first bounce of hills/mountains. 8th at the Giro TT this season, and 17th at the prologue of Romandie. Last year he finished 3rd at Danmark Rundt, and in 2011 he finished 2nd in the Italian TT Nationals. He won the mountains classification of Ao Algarve this season.

Recommended:
- Something like 69-70 MO and hills. 76-77TT and 74-75PRL.

Diego Rosa - 1989 IRL
- Nice little italian climbing talent. 23th at this years Giro d'Italia GC is a nice result and stagefinishes in the range of 14th to 28th on the mountains bodes well for his future, and also indicates he is a stabile rider. Rute du Sud for 5th overall is a nice little bonus.

Recommended:
- Don't know his actual talent, but a rider from 1989 who is 23th at his first Giro must be better... So I estimate that he should be 76MO this season with potential to become 78-79MO.

These riders I know very little about, but their names popped up with a decent WT result:

Maurits Lammertink - 7th at a stage in Volta a Catalunya, mass sprint.
Gaeten Bille - Sprinted subtop at Tour of Romandie.
Jorge Azanza - 33th overall Giro d'Italia. Decent climbing underway.
Marco Canola - 3 top 15 sprints at the Giro.
Luis Angel Mate Mardones - Climbed well at the TdF, and seems reasonably fast at the line.
Gorka Verdugo - 5th at prologue Tour de Suisse
