After the TTT, we go into the hills - how decisive can this stage really be though?


Early attacks as always, with 4 clear at the first sprint - Santambrogio taking it from Koren and Tennant


An initial break of 18 forms with these 3, but is chased, but over the first two KoMs a break of 13 emerged. Santambrogio beat Meier and Nuyens at the first KoM, and the same order came for the 2nd - although Tschopp slotted into 2nd, infront of Meier.
Here is the break then, Tschopp, Nuyens, Matamoros, Morizot, Faiers, Santambrogio, Schar, Tjalingii, Sieberg, Hulsmans, Mortensen, Meier and Solis


At the next KoM, Meier wins from Tschopp and Santambrogio. Tschopp maybe wearing the jersey, but as it stands, he is in just 26 points - with Santamborgio on 28 and Meier the provisional leader now on 32


Tschopp fights back at the next climb to move to 41. Second for Meier keeps him ahead on 45, with Santambrogio now on 39


Now, you would usually consider Time Triallers to be good bike handlers. Not in the descent of this climb though, Zabriskie is down, Rogers is down!


Time for a joint La Gazzetta and Wikipedia TTT then - along with fellow crashes Jackson Rodriguez and Egoi Martinez


Their chase will be hampered by the bodies of dropped riders, with the pace picking up on this, the toughest climb of the day. Boom on the front here, working with Grivko


The break is splitting up aswell, Meier crucially being dropped in the KoM battle. Rogers meanwhile is making good progress back to the peloton - but Zabriskie is struggling, and further back


Good news for La Gazzetta as Rogers will join back in - and Santambrogio takes the climb. Tschopp is 2nd, and the two now share the lead on 54 points.


The break is down to 7 - Schar, Tschopp, Faiers, Nuyens, Santambrogio, Matamoros, and Morizot. And with 24km to go, attacks from the peloton. Its Florentino Marquez, and then, amazingly, Rogers!


Caruso, Sella, Popovych, Uran, Dekker, Van den Broeck, Fothen, Pozzovivvo, Karpets - all follow


Nothing yet from B&O and as the attackers come together and close down the breakaway, they hold a good minutes gap. Time to go? Pedraza, Gomez Marchante, Efimkin, Nibali and Kvasina


In the last bit of uphill, Sinkewitz and Castano make their moves. And finally Popovych, but too late ...


A group of 21 forms up front - although Kvasina is only clinging on - and in another slight rise, Pluchkin tries again. But again waiting to the top, so the descent comes quickly.


Pluchkin looks set to lose time - and with Hagen doing nothing either, the jersey could go to Uran. Up front, Kvasina has been dropped from the group, as Popovych leads out


Uran moves past, but the Fothen led train of Dekker, Caruso and Gomez Marchante is looking good


And Dekker strikes, taking the stage, from Fothen and Caruso


Sella got stuck behind Nuyens and might lose time here


But no, Sella gets lucky. As does Morizot behind him, and Kvasina aswell - all the same time. Not on the same time though, is the peloton, led in by Facci, Van Stayen, Hagen and Roelandts - losing 1'39


This means that Rigoberto Uran inherits the race lead - with his lucky teammate Kvasina moving into 2nd overall - but plenty of others still close. Not close now though, is Zabriskie. He must surely have suffered from the crash, as while Rogers ended in the front group, the American lost nearly 9 minutes
