Let's hope Contador keeps up the good work and wins the tour.

DFL Team

Alberto Contador
The undisputed team leader. He will almost certainly complete our two sponsor goals of Top 5 in the GC and a Stage win, but lets be realistic, anything other than an overall victory will be disappointing.

Igor Anton
Not in a particular awe-inspiring form, Anton is looking to gain experience points that will aide him for his season goal of the Vuelta. A Top 20 results is still possible though, and he will be Contador's main assistant.

David Millar
Here for the time trials but the freshly crowned British champion will be a valuable asset for Contador due to his all round strength. He hopes to do well in the longer TT of the Tour, as prologues do not always suit him.

Chris Hoy
Prologues may not suit Millar, but Chris Hoy has prepared his season around the Tour de France prologue and he is very keen to produce a winning performance and ride in the maillot jaune.

Daniel Lloyd
Last year in July he performed heroics in China, and he will hopefully perform just as well this year round in France. He is unsure yet as to whether he will target the King of the Mountains jersey like he did in the Dauphine.

Ivan Stevic
He did well in the Tour de Suisse and will be the team's sprinter. He will only aim for top 10 positions although with the many opportunities, a top 3 finish cannot be rule out.

Evan Oliphant
A domestique on the flat, Evan is here to gain experience points and will relish the opportunity to ride in Le Tour.

Aleksandr Pliuschin
The Moldovan intends to make a brief cameo role as he completes his Level 4 experience bar before quitting the race to prepare for other targets which he hold this season, namely the Deutschland Tour.

To Be Confirmed
I really have no idea who I should bring as my 9th rider. It is probably between Fran Perez, Bernald Sulzberger, Ian Stannard, Laszlo Bodrogi and Rafaa Chtioui

Bring Perez, having two guys who can help you in the steep mountains really helps

I think i'd have to agree with Deadpool for that one, an extra helper for the mountains is always useful. Especially when wearing the maillot jaune. But then again, having another Brit is always good Grin Go stannard!

Stage 1

The prologue is make or break for Chris Hoy. He is in excellent form but cursed by a -3 form of the day.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance1.png
He takes a provisional lead before Fothen and then Brajkovic beat it.

When Contador hits the start ramp, much later on. Thomas Dekker is the leader.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance2.png

But Andy Schleck has a faster time at the checkpoint
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance3.png

Contador would equal Schleck's time at the split
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance4.png

But Dekker's finish was obviously very fast. Neither Schleck nor Contador could keep ahead of Dekker, who takes the first maillot jaune.

A good start, but Dekker + Schleck look like tough opponents

Did contador also win last year. Of course with another team though.

Some great competition, but good job taking Perez

SportingNonsense
@Crommy: The fact that so little was lost in a TT bodes well for me. It may have been short but to be so close when Contador has 74 TT, Schleck has 76, Kloden + Brajkovic 78, and Dekker 80. I do expect Andy Schleck to be the biggest rival though.

@matt493: Contador was 2nd for Discovery behind Valverde.

@deadpool: Perez isnt in ideal form but he should grow into it for the 3rd week of the tour which is the toughest week

He may not be in ideal form, but he should be feeling better when you hit the mountains (as long as his race form is low)

Well his training % is at 100 now and he already has a lot of fatigue. Im going to completely fill his fatigue bar I suspect.

Pliuschin's stat increase:

Stage 2

The break included Austrian champion Bernhard Eisel but was caught a long way out.

With 15km to go, Boonen somehow had a 50 second lead.
https://upload.wik...go.svg.png

But Boonen was caught on the 2 and a half kilometre climb that peaked at 6.5km to go. Pliuschin tried an attack but could not get away, subsequently abandoning since he has got the stat increase which he came to the tour for.

There are a lot of high class sprinters here in France. Who would win the first sprint stage?

You could win the vuelta with Pluischin next year

or this year if he's not too fatigued

SportingNonsense
Pliuschin's final target for the season is the Deutschland tour. He will probably warmup for it in Denmark, but thats about it.

Stage 3

Stevic chose to follow Cavendish and Greipel.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance9.png

But Cavendish struggled and fell away from Greipel. Farrar is well placed with Rojas on his wheel while Hushovd is also up there
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance10.png

Boonen came from a long way back but Farrar wins the stage. Stevic takes 5th.

Stage 4

The Col de Peyresourde, the Col d'Aspin and the Col du Tourmalet are the 3 big climbs on the opening mountain stage.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance12.png

Lloyd tried to get away but the peleton werent willing to let him and 8 others get away.

On the Peyresourde, Di Gregorio and Sanchez did get away.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance13.png

While on the Aspin, 16 riders pulled away from the peleton. All the big favourites, including Contador - except for Rasmussen.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance14.png

Kreuziger got dropped from the 16 as Contador sat at the back. No point wasting any energy.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance15.png

Vladimir Efimkin led the attacks at the foot of the Tourmalet.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance16.png

Contador made full use of his full blue bar and comfortably rode past all other attackers, and catching Di Gregorio
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance17.png

He breezed past the frenchman, and soon passed Sanchez too. Dekker also got a gap on the group of contenders.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance18.png

Dekker kept within a minute of Contador going up the climb, not willing to give in his jersey this early in the tour and both of them are pulling away from everyone else.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance19.png

All thats left is descending to the finish, where Contador secures the win.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance20.png

Dekker came in 36 seconds back. Not enough to keep the jersey but still in touch with Contador overall.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/DFL%20Story/tourdefrance21.png

That cant be said for the others. Michael Rogers took 3rd over 3 minutes after Contador - could they have lost their tour victory hopes already? They didnt seem to try hard about limiting Contador or Dekker's gains.
