Yes, a very good season, tough luck in Lombardia, and the first stage of that last race reminds me of the race I personally did yesterday

How do I find myself dying to hear more?
For the story: Fantastic story Keep up the repoting and go epic B)

the loop on the race I did is a false flat, then a sharp descent, then a steep climb, it looks just like the first stage of that final race (of course it is a lot less dramatic)

Thanks for the encouragement all - and now time for the rankings. Starting with the ProTour.
Valverde takes the Individual title - he won Tirreno-Adriatico, Vuelta al Pais Vasco, Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Giro di Lombardia as well as podiuming in San Sebastien and Fleche Wallone. 6th in the Giro and 20th in the Vuelta are hardly impressive Grand Tour results though.
Behind him, Danilo di Luca was the winner of Fleche Wallone and took 2nd in Lombardia. 3rd in the Giro and Tirreno-Adriatico also helped to boost his ranking. Dekker takes 3rd having dominated the Dauphine Libere and ended 2nd in the Tour, just edging out Pliuschin (1st in Vuelta, 2nd in Paris-Nice, 3rd in Eneco Tour).
DFL come out on top of the team rankings, and the top order is pretty much as expected. In the battle at the bottom, Barloworld and Ag2r both stayed up having been promoted the previous season while the 2 sides who were nearly relegated last season are not so lucky this time around. Fraincase des Jeux are indebted to Andrey Grivko, a great season for the Ukrainian single-handedly kept the team up.
Predictor-Lotto really struggled and only survive by 10 points. 10th in the Tour from van den Broeck, stage performances from Van Avermaet and Forero as well as Hoste's 7th in Ronde and 10th in Wevelgem, all helped
as those 4 picked up 76 of the teams 97 points.
Euskaltel go down though, with 10 points less scored than Predictor. They go down with 87 points, despite Stijn Devolder picking up 66 points this season - helped by his victory in the Eneco Tour. He just didnt have much backup. Alzate won a Tour stage but there was nothing else.
Finally Cofidis - a team comprehensively beaten by all. They had more highlights in continental races than ProTour. Team leader Sylvain Chavanel was raced for 109 days, but after 5th overall in Tirreno he could not manage a similar feat elsewhere.

After a season long battle, Romain Feillu beat Stefan Schumacher by 32 points to at last win the Individual Standings. He did it however, with more than twice as many race days. A monster 121 compared to just 54.
For the teams, despite a strong ending by Chocolaude Jacques, it was never really in doubt that Milram and Wiesenhof would return to the ProTour.

From 14th, to 6th, to 1st - Aleksandr Pliuschin's 3 year cycle on the superprestige rankings is complete! In all, 29 of the DFL's 30 riders scored some Superprestige points and although Dan Lloyd did not score any he will remain with the team, unlike around 10 of the others.

Edvald Boasson Hagen may be the only DFL rider in the Top 15 of Victories but altogether 16 different riders scored wins this season for us. Ignatiev (5), Contador (5), Evans (4), Pliuschin (4), Millar (3), Swift (3), Wiggins (2), Anton (2), Nolf (2) and Konovalovas (2) were able to do so more than once.
This combined saw us to be the most successful team this year

One great season again. It'll be interesting to see who signs for which team, as well as who you sign. (well, it'd be interesting if I didn't know already...)
Good luck for the new season. Can't wait for the 2010 preview.
