Oh yes of course. I didn't think about that at that moment; maybe I was because I didn't want to believe it. But you're right.

This could come out wrong, so preface with no offense or disrespect intended...
You build a "coastal" city below sea level and shit is going to go bad at some point, it's just common sense. Yes i understand this was such a ridiculous case of circumstances and bad luck combined with 'poverty' and slow response that you can't plan for it.
Same sort of thing in San Francisco/LA that area. You build on such a major fault line you are going to have earthquakes and stuff is going to break. You can take as many precautions as you want but at some point it's all going to go tits up.
(Note: Geographer, i've done so much work on Hurricanes and Earthquakes over the last 10-12 years of my life. Disasters are my second specialty)
Huge disaster that perhaps shouldn't have been quite so huge. Very sad
Side point: And why was it posted? 9 years not a major anniversary, happened in august not February. I hope it wasn't to out do the pic of the UK Sutty posted...

I wouldn't say it was to outdo. Just that we're on the topic and I guess that Jdog just wanted to show how bad things could get.

+100. People think that nature will stop behaving like it does because of them?
Btw. Netherlands is with its large part under the sea level too, it will probably have existencial problems in next decades...

We use this word in a bit different manner, so it can be said this way. Problems with existence (being out there) =existencial problems...

This disolves into nothingness next to the discussion of world problems, but I'm having the worst days ever here.
So don't expect to see a lot of me for the near future.
