Seeing Pearl Jam today. Saw them four years ago and they were incredible! Can't wait!

I've just listened to "The Beatles" (White Album) now for the first time in years. My responce is the same as it was the first time and every time after that.

Fuck.

Yeah I saw that before. Grin

Now it wouldn't have been so painful had I just fell on the carpet portion to my left. But no, i had to fall on the hardwood portion, and it was by like 5 cm Sad

Passed Robbie McEwen riding a couple of times yesterday. First time i've ever seen a pro/former pro cyclist out riding. What about you guys? Especially Europeans, do you guys come accross known cyclists very often?

Nah, I was in a car in a fair bit of traffic, so he would pass us then we'd catch back up etc. Still, I thought it was cool anyway.

Nope. Thing is I wouldn't necessarily recognize them, with helmets, glasses, etc. It might as well be randoms wearing pro kits.
But even living in a region with a fair share of pros, I don't think I've ever caught or been caught riding by a pro, or crossed one on my way.
There's just Strava to let you know who rode where and when, and thus allows to know if X or Y rode there recently.
My father once was overtaken by Bescond (Cofidis) and another amateur.

Of course there are still some races in the neighbourhood (Boucles de l'Aulne, Tour du Finistère, etc.) to see pros "for real".

I met Sagan once after the MTB race around 2006-2007, even spoke to him for a minute. Grin

I'll be back

Eden95
Oh ok, thought it must have been a little more common over there but I guess not.

Avin, he must have been pretty young then, how'd he go in the race?

Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, he was wearing a local bike shop's kit.

Wow.
From here on it's all downhill for you. Pfft

I once saw Sven Nys training in the Flemish Ardennes, also saw a Topsport Vlaanderen train there but didn't see who he was. Was definitely a pro, though, the way he climbed that hill Grin

Also saw the Quickstep team on the morning of the Omloop once, doing a little warming up, I guess.

Considering my uni flat is a few metres away from the Swiss border (where everyone wanting a German lifestyle, but Swiss taxes lives), I might have a decent chance to see Martin, Greipel, Nerz, Klöden or Ullrich sometime.

Gulvplanke
I've been at a couple of MTB rides with Nordhaug. This was before he turned pro though (rhyme intended).

How hard can it be?

miggi133
I met Kim Kirchen several times! My Grandma is friends with his father...
Oh and I have passed the schlecks a couple of times (a few years ago).

But being honest, I have met more professional track and Field athletes in my days (and even competing against some of them).
