anyone else got the atikmdag driver problem?
stuartmcstuart
Hey people!

Just wondering how many people are experiencing this problem with pcm? (Its a well known problem with graphics cards and vista - just google it!)

I have experienced this problem only with pcm07, all other games on my PC run fine...anyone else got this weird problem?

I've found that using ati tool to lower the the max temp of the card stops pcm crashing to desktop every five minutes, but this surely can't be altogether healthy for the graphics card...anyone got any better ideas?

Hmm. If its a stability issue, you could consider underclocking your card if you dont play anything else thats demanding. Generally, a lower and cooler card is more stable.

yeah, thats what I've been doing by lowering the core temp...I have a fanless card. This error is probably one of the most annoying ever encountered though - before I found a solution that worked for me, I used to speed through a stage x8 and hope it didn't crash when I slowed it down for the last 30-40 km...

Sometimes you wouldn't get a stage done before the screen went blank and pcm crashed to desktop, other times I managed to play 3 or 4 stages before it crashed.Rolling Eyes

Since I used ati tool, however, I haven't had a crash yet...Wink

Maybe you should lower your memory clock and core clock. Or vice versa, lower you core clock dramatically and raise your memory clock in equal measures.
Or install another GB of RAM.

Thats not a problem with my PC, already have 4 GB of RAM...there are no free slots! Thanks for the advice though, it seems to make things most stable if I lower core and increase memory. Wink
