Discovery Channel - 1 season
lance_armstrong
It's my first story so please don't be to harsh, and please excuse my english because i'm Romanian. Grin
Ok, so i start my first season with Discovery Channel, the team's objective's are:
img390.imageshack.us/img390/9472/objaw9.png
The most important riders of the team are:
Yaroslav Popovych
His main objective is winning this years Tour De France, a relatively young rider with unlimited potential that has to confirm himself in this year.
img463.imageshack.us/img463/6299/popokr5.png
Alberto Contador
A young rider with a big potential, i have big hope in him and he must finish in top 3 this Vuelta a Espagne but he wants to win it. He's really ambitious and one day the result of his talent will be seen.
img390.imageshack.us/img390/6180/contadorta0.png
Levi Leipheimer
He doesn't have what it takes to win big tours so his objective is to win the Dauphine Libere and more short strong tours.
img463.imageshack.us/img463/2713/leipheimeruf8.png
George Hincapie
His objective is to help his teammates, Yaroslav Popovych and Alberto Contador and Levi Leipheimer such as he did with Lance Armstrong, that's why he is the "Captain du Route".
img390.imageshack.us/img390/46/hincapiefs1.png
Allan Davis
Our number one sprinter, he wants to win at least 3 stages in this Tour De France and take the green jersey to Paris. He is one of the favourites to win the Australian Road Championship.
img463.imageshack.us/img463/2253/allandavissr3.jpg
I didn't find a picture with him at Discovery. Sad
Vladimir Gusev
He is the best for the cobblestones races so he'll be my #1 for Paris-Roubaix and other UCI Pro Tour cobblestone races.
img463.imageshack.us/img463/6687/gusevtf4.png

We will try to bring 1 or 2 free riders who could help the team in the big tours.
January's schedule:
Only Vuelta al Tachira and the Australian Championships(for Allan Davis).

Awwwwwww but he is Discovery the richest team. He could afford gensink and then still have enough left over to move half the squad of AC Milan to Accrington Stanley. (ok i over exaggerated)

I don't know how to say the DB, it's the bat editor v3.0 but it was reedited by some of my friends.
Difficulty is normal.

Devolder isn't bad at stats but in case Contador gets injured, Tom Danielson will be his replacement.

And about the riders, i take only free now because i don't have so big skills...
In about an hour the first stage of Vuelta of Tachira will appear.

lance_armstrong
Vuelta al Tachira stars on 7 Junuary 2007 and has 14 stages and 1 rest day.
There are no point or moutain jersey. Only overall, team and under 25. And no bonifications are given to stage winners.
But before we go to the first stage we have hot news.
Ivan Basso signed a 2 year contract with Discovery Channel, he will be payed 520800 euros every year and he will be the leader for Giro d'Italia.
img468.imageshack.us/img468/5097/bassoiy7.th.jpg
A reporter, Lonny Banks got an interview with him.
Question: Why did you sign with Discovery?
Answer: Why wouldn't I? It's one of the best cycling teams and i had no other offers, believe me i would have signed for any team.
Q: Do you think you can win the Giro?
A: I think that i can do more then just win the Giro, i want to win the Tour de Suisse too because i don't think i'll participate in the Tour de France this year.
Q: Why do you think Discovery has signed you and not other potential tour winner?
A: Because i was the best free agent and they know what i'm capable of, I only hope that the dopping sentence will not be changed again.
This was the end of the interview so let's get back to the Vuelta al Tachira.

The 1st stage is 100% flat, with a distance of 104km and 500meters altitude.
img468.imageshack.us/img468/361/1ststagewp8.png

When there are 91kms till the finish there is a breakaway made by 6 cyclists, McCartney(DSC), Diaz, Sutherland, Laverde, De Mateo and Pinheiro.
img468.imageshack.us/img468/2227/km91yo3.png

With 45 kms before the finish the 6 cyclist have 4minutes and 50seconds in front of the peleton and have big chances of winning.

There are only 17,8kms until the finish and McCartneys relay makes Diaz and De Mateo get behind but the peleton is only at 1minute and a half behind the leading 4.
img468.imageshack.us/img468/5834/178kmjt9.png

When there are onyl 9kms till the finish McCartney attacks and lets his opponents behind with a gap of almost 30seconds, he seems favourite to win.
img209.imageshack.us/img209/7807/km9cn4.png

But with 1km before the finish McCartney goes dead and a group of 12 sprinters are 20seconds behind him.
img443.imageshack.us/img443/3504/km1bo3.png

The sprint is won by Discovery Channel's sprinter Vaitkus that was taken to the finish by Devolder, Loddo came second, Bonomi third and McCartney came forth.

Interview with today's winner, Tomas Vaitkus.
Q: Are you happy?
A: Of course I am, why shouldn't i be? I won unexpectedly, I'm honesly sorry for my teammate McCartney because he deserved to win but i saw he couldn't rezist anymore so I had to try to win and fortunetly i managed.
Q: Do you think you can win this tour?
A: That's out of the question, this isn't a sprinters tour, there are a lot of hilly stages and 2 time trials so I must help Devolder win the tour.
So in conclusion it has been a perfect day for Discovery Channel.

Yeh nice stuff the interview part is good.

lance_armstrong
Any sugestions on how should i continue?

SidGarcia
Continue as you do, but maybe a little more text or smaller photos?
But it's good as it is.

lance_armstrong
Now i see that there's a bug in the second stage because it's a 54kms team time trial and you have to have minimum 5 riders and all the teams beside mine have 4... well i'll try to make a story of this as I can... It will appear soon i hope it won't affect too much the rankings. Sad

Addy291
nice win,

did you make that 'border'/'skin' thing yourself, or is it in a package, because it's look quite nice (i'm talking about the blue things around the edge, with the rider controlsWink)

lance_armstrong
No Grin, but i need some help, can someone help me make the 2nd stage (TTT) into a ITT because if i play as a TTT nomather how i play there will be a gap between the DSC riders and the others...
