Caisse d'Epargne also announced that Australian Neil Stephens will be the team's new sport director after having been less involved with cycling this season. Stephens has been living in the Basque country for years and brought some well-known Australian riders to Europe, like brothers Allan and Scott Davis, or Aaron Kemps. Stephens competed from 1985 to 1998, amongst others in the team ONCE. Later, he became directeur sportif at Liberty Seguros before working as part-time consultant for the Australian cycling federation.

don't knock ONCE. some very solid, upstanding, clean riders rode there...like Laurent Jalabert and Johan Bruyneel.
Bruyneel even broke the record for fastest average speed in a Tour stage ALONE at the height of the doping age. surely, that can only mean he is a hero.
also, don't knock Liberty, or as they are now called "Astana". or as they were called a few years ago, "ONCE". everyone knows they've been treated unfairly and are nothing but upstanding citizens
same goes for Caisse. the fact that every suspicious spanish-speaking rider signs for Caisse and that a third of the team rode for Kelme (AKA the Astana of the early 2000s) is irrelevant.

Rasmus Damsgaard, the maker of CSC's anti-doping programme, says that the blood values he presented yesterday indicates use of blood doping. According to Damsgaard, it's very unusual that the haemoglobin level increase during a stage race like Tour de France.
Michael Rasmussen's haemoglobin level started at 13.3 in London, 12 days later it had increased to 14.2, and on the rest day it increased to 14.4.
Damsgaard says that the haemoglobin level is supposed to decrease. As an example, he uses the CSC-riders - their levels fell by 12 to 20 % which is normal, he says. That the value increases is a clear indication of blood doping, and if iit was up to Damsgaard, any increase in the haemoglobin level should give a suspension. |

Why are you all so cynical and don't want to face the most simple explanation on earth :
He trained that hard, all season long, before the TDF, that the race became like a rest for him, so his hemoglobin numbers increased again during those 3 weeks.

Lol, but really that would be bad news, if Rasmussen used blood doping in the Tour he sure as hell didn't do all that alone. Something fishy is going on at Rabobank |

possibly although rasmussen was off in the "mountains" by himself so perhaps its more of a solo effort

During such a stage race, you destroy more red cells (hemoglobin) than you produce, so your amount of hemoglobin should decrease all race long, there's no way it can increase, unless... |

and if what Jaksche has been saying is true, there's a lot of individuals out there with private networks set up for blood doping. meaning it's not necessarily Rabobank.

I'm more inclined to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster than in Rasmussen's innocence. then again, that's been the case for some time now.

sarcasm aside, the monster and the associated text is one of the most brilliant religious satires I've ever seen. (and definitely the most popular throughout the world)
why? because it's extremely stupid and illogical, and it's formulated in such a way that when Christians read it they immediately realize that it's exactly like their own religion (and most others). and when they realize that, they become angry and confused.
