Tour de San Luis - Stage 6
Mresuperstar
i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/Profile.jpg

The sprinters are back to contest for the final two stages with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/prp_zps2240497e.png Avelino (Prio), i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Greipel (WWE), i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/hol_zpsfe2f7500.png Davis (Hollistar), i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png Kupfernagel (AMEX), and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/src_zps90f6d964.png Mezgec (Sram) listed as possible winners.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/1.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ing_zps78b9af5e.png Zabriskie leads them off the start line, and all he was to do now is survive 2 more "flat" stages, no pressure Pfft .

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/2.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/bin_zps9ee3c16e.png Seledkov (Bintang), i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Mockus (Ekspla), i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/vtf_zps1d97281a.png Dahlberg (Vattenfall),
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/aip_zps544721ca.png Dennis (Adira), i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Van Leigen (UPC), and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Slagter (BCR) start the opening attacks, but i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png WWE and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/prp_zps2240497e.png Prio-Porto bring them back. Too many riders up front for their liking.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/3.jpg

But as they are caught they go again, except for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Mockus, and this time WWE and Prio see no problem now with 5 riders instead of 6. So i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ing_zps78b9af5e.png ING takes to the front of the peloton and allows the breakaway to get away. So really just bad luck for Mockus.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/4.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Kaupas isn't going to take this bullying from the peloton and goes after the breakaway for Mockus and Ekspa.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/5.jpg

And Kaupas joins the breakaway just in time for the first KoM without the peloton chasing. I guess they thought Mockus was to strong? Either way Ekspa does get a guy into the breakaway.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/6.jpg

The only man interested in the points is Seledkov, who already came in with 8 points. Now add 6 more to his total, plus with the cat. 1 climb coming up, he could be the new KoM leader going past i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Hutchings (Ekspla) at the end of the day. Surprising that Kaupas isn't trying to help Hutchings keep his jersey.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/7.jpg

The category 1 climb is a beast. ING are forced to set the tempo, and they are doing a great job keeping it around 5 minutes. They can't give the breakaway to much of a lead because Dahlberg and Seledkov are just under 4 minutes from Zabriskie's GC lead.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/8.jpg

Nearing the top Dahlberg goes onto the attack, looks like he wants in on the KoM competition; Seledkov follows.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/9.jpg

It's a back and forth fight all the way to the marker. But Seledov just nicks Dahlberg at the top giving him the maximum 16 points and if he can finish the stage our new KoM leader.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/10.jpg

The climb has dropped the breakaway down to 4 riders, with Dennis and Kaupas being left behind. While in the peloton i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/rep_zps8fe99b28.png Anaya is the only rider that can't keep up.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/11.jpg

After the climb ING keeps i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ing_zps78b9af5e.png King in the rotation for the pace making but pulls back the rest of their riders quickly sending a message to the sprinter's team to start working. But I don't think they realize they might have caused a problem on their own by doing so, the breakaway is now 9 minutes up the road!

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/12.jpg

100kms to go, Dennis and Kaupas have fought back to rejoin the breakaway with 7'15" lead over the peloton. So it looks like i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png AMEX and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png WWE have gotten ING's message.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/13.jpg

25kms later their advantage is just 5 minutes. But then again all the breakaway needs to do is reach the downhill section into the finish and they should be home free.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/14.jpg

The gap hits 3'20" and ING have now stopped working on the front all together as Zabriskie's lead is safe. This leaves the chase up to WWE, Prio, and AMEX.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/15.jpg

Major disaster! i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/src_zps90f6d964.png Gerdemann (Sram), 2nd in GC, gets a flat with 41kms to go!

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/16.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/src_zps90f6d964.png Vasyliv and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/src_zps90f6d964.png Koch comeback to try and bring him back into the peloton.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/17.jpg

Another flat, this time i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Blank (Rothaus). Gerdemann can use the fellow German as he is a decent time trialist. And because as of the last 10kms his Sram teammates haven't been able to put a dent into rejoining the peloton, still 2 minutes back.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/18.jpg

Is Gerdemann going to run out of time? The breakaway has made it to the downhill section with 22kms to go with the peloton 1'37" behind.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/19.jpg

He is right there, so close yet so far away...

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/20.jpg

While Gerdemann is fighting for his life, the breakaway is starting to build a little hope, except for Dennis and Kaupas who have been dropped once again. The downhill is going to make it very difficult for the peloton to make the catch.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/21.jpg

Dennis and Kaupas are pulled back by a charging i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Kessiakoff.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/22.jpg

Gerdemann is now starting to slip further behind, it's now 2'25".

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/23.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Kessiakoff did most of the work, but i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png Barredo finishes off the catch of the breakaway with 6.5kms to go. Does this open the door for Gerdemann to catchup?

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/24.jpg

It doesn't look like it as the sprinters are gearing up. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png WWE goes Paulinho, Pineau, then Greipel. As i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png AMEX lines up with Keough and Kupfernagel.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/prp_zps2240497e.png Avelino takes the back end of AMEX's line with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/mti_zps330e0e2d.png Vasylyuk and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/bps_zps2b426596.png Feillu. As i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Cucinotta, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ing_zps78b9af5e.png Bazajev, and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/hol_zpsfe2f7500.png Davis chose WWE.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/25.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png Kupfernagel kicks from 1,500 meters out, too early (again)?

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/26.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/prp_zps2240497e.png Avelino decides to go right around Kupfernagel.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/27.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Greipel sees that moves and goes after Avelino.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/28.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/prp_zps2240497e.png Avelino is holding on strong, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ing_zps78b9af5e.png Bazajev makes a nice move off on the lefthand side, while i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/wwe_zpsb6c72e16.png Greipel is searching for more power.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/29.jpg

And now here comes i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/hol_zpsfe2f7500.png Davis into the action.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/30.jpg

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/31.jpg

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/32.jpg

And i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/hol_zpsfe2f7500.png Allan Davis comes out of nowhere to steal the stage! A close finish from 2nd to 4th, Bazajev-Greipel-Avelino in that order. With i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Lorenzetto with a good sprint jumping up to take 5th.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/33.jpg

The sprint was so fast it opened up a split in the peloton!

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/34.jpg

41 riders get caught out, the best rider being i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/bps_zps2b426596.png Cornu as he is going to get burnt for bad positioning, losing 1'43" and his 4th overall.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/35.jpg

But that can't be worse then what i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/src_zps90f6d964.png Gerdemann just went through. A horrible flat has cost him 2nd overall as he never recovered, losing 4'16" on the stage.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/Man-Game/Reports/San%20Luis/Stage%206/36.jpg

And to cap the day off, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/rep_zps8fe99b28.png Anaya is the first rider to abandon the tour as he didn't make the time limit.
