The sixth stage in San Luis is a rather flat criterium. With no categorized climbs on the route a mass sprint is expected with the main favorites being the same riders that got the first 3 positions in the opening stage: Richeze, Bongiorno and Greipel
Grau and Devenyns were the only 2 escapes of the day. They were never a real threat for the pack and Grau was the last one to be caught with less than 20 kilometers left from the stage
But still some interesting things happened in the pack before the sprint. With less than 10 kilometers to go there was a crash inside the Youtube Twitter group. And it was their leader, Przemyslaw Niemiec, the one who went down
A few moments later, Giaux also went down bringing some other riders down with him as well. Friedman, Duenas and De Greef were the other important names involved in the crash
With so many crashes no team was really able to control the pack when it came down to the sprint. Still UBS looked a little bit stronger than the other with Zubeldia leading the pack for Richeze
With the final kilometer approaching, Richeze made his move but he was quickly followed by Greipel and Galdos and then a group of GC favorites who managed to stay in front and avoid any crashes
Inside the last kilometer, Richeze was still leading but Ole Haavardsholm was being lapped by the pack and him being in front of Richeze looked like being just what Greipel needed to make the decisive move
The German was faster in the final meters but the Argentinian hold on and took his second stage win, after winning the opening stage as well. Greipel took only the second place in the end, while Galdos rounded up the podium
The group with Niemiec and De Greef 1 minutes and 28 seconds but it could have been even more if High Road wouldn't have waited for De Greef and heleped him. Still this will most likely cost Niemiec a place in the top 10
