Today sees the 89 strong peloton go 176km over four and a bit laps of terrain that includes four ascents of a category 1 climb.

It took us nearly 40km, but we finally get our first attack, with Okrouhlicky (Allianz - BMC) leaping off the front with Avery (Cadburys). These two start working well together, with Avery a decent sprinter and Okrouhlicky good over the hills.

As they build up their lead, Avery takes the only intermediate sprint of the day, whilst Okrouhlicky would take three of the category 1 KOM sprints to Avery's one.

100km to go, and Magna's Speirs takes a tumble

And with Gazelle pace-setting, he wouldn't see the peloton again.

In fact, as the pace is ramped up by Gazelle (the lead is down to 3 minutes with 30km to go), plenty of riders get dropped, including notable sprinters Lay, Renshaw, Cano, Morales, Appollonio, Belleti, Maksimov, Dekkers, Gavazzi and Thorsen

Rejoining the action at the top of the last mountain sprint, and Okrouhlicky takes on some water as he goes over in the lead. The lead is 2'30 with 21km to go. It's possible, but Gazelle are chasing hard...

...launching Furdi onto the attack with 12.7km to go. This proves quite a popular time to attack.

Which just leads to our original BOTD duo getting caught. They lost 1'38 in 5.1km!

But despite all these attacks, Gazelle bring it back again. A sprint looms...

...except two desperate late attackers with 3.3km to go! It's Golas (Credexbank) and Torckler (Cadburys)!
