Tour de Pologne - Stage 7
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_58.jpg
Today it`s the final stage in Pologne. It`s another one for the sprinter with Corioni showed biggest strength so far. But you can never count off the others like Kennaugh or stage winner Borrajo.

Just 5 riders in the break.
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Cyclevox-1.png Van der Velde
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Trilux.png Barta
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/koppert.png Ligthart
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/oz-1.png Matthews
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Rothaus.png Schoch
None of these 5 can influence the fight for the KoM, so obviously Grau will win this competition.

Vespa, Bianchi and Rapha share the work in the peloton. It`s not very fast yet as there is no big danger.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_61.jpg

Kennaugh really wants the last stage here and sends his teammates to the front. Also Saab is working now. Both of their sprinters have not been able to win a stage yet.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_62.jpg

Barta takes the first KoM, although it looks a bit weird here. He immediately stopped afterwards. Van der Velde and Schoch followed next with Dowsett and Froome work for Kennaugh and coming over the line first in the peloton taking the last few points.
With 85km left they have a gap of 7'30 but melting now.

Van der Velde takes the 2nd KoM ahead of Barta and Ligthart.

Shock moment in the peloton. Vespa`s Kwiatowski crashes while doing the pace but somehow all other riders could avoid a bigger crash.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_69.jpg

Barta also takes the sprint but they don`t really care. 50km and 4'27 for the group. Looking difficult but not impossible yet.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_71.jpg

Behind you see lots of riders falling behind due to the heavy wind. In especially the guys that had to work a lot during the race. Chicchi might become worried now seeing half of his team behind.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_73.jpg

Also a bigger split appears some kilometers later and the biggest name here i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/proximus.png Ben Nasser, 6th in the overall. His teammates do everything now to bring him back.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_75.jpg

13km left and just Van der Velde and Barta left in front with a 30s gap, while the Ben Nasser group is still 1'20 behind.
Time for another attack. It`s Martin Velits trying everything now.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_77.jpg

Also Van der Velde is attacking and creates a gap to Barta and Velits now.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_79.jpg

For some reason Vespa is joining the fight for the sprint positions and so it`s a very chaotic one. Saab doesn`t have enough riders and Rapha obviously has doubts if Kennaugh can win this one. Maybe a chance for Van der Velde?
Next to Kennaugh also Corioni, Wegmann and Borrajo can be seen in front. Nothing to see of Chicchi or Cooke in especially.
And it`s not Kennaugh bringing himself in position. More or less just Corioni and Wegmann find a good one and start the sprint.

`

No. With 300m left the Dutch loses the lead to Wegmann who seems to be the strongest after 7 stages. Also Corioni is coming behind. So is the yellow jersey of Ginanni. These two really fight for the point jersey as well.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_7_82.jpg

Wegmann with a great win for his team. Van der Velde keeps on to 2nd while Corioni beats Ginanni for 3rd, which means that he wins the points jersey by just 1 tiny point. Ginanni takes the overall and surely isn`t disappointed. Grau secures the KoM jersey, while Di Maggio wins the youth competition agains Claeys. Lots of big duels can be expected in future between these two young puncheurs.
Bianchi wins the team ranking but in general they might have hoped for more here sending a very strong team.

Ben Nasser loses almost 2min today and falls back on the 13th. Bad luck for him.
