Tour de Pologne - Stage 6
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_1.jpg
Welcome to the 6th stage in Pologne. Yesterday i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Vespa.png Ginanni showed his big power and conquered the overall lead. Today he must be concentrated as another hard stage expects the riders.

A big group was allowed to break free. Interesting to see yesterdays attacker Grau, Gil, Rast and Kozontchuk all in there again. Obviously the fight for the KoM will be continued today. Also Brutt as 7th in the KoM rankings is still seeing his chance.
Next to these there is also Landa, Stamsnijder, Bennett, Longo Borghini, Kelderman, Coutts and Sulzberger.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_2.jpg

Ginanni sees the danger and sends some of his teammates to the front. They are not going that fast yet but at least keeping the group under control.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_8.jpg

With 100km left and 8min gap it`s Bianchi doing the pace. It`s Cobo now and this already means a lot. Koldo Gil obviously is not believing in winning the stage today.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_9.jpg

Immediately it comes to a split in the peloton with Dowsett (18.), Sagan (21.) and Van der Velde (23.) being the biggest names behind.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_11.jpg

Grau and Gil are the best puncheurs here and also the two first in the KoM ranking. So they fight for the points and it`s Grau taking the maximum.
1 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/unicredit.png Grau
2 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bianchi.png Gil
3 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Trilux.png Rast
4 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/tinkoff.png Kozontchuk
5 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/rapha.png Sulzberger
6 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/koppert.png Stamsnijder
7 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Rothaus.png Landa
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_15.jpg

With 75km left the gap is down to 6'45. One reason surely is that Koldo Gil is no longer working here while his teammates do a lot behind now.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_17.jpg

He should at least try to get the KoM lead then but he is just 3rd behind Grau and Rast.
1 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/unicredit.png Grau
2 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Trilux.png Rast
3 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bianchi.png Gil
4 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/rapha.png Sulzberger
5 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/tinkoff.png Brutt
6 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/tinkoff.png Kozontchuk
7 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Rothaus.png Landa
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_19.jpg

The peloton is reduced quite a lot now with Bianchi still controlling the pace while Vespa is covering overall leader Ginanni just behind.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_21.jpg

40km and 4min left for the breakaway. Time for Gil to do some work again and immediately there is a split.
Next to Gil it`s Grau, Rast, Kozontchuk, Brutt and Sulzberger, while the others have to let them go.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_22.jpg

Gil finally manages to score the maximum points here. Maybe too late.
1 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bianchi.png Gil
2 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/tinkoff.png Brutt
3 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/tinkoff.png Kozontchuk
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_25.jpg

More and more riders can`t follow. 34km to go and 2nd overall Noval falls back. Also the 3rd Ghyllebert is suffering here.
But more important. While Sanchez is allowed to go for his own, Volkswagen obviously has other plans. Flügel is waiting for Noval to bring him to the front again.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_26.jpg

29km: Monfort and Kolobnev attack out of the peloton. It`s not the best riders but surely putting more pressure on Vespa now.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_30.jpg

27km: Just like yesterday Samu Sanchez is doing the pace now. But different to yesterday it`s not for his teammate Ghyllebert. Today he is working for his own chance.
Also Froome, Kessler, Ben Nasser, Weening and Hesjedal now in the first rows. Most leaders are isolated and Vespa is not doing anything for some reason.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_32.jpg

23km and again it`s Monfort and Kolobnev with an attack. Seeing that Vespa is not as strong as expected today they go for their chance.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_40.jpg

Rast wins the KoM ahead of Grau and Gil.
1 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Trilux.png Rast
2 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/unicredit.png Grau
3 i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bianchi.png Gil
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_42.jpg

18km: Koldo Gil solo in front now with Grau and Rast a bit behind while the other 3 couldn`t follow.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_43.jpg

In the peloton we see Hesjedal and Salerno not being able to keep the pace.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_45.jpg

It`s Ginanni himself now doing the work seeing that his teammates are not as helpful than he might have thought. With 13km left they are just 1min behind Gil.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_47.jpg

Just 10km left and it`s again Kolobnev attacking. Visconti, Froome, Monfort, Ben Nasser are following.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_49.jpg

With 5km left they catch Koldo Gil, who fought hard today.
And there the next attack by Weening, while the earlier attackers are all back in the peloton again.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_51.jpg

Time for Ginanni to show his strength again. HE follows the Dutch just like Kolobnev, who is really on fire today.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_53.jpg

Ginanni has a small gap and now the other podium contenders are coming. Claeys and Di Maggio attack and overtake Kolobnev and Weening.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_6_55.jpg

Next win for Ginanni. He was the strongest today.
9s later Di Maggio comes in 2nd while Claeys couldn`t keep the high pace until the end. He leads a group 24s later over the line including Kolobnev, Weening, Sanchez and Kessler.
The next top10 contenders all finish 39s behind.
Bad day for Volkswagen surely as Flügel loses more than 5min today as best of them falling out of the top15 overall.
