Tour de Pologne - Stage 4
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_1.jpg
Interesting stage today. Not hard enough for the overall riders and probably too hard for the pure sprinters. Also the fight for the mountain jersey will really start today. All three climbs will give the winner 16 points and the first 7 will get some. As the actual leader just has 5 points so far we will definitely get a big change there.

It will also be very interesting if Corioni can keep the overall lead after todays stage. He belongs to the better climbers in the peloton but still he would suffer with a higher pace.

No group is really formed so far. And we are already 33km into the stage.
Loddo wins ahead of Van der Velde and Brammeier, probably a sign that Saab won`t work for Chicchi today.

6 riders got a decent gap after the sprint.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/siemens.png Noval
Interesting to see Smukulis here. He attacked late on the previous stages and showed a great form. Today he is trying it with the long break.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_3.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/oz-1.png Durbridge also wants to join and rides solo in between the two groups.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_4.jpg

With 107km to go Durbridge managed to join the break.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_6.jpg

In the more mountainous area we see first splits. Just 78 riders in the first group, which is still 6'44 behind the breakaway.
Behind we see Kennaugh, yesterdays winner Borrajo and the actual 3rd overall Li, while Chicchi and Cooke are even two groups behind.
Corioni on the other hand is still in front of the big peloton.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_8.jpg

The 2nd KoM was won by Noval, while Smukulis too the first.

2 Coen Vermeltfoort
3 Pavel Brutt
4 Benjamin Noval
5 Pieter Ghyllebert
6 Luke Durbridge
7 Matthew Brammeier

7 Matthew Brammeier
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_16.jpg

With 60km to go Brammeier can`t follow. The Irish is losing contact and falling behind.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_17.jpg

Last KoM of the day and this time Brutt is the winner.
1 Pavel Brutt
2 Pieter Ghyllebert
3 Benjamin Noval
4 Gatis Smukulis
5 Coen Vermeltfoort
6 Luke Durbridge
7 Matthew Brammeier
This means Noval, Brutt and Smukulis all have 34 points now.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_21.jpg

Also Durbridge can`t follow any longer. PRobably his long solo cost him too much energy.
So it`s just 5 in front.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_23.jpg

With 52km left it`s Vespa now doing a strong job. Also Venchi is still in the first rows as Corioni survived the hills and is still in front.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_24.jpg

Actually he just did. After teh last bump the peloton split and now we can see the yellow jersey behind. Also some other good riders here. We see lots of Bianchi riders. Gild, Cobo and De la Fuente already lost time before. But it`s also Claeys being behind now, while Monfort was one of the last riders being successful to jump into the first group. They were totally surprised by this acceleration.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_26.jpg

Last intermediate for the day and Ghyllebert takes the maximum points.
1 Pieter Ghyllebert
2 Benjamin Noval
3 Coen Vermeltfoort
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_31.jpg

With 47km left we see Visconti attacking. He is already more than 6min behind and surely wants to go for the stage win now. But the group is still pretty far ahead and it`s actually not looking too bad for them.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_32.jpg

Good news for Bianchi as the splitted group makes it back to the favourites. In especially Gil and Cobo worked hard for Claeys.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_34.jpg

Vespa and Venchi are just doing as less as possible and so Visconti is still ahead together with Brammeier and Durbridge now, while the 5 in the breakaway still have some minutes and will surely take the stage now.
20km and still 4'50 for them.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_36.jpg

Coming to the sprint of the breakaway. Smukulis did great in the last two days and unfortunately for him he must start the sprint from the first position with Brutt following him. The others obviously can`t follow and must let a small gap to the duo.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_39.jpg

Smukulis finally gets his stage win. He was the strongest today and Brutt had no chance to pass him from his back. Great sprint by him today. Well deserved win.
27s later it`s the fight for the overall lead. All 3 have the chance and it`s Ghyllebert taking the bonus seconds and the overall lead.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_4_40.jpg

Visconti takes 6th today but for nothing as the peloton is directly behind him. They lose 3'45 on the group today, which means that they are more than 2min behind in the overall now with Ghyllebert, Noval and Vermeltfoort being the top 3 at the moment.
