Tour de Pologne - Stage 2
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_1.jpg
Welcome to day 2 in Pologne. Yesterday we saw teh first sprint of this race and today looks like a perfect opportunity for the sprinters again. The second half is constantly going a very tiny bit uphill. Not much but maybe enough to tire some riders the important bit.

Sorry if I cannot name all riders participating in the sprints etc. Unfortunately I am not at home and copied the wrong stage event file on my netbook to make the report. This will just happen for the 2nd stage here...

The group wasn`t yet to be completely formed at the first intermediate. Oliphant takes the maximum points ahead of Ariesen.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_2.jpg

9 riders in todays break.
Within this group: Oliphant, Ariesen, Klier, Jacques-Maynes, Durbridge, Bouhanni, Vogt, Flens and Hacecky. So Puma - SAP with two riders while the others are alone.

Behind several teams including the team leader`s teammates of Venchi are doing some work. But not very much, so the gap widens a lot at the moment.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_4.jpg

With 145km to go the peloton increases a lot due to Saab`s work. They want to position Chicchi another time today. Also Rapha works for Kennaugh. The gap is at almost 11min at the moment so highly time to do something.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_6.jpg

While Oliphant also takes the 2nd sprint it`s Durbridge this time taking the next one.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_9.jpg

The KoM was won by Oliphant, who seems to very on fire today. Jacques-Maynes and Klier come over the line next.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_10.jpg

With 38km and the gap down to 3min it`s Saab`s Sorensen crashing in the front rows. Luckily non of the other riders behind felt over him. But this also means that th pace dropped now as he was an important factor in Saab`s plan.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_11.jpg

Smukulis is the first to react on the slower pace now. He sees his chance and attacks. with 18km to go.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_13.jpg

Santambrogio, De la Fuente and Rovny think this is a good move and follow. This also means big danger for the overall riders. 3 of them already lost time but De la Fuente is well placed and one of the favourites here.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_14.jpg

With 5km left and the breakaway finally being caught it`s Taillefour and Ma with the next attack. The other 4 late attackers are still ahead and the pace is still not that high behind as Saab is totally out of pace making now and Rapha obviously doesn`t want too much.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_18.jpg

The trains are formed with Saab for Chicchi with most sprinters behind. Kennaugh on the left with one team mate and Wegmann behind him. But at first they need to come to the late attackers.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_21.jpg

But it`s looking good for them. Ma with a small gap to the others starting his sprint.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_22.jpg

But he went too early. Santambrogio with another win this season. He was the fastest in the end beating Smukulis by just a little bit with De la Fuente in 3rd getting important bonus seconds.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Pologne/mg_pologne_2_23.jpg

Behind it`s again Corioni being the fastest ahead of Cooke and Chicchi and an again a bit underperforming Kennaugh. Good for the other favourites, that the groups are counted the same time but at least De la Fuente is a few seconds ahead now.
